That cap isn't original. The Snap-N-Rain didn't have a rubber nozzle turret cap. It had a solid plastic cap. The drain valve is to drain water out of the sprinkler so that in freezing climates the sprinkler doesn't crack from trapped water inside the sprinkler freezing.
Hmm interesting ! I have 5 of these all with that style of cap. It’s solid plastic with a rubber coating on top that just says “Nelson”. Maybe a revision ?
@@MikeMac89 Not sure I had several of them and they all had solid plastic caps. The catalogs also showed it with a solid plastic cap. My guess is whoever you got them from switched the caps out.
