As someone stuck in the corporate video world, this is one of the best I've ever seen. If only my clients could get out of their own way and let stories like this to be told.
Agreed for sure! Really pushing for authenticity with all of my clients. More people are starting to want this but it just takes time, trust and a character that's open to being filmed.
I think the actual challenge is not technically making the film but finding someone who is brave enough to tell his story and encourage him to do so. Well done!
Yes I agree with this for sure!! Takes a special person to be open in telling their story. I find for most of these character that doing this is really healing for them.
You’re a great storyteller! Your documentary was so good! I’m in shock. I want to get the Sony FX6 and this is literally the video that told me this is the best move! Keep it up. You gained a subscriber and a fan!
Dude - that was so so so so so good. I’m about to have negotiations with a startup who are going for a big investment and they want a pitch video. I always though narrative film making was my thing. But honestly the fact that what you made was so real was so inspiring. I’m going to think outside the box for sure when I work with clients. Authenticity is key.
Damn corporate films I'm on tend to just be jargon that I do my best to not just glaze over when I'm listening to them, supplemented with infinite hands typing and looking at monitor broll lol. That said, You did this story justice for sure.
Fantastic all around, well shot and well put together. I'm consistently advocating for real humanising stories in the corporate world and it's not always easy to get people comfortable with the idea. Great work! I will be using this as an advocating tool at work to show others how things should be done!
My favorite brands are the ones that emotionally connect with me. If I can't connect with the brand I won't buy their product often. I think people businesses need to start creating a lifestyle around their brand. One that is authentically them, open and honest. Totally agree with you!
Considering it’s a corporate shoot I really think you was able to capture the subjects vulnerability and the underlying emotion. Well done! Also what a great subject you had. Hope things turned around for him.
This is beautiful, Richard! Thanks for sharing. I'm sure the client is very happy with the result! Two questions/remarks: 1. Why the choice of letting the interviewee(s) look into the camera from one angle, but not from the other angle (for Spencer)? 2. A small remark... It overall feels and looks very cinematic (well done!), but the atmosphere and lighting when Jill McFarland speaks, it's quite bright, commercial and/or traditional corporate looking. But again, very nice and refreshing style. And well put together in the edit.
This has to be the most interesting corporate film I've ever watched 🤯 I just wanna know how long it took you to shoot or edit or both? Can we get a behind the scenes breakdown of what it was like to make this?

That's a thing indeed.. You need to be able to convince your client to follow you into this.

This is a special film. I hope it gets watched by a lot of people for both how it was shot, and more importantly for the story. Great job.
