This is the best video ever for installing the Anderson 3000 storm door. Quick and to the point. I have no experience installing doors. After watching this two times I was able to fully install the door without even looking at the instructions. You can't do better than that! Thanks so much for this great video!
I can't believe how few videos I could find showing the removal of an old storm door as well as installing the new Andersen door. Thank you for taking the time to make this video and showing all the steps as well as detailing and explaining as you go. This is really helpful!
Excellent video! Thank you. Since you probably don't work in my city, I'll do this myself. I'm sure it will take me longer. Oh, Andersen pictures the handle the same way you like to put it. 😎
I thought you did a commendable job. However, if I might point out a couple of things: One, I like to put the closer at the top because young children play with the hydraulic closer and their fingers and hands are at risks, especially if another youngster is running out the door and the door closes the closer and jams the hand, etc. Second, wouldn't it be nice to clean the glass before leaving the job of the customer? Third, what's wrong with a carpenter's apron for screwdrivers, parts, screws, etc. where a pocket is tighter to get into and worn out by screws and parts. Fourth, what would you do if reaching for screws, etc. and the deck has openings for them to drop through and under the deck? Fifth, oh...you get the idea. (oh, have the cameraman follow the hands and what is addressed in the video as work progresses through each stage. . :-) Thanks for the video, for those who like to see how others install / build things and their ideas (which tips you laid out just right).
The inside hinge side screws... did you set your door with the hinge rail all the way to the right? Im trying to center my storm door, but when I do that there is a 3/16" gap between the hinge rail and door jamb. In other words when i drive the screws in, they will bend the hinge rail 3/16". If I set the door with the hinge rail all the way to the right, then there will be 3/8" more exposed brickmold on the left than the right because the door isnt centered. Everyone on youtube just sticks the door in the frame but I havent seen anyone discuss centering vs having the hinge side pressed against the jamb. If I want my door centered, it seems like Id need to make a 3/16" shim to run top to bottom behind the hinge rail (the one you screw in with the door opened). Love to hear any thoughts. Might have to make that shim, but Im surprised theres no mention of it in any videos or the "45 minute instructions". Seems like everyone should have the same issue...you cant have both a centered door and the hinge rail pressed against the jamb...unless the storm door is the exact same size as the opening, which would make the opening too small per the instructions. Hope that makes sense. Anyways, great video, thanks! 20:26
Installed a custom 3000 (42") yesterday. Although everything is plum the bottom of the door is ajar. I spent time with Anderson tech help. They decided the hinge was bent and are sending me a new one. I think I installed it wrong. The gap at the top of door is wider on the opening side closer on the hinge side looking straight at it.

Being short is a blessing. So many more places you can fit!
Haha thank you
I like the curve of the handle the way you installed it.
Thank you! You had to cut the old caulk seal like mine. Very helpful. Appreciate you and this video
Great video dude, I like how you explained everything. Peace!
