- On Monday June 5th, the Client Empowerment Council and CAMH held a panel and discussion to hear service user viewpoints about whether Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) should ever be made available to people suffering from standalone mental illness.
Even if they didn't allow MAID for mentally ill people, they could easily get around this by developing chronic back pain or any other condition that would qualify them otherwise.
You can't stop people from ending their lives if they want to badly enough, the question is, how difficult do you want to make it for them so that they have to resort to more dangerous means to end their suffering.
As somebody who is disabled physically and mentally I wish MAID was legal here in Arizona.
I feel like I'm here against my will and I feel anybody and everybody should have the god given right to decide if they want to live or not.

First q&a Lady, there is no real treatment. The only way you can help these people is by offering them an opportunity for a better life that alot of people would say they dont deserve. We live in a capitalist, materialistic hellscape.... until you get rid of the economic qualifying system we have imposed, you might as well just grace them with the freedom of death

An apocalyptic vision: Death machine on street corner, making "Sole Green" out of human bodies. Poor, exploited, destitute humans choosing to enter them. That may finally scare the super elite who will be loosing their workforce at a drastic rate. Maybe, only then, will they do something to make life bearable for the mass, so people would slowly be more likely to choose life... That pot was weird!
Exactly, and these other sheeple just don't get it. About 3 more months and I will be finally free. Most people don't even know how free the afterlife is. If most people could go out of body they would see how stupid and shitty this world is.

Hello. I struggle with mental health and suicidal thoughts. And you know what I’ve learned? Depression and other mental health issues make you view things in a way that they aren’t in reality. They make you feel like there’s no hope or that you’re a failure and that you will always fail. But with a good support system, you will be able to see through all of that. It’s disgusting how Canada is treating you all up there. Not only are they making mental health care horrible but they’re also doing this. They aren’t even bothering to improve their mental health care system and instead, they’re just making suicide easier. You were put here for a reason. And if you stick around, you will be able to find what you are meant to do with your life. You may have to look really hard but you will eventually find it. I know right screw these pro-life people they only help those in power who play the control and domination game keep us suffering here and not aware of the afterlife. I have had many experiences relating to the afterlife and its so much better and has true freedom there unlike here on this planet earth which is a prison planet and fake reality.

How do I apply for MAID
You approach a mental health facility , they will guide you through the entire process being a processing and management center for the population. Life does not need to be in suffering or failure.
My sister recently did maid in Ontario. She had to get 2 doctors to sign off on her Maid. She was terminally ill and was given 3 to 6 months to live. She made it to 3 months and had enough and set a date and a doctor administered maid. She had no mental issues though just terminal cancer. I am thankful she was able to do it as she was suffering daily.
1:20:15 I suspect that our panellist will have a different take on recognizing the "validity" of a change of mind depending solely of the direction of that change of mind (in a person with advance dementia)...
The third panelist: YES. The medical system (worldwide honestly) needs to improve for mental health, absolutely, but keeping a peaceful non-traumatizing way to bow out from people that tried all treatments just because the system isn't fixed yet seems so cruel and only ends in more deaths that traumatize people around them.
I personally hate this idea in everyone's minds that all mental illness is either curable or managable. That makes no sense, especially with how little is researched about it and how many mental illnesses persistent only because of the social and economic system we live in being the way it is.
If someone gets brain scans that show a deterioration of the brain then maybe that can count as a physical illness? For example Alzheimer's isn't considered a mental illness, it's considered a physical disease

@@ThatOne77 because our society has got to a point where we don't look after one another in the same way as we used to when we were hunter gathers. All she needed was to be told by a stranger that she had a purpose in this world and that she mattered, for her to decide not to take her own life. If that's not tragic, i don't know what is.

I feel it is dangerous because they can kill people legally which is scarry. I got disability and I am afraid that eventually they want to put me down.

@Maekklyn Not quite true. If you need to purchase a disability service that is a major expense, the doctor could give you the option to "MAID" yourself instead of being a financial burden. That happened to some people in Canada who had no intention on "MAID"ing themselves and they were caught off guard by the doctor option. In fact, I think they may have said that the government may not be able to support their disability service, so MAID is more likely.

TALK TO YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR. IF YOUR DOCTOR DENIES YOU TO HELP YOU REFER YOU TO MAID, YEET THEM. TELL THEM MAID IS BETTER ALTERNATIVE VERSUS ENDING YOUR SUFFERING IN A VIOLENT OR GRUESOME WAYS.

If I didn't have my mother around I would be out on the streets homeless so I would be suffering even more. Prices on everything is going up when it doesn't need to, we don't even need a monetary system. The monetary system is only there to enslave the population, death is the ultimate freedom and in death there's actually no such thing as death and there is an afterlife that is much more better than life here. I've had chronic pain and major depression for 20+ yrs. Recently my psychiatrist dumped me because I stopped taking medication after I had asked for a med change for months. I just gave up. Add in poverty and I'm done.
