What a game man... what a game that was incredible to watch. 21 years we've waited the last time we won I was 7 years old. Harry Plummer must be getting that AB's call up after the season he's had.
He's got no chance unfortunately, not versatile enough. Razor won't be looking for a specialist 10, and his alternative position of centre is already well-covered by others.
@@icefarrow7959 Wasn't Razor looking at Havili as a 10 option earlier in the season? Plummer's had heaps of experience at 12, I'd say he's fairly versatile - that said he seems a lot better at 10 but on form I'd much prefer him as a 10/12 over Havili. And I say that as a Crusaders supporter.
@icefarrow7959 Plummer has literally played 10, 12 and 15 for the Blues for several years now and has never been at fault for us. I understand that AB's always try to cram as much "experience" into positions while giving the newcomers just a crumb of the game time up until a certain point but how could any sane coach look past Plummer? The dude can run, kick and tackle what else could you want?
yup and i think when your team is winning the rain doesn't bother you as much.. i remember going to the All Blacks vs Argentina in Hamilton in 2022 with my husband and it rained but the ABS won that game. so we were happy :)
The Blues definitely deserved this title. While my Canes team finished up of the table, the blues had been the most consistent- especially with their defence.
Mate that was a domination. The Chiefs no doubt are feeling like we did after not firing a shot against the Crusaders last final. Felt like this one was a long time coming, figuratively and literally. I'm here for the Vern Cotter Blues era. Shout has to go to Leon McDonald though, he was the beginning of the rise. Long may blue be the colour of Super Rugby henceforth
Happy for you Mark. Like you I am a long suffering Blues supporter but happy with the final result. Feel for the Chiefs, they had another big year and did both the Canes and us a favour by giving us home final possibilities. Leon planted the seed and Vern completed the harvest. I hope you wore your Make the Blues Great Again Cap, that always makes me smile. So happy.
I waited for years for this. Finally we are back. Thanks boys. You guys are amazing. Akira congratulations you and Patrick played your guts out and are true blues men and I respect you both. True team effort just amazing. So much more potential even from this amazing effort. Caleb, your all my favourite player from the moment you came in bro and now a hat trick in the final. So happy for you guys. Harry, wow man, look better every game you play. Your kicking and form was superb. There’s so many stand out efforts, the bench, the coaches, Vern. Thanks everyone. gO Tha BLUES! 💙🔐
Well done Blues. What a performance. I think the Chiefs played their final last Saturday. Couldn't bring the same intensity this time. Lots of errors, penalties. Good to see the Blues celebrating. Sir JK is beaming!😂😂
As a Chiefs fan I didn't enjoy watching them get a bollocking but massive respect to how the Blues played. After a few turbulent years it is cool to see how far the Blues have come and they probably deserve the trophy more than anyone else.
Blues get a reprieve from the sorrow of 2022!!! maybe the best match this year, full stat dominance. Makes it better that it was against a finalist from last year too. Cheers
woop woop Blues too good! yes like u waiting for this moment for 21 years too.Even the rain couldn't dampen it. Also, hope that our blues have put their hands up to be in the 1st ABs squad announce monday(Caleb Clark,Finley Cristie, Harry Pummer, Rico Ioane, OfaTuingafasi, Rikotali, Patrick Tuipolotu, Dalton Papalii, Akira Ioane, hoskin Satutu, have stood out n should in my book make it),
South Africa are world champions . However, I am persuaded, NZ plays the smart and beautiful rugby in the world. It's such an exciting experience to watch their rugby 🏉
Yes Mark, saw you after that trans Tasman final in 2021 (I don’t care what anyone says it counts) and you had that make the blues great again hat on. I’d say between Leon and Vern it has been done. Now the 2010s are behind us, the Blues are back!!!!
As a neutral, it was a good game to watch with some really good skills, considering the wetness. Well done Blues. Hope it would have been a better contest, but you cannot get everything.
Those first 25 minutes of brutal forward play led by an inspirational patrick t broke the chiefs. Unfortunate it wasnt a little bit closer but blues clearly the best team all season.
I wouldn't say that Plummer outplayed McKenzie; the Blues forwards outplayed the Chiefs' so McKenzie had nothing to work with. Possession was 67%-33% in favour of the blues, and of overall possession, 39% was the Blues in the Chiefs 22m - that's just insane. Anytime McKenzie got the Chiefs out of the dangerzone, they'd drop the ball, give up a penalty and be right back defending in their 22m again.
And I thought Hurricanes were the biggest chokers in the competition. But oh no, Chiefs said 'Hold my pavlova. I can do so much worse'. To not even turn up in the biggest game of their domestic season is a capital offence in sporting levels.
@@ynwa9885 Given that they went and beat Hurricanes on their home patch, the team that finished top of the standings, you would think that Chiefs would at least put up more of a challenge. Not to mention they had McKenzie pulling the strings, but he was non-existent for most of that game. Sorry, but to me, that was as much Chiefs just simply not turning up as it was Blues dominating in most facets of the final. If both teams played at 100%, the score-line would have been WAY closer than it turned out to be.
This is what you call "pressure" rugby from the Blues! It was always going to be a matter of how the Chiefs were going to stop that Blues forward pack with Plummer keeping the ball in front of them ALL day! NZ use to be the masters of this type of rugby but over time we have been sucked into this running rugby thinking its the way to play the game and win - NO!!!! Rugby is all about pressure!! Colin Meads best described it as this ...."rugby is all about the top 2 inches!"....
@@thefobbie0034 bloody right you are my mate. I have a feeling Robertson and co have been given a lot of food for thought about how we want to punish teams going forward. So proud of the boys tonight
@@jamietaylorjamietaylorjam Yes will be interesting to see what Robertson does! One thing - surely Tuipulotu has to be the locking partner with Barrett in the ABs! Another massive performance! Funny old game!
Bit of a dud final as a neutral. Blues pack with complete dominance. Kind of expected it especially when I seen the weather. I hope Razor was taking notes that NZ has the ability and player profile to play a high percentage, game of attrition and bully an opponent. That Blues Style is perfect for test Rugby.
The weather hindered the Chiefs attack, but the game was won by the Blues dominance of territory and possession, just making the chiefs tackle forever. Riccitelli for the ABs purely due to his accuracy at lineout in miserable conditions. Basically the whole Blues 23 stood up, Tuipulotu… what knee injury!!!!
@@brentwithey4241 Yeah I just dont think Aumua is going to get the space and weak tackles that make him look good in SR against England, SA etc. And if you're can't get his dynamic runs to counteract his shakey line out throwing then what's the point?
Honestly mate, I hate blow out games. Full credit to the Blues for a decisive win and great form this season - but tight games are much more interesting to watch.
