I lived in Ft. Worth for many years & spent a lot of time at DFW, where my dad was a dispatcher with AA, great to see some of those classic birds and classic terminal shots!
I can’t tell ya how much I appreciate you uploading these. I grew up in the Midwest in the late 80’s through 90’s and any spring break family vacation began with either TWA to KSTL or an American Saab to DFW. This is where I fell In love with aviation and I partially credit this airport in this period with inspiring me to become a pilot. DFW was an absolute Mecca of airliners in the 90’s. It seemed there was every conceivable airline and type and it was breathtaking. I remember the American Eagle Island that was a hive of Saab 340’s, ATR-42’s and 72’s. It’s just not the same today. Just that scene at 29:42 makes me happy, an American Eagle Saab 340B taking off with what I think is an ASA Emb-120. I remember when I was 8 or 9 in 96/97 I think there were some Dash 7’s and B1900’s at DFW that were yellow. Rio Air I believe they were called. Another example of the diverse types of aircraft there at the time.
Delta terminal 4E, aka "Easy Street"!!!!! I used to ride delta 737-200s, and 727s between KAUS and KLBB, through DFW, very frequently in the '80s and early '90s. "plane spotting" was much more interesting back in those days; a wide variety of airlines and aircraft types at most every airport. Thanks for posting this video, man! I love these memories!!!
ASA-Delta Connection's EMB-110 "bandit" taking off at 6:49 in the video is excellent, too! i rode those lil' birds between kdfw and ksps quite often....R.I.P. Rio Airways? ;)
I'll always like this Delta Air Lines colors in this video especially on the L-1011. I have 2 1:200 diecast in these Delta colors, an Inflight200 Boeing 747 & my recent Boeing 767-300.
Been years since I've been through this airport especially on family vacations flying from Lubbock to DFW on American Airlines or Delta Air Lines to make connections.
Back then, DL had between 200 to 300 ops/day at DFW....when BN was operating, it had its largest hub there, along with its HQ's. BN went out of business and DL re-strategized and re-allocated its ops to different hubs and closed its base @DFW. Today, its pretty much all AA. When EA went out of business, AA was considering moving into EA's biggest hub in Atlanta. AA thought better of it and I chuckle when I saw a quote by an AA exec who said, "Delta will kick our asses if we go into Atlanta." Instead, AA decided to move into EA's Miami hub and have their own there.
I didn't realize American Airlines had so much competition at DFW with the presence of Delta Air Lines. This nice footage brings back memories of my layover here in 1990.
Flew through there in '93 non reved to MCO( Delta hub)on a Delta l1011. My wife was pregnant with our daughter. She turned 30 this year! Seems like yesterday! That's when you could get on flights!
I was a pilot for "American Eagle" flying the Saabs out of DFW. In 1993, 1994 our callsign was Simmons, prior to that it was Eagle for a bit and before that it was Metro. They were using Metro in this video, so it had to have been 91, 92 ish. FOLLOW UP: On a second video (Clip 2) by this same person posting there is a date stamp on the video of March 7, 1992.
What a blast from the past! A 727 and DC-10 palooza.

727s everywhere! Loved that plane.
Ahhhh.....when MD80's were new! My favorite plane in the world. Sad to see them leaving the AA fleet.

So many JT8s!!! Paradise!
Thanks!! Started many family vacations in the 90s flying through DFW on both AA and DL. Brings back some memories!!
This is amazing! Brings back such memories.
So cool, I was working the Delta ramp during this time. Brings back so many memories.
Me too.
I worked in the summers in 1993, 1995, 1997 when I was home from college. Worked with the great Johnny M.
I remember flying back in those days and to DFW. I missed my MD-80s, DC-9s, and 727s😞
Miss those DC10 luxury liners

Now there’s only 3 legacy carriers and every airport is packed with regional jets, 737’s and a320’s. No more tri-jets either :(

An outstanding post, thanks so much!

love this, compared to the planes now a days lol
Looks like this was shot at the Hyatt. I stayed there in a room with a view like that.

MD-80, BOEING 727, DC-10, MD-11, BOEING 737, BOEING 767, BOEING 757
Awesome video other subscribers 👍🏻
First AA 727 was practically a tailstrike!

City of Abscissæ yah DFW used to be a major delta hub. Second only to ATL.
In the 80’s, it was American, then Delta, then Braniff!! Delta bailed DFW, like Continental bailed DEN!
Justin Hopkins - then the Western buyout/merge
Braniff folded, Delta bailed!! Might be the reason American is still afloat!?🤔
Similar to Denver, where. The original Frontier folded, and Continental bailed. United gained power in the western states with that reality
Miss the ATA 1011
I worked at AA in 2005. One day Delta took up all of 4E or E. Then they were all gone.

Excellent
Wow she was pro
was this filmed on the catwalk of the old tower?
Just as much MD metal as Boeing and ZERO Airbus.
It would have been nice too see the DC10 take off instead of your facination of 727's.
What year was it? Was it 1994, 1995 or 1996?
Alyssa Boyett I’m guessing 94
