Very helpful video mate, I'm from Ireland and did a Plc course this year (foundation course for one year in UK) and now I'm undecided about uni but I think Open University is the road for me
Te Olvidare it varies depending on income. I paid full price which in Scotland is £1008 for 60 credits. It’s more in England and different in Europe I believe. Funding is available if you’re on a lower income. Hope that helps 😄 good luck!
Please everybody, don't take this video as concrete. I have studied with the OU for 6 years and I love it, however, there are some discrepancies with this video. Each course is different and so are the fees. My course is cheaper than a brick University but only by £1000 per year approximately. Also study time varies massively and is not generic across the board. Obviously Maths is much more demanding than English, so, this will require more time. Furthermore, some courses are accredited, others are not so you need to be aware of this. Overall I am pleased, however, some may prefer interaction with people so this will not be for them. All in all, this mans experience is based on what he has studied and his ability to absorb the knowledge and process the information. This unfortunately is different for everyone so please be aware of this also!
@@teeniemcnee Yes sorry Martine, I should have chosen my words more carefully, I studied pure mathematics and upper level physics along with fluid mechanics and a portion of quantum mechanics so you are right, different levels of mathematics will make a difference. Also some people favour some subjects over others so that will matter also. I apologise if I was not more clear.
Wow, over four years ago now. And you can see on your wall there 'Nosy'. Looks like your business plan went well. After the years have gone by, do you have any regrets about taking this course? Was it worth it?
Hi, I am Italian and I am very interested in enrolling in the mathematics degree course at the Open University. I wanted to ask you if within the modules to be studied there are also video lessons of the topics and if the exams are written or oral (face to face). Thanks for any replies.
I’m doing homeschool for a levels and hoping to study at the OU this year I’m relieved to see they have a whole planner of what you should get done in a week. Sadly with the people I’m studying with I don’t get that luxury lol which is why I think I’ve fallen behind so much D:
@@nazlimelis7323 Yes! So far, I am almost finished with my first module and I can say the OU is like any other university. There are tutors that sucks and will explain really bad. There are tutors that will not answer your quetions properly, but the good thing is that, if you are not satisfied with your personal tutor, you can switch. I had a tutor that was pretty bad, and currently my tutor is good, not amazing (I am quite picky), but fine enough. Imo, it is all about what you want in life. I personally don't like Unis. I am just studying cuz my family would not like that I don't. Since I had bad experiences at a brick uni, online is much better for me. I do not have to bear these annoying students that have fight cuz of a group work and blabla. Also, you can pretty much study anything at your pace without any pressure.
You study online, but they have a campus in Milton Keynes you can visit. They have a library and some cool stuff, but you can’t have lectures there. They also have an online library which has a lot of stuff which is really useful.
hi matt, great video! i just wanted to ask if i was to do a full time course would i attend lectures at the uni or just work from home at all times. Does open uni have the 'Uni life' or are you stuck @ home doing work.
What i find impossible is about OU is this fucking units bollox. I cant do a degree in what I want until it appears I've accumulated enough 'units' to apply for the course I want. I may be wrong but thats what it appears to be. I liken this to "you can't learn to drive until you have found 3000 bottle caps 😊👍". But I can already drive i just need to get the qualification. See you after 3000 bottle caps. Hmmm so its just a money making scam then?

slangnocturno I pay so I’m not sure, but part time is 60 credits and you can get funding in Scotland. Maybe different elsewhere
slangnocturno yeah there are set amounts of credit per term. Calling them to talk to an advisor is best, that’s how I found out what to do.
Thank you for the video!!
You cleared my concerns!!
"John, I can't add! What should I do?"
Very good information bro, thank you
really liked this video, im starting my first year of my degree in October
