I believe the one thing that was just as magical as the Maestro's fingers were his feet (well, two things). At 1:30 there is beautiful moment where his release of the sustain pedal was so delicate and precise that the dampers let out a sympathetic whine as they rested back on the strings. Put on headphones and listen carefully. So glad that moment was caught on tape.
Horowitz took on some grand and expansive classical works with gusto and panache deservedly achieving wide acclaim but it is in the little gems like this little Chopin etude where he excelled. The depth and breadth of his profound musicality is all here in all its glory.
Been listening to a lot of different interpretations of this piece lately while I learn it. This is the absolute best and no one else comes close. His rubato and dynamics (of course) are perfect. Only Horowitz would bring this much sensitivity to it.
Amazing. You always can hear that this is Horowitz interpretation, no matter which piece. It's magic indeed... Always completely different from another pianists interpretations and what is the "standard", but sounds so natural... I love how he sings the melody, very connected, at the same time sixteens in the left hand are not in pedal at all. Amazing effect...

Sometimes I think this the most beatiful piece by Chopin.
That's because it is!!

No
my favorite, for sure.😊
Horowitz had it all ... an unimpeded path into the heart and soul of Chopin's music.

I agree. I am not personally a fan of all the Horowitzian showmanship, but in something like this or the Schubert/ Liszt serenade he is untouchable.

@@79Tomasso stunning control of dynamics...from piano, crescendo, decrescendo (perfect) and his pedaling is absolutely the mark of genius!
Absolutely superb. So incredibly magical and musical.

What a beautifully philosophized piece of pure music.

This is what it sounds like with pedal control. Usually most of the notes blur for each bar. The separation and blend is very clean
fantastic
