Thank you for this tutorial but I have a question. How to remove the latest white line in the middle of the road if we don’t close the curve ?

how do you make very curvy tracks?

Unfortunately I cannot make new sweep node work with prepared groups, because there is no option for Cycle type - All Primirives with each point (that's my main guess)
So I cannot make curves out of dots to build barriers, tires and markings =(
Any advice or help is much appreciated

Hello, thanks for making me aware of this- it does seem like the new sweep node in 18.5 doesn't allow quite the same functionality. I will get onto sidefx to see if they can come up with a solution. In the meantime- if you download my file containing the completed track it should open with the old versions of the sweep node- even in 18.5 (creating a new sweep node creates the new one). You should be able to copy and paste these old node versions between Houdini sessions.

Hi Alexandra, the 'copy to curves' node will do what you need in 18.5. Change the 'target up vector' to attribute.

Great tutorials. Thank you. It works until I get to the Sweep node - which looks different in Houdini18 (less inputs on the node plus the properties are different). The main difference is when I sweep the track doesn't follow the curve but rather blends through it - like calligraphy (as thought the normal for the track is pointing northward as opposed to following the curve). Any idea why it's different?

This one is easy to fix - swap the backbone curve entery and cross section entery (in simple words updated sweep node has inputs swaped)
As it is now, you are not sweeping backbone track curve with ine line but vice-versa

Is it possible to make the road merge with terrain and not sit on top of it ?

Anything is possible in Houdini ^^
maybe you can select the dots on terrain that are directly under track, blast them and merge the track dots with remaining terrain ones?
Sorry these are just guesses, wish you good luck)
