I was the stinky girl in school. It was not safe for me to shower at home so I took every opportunity I could to shower at a friends or the locker rooms. A teachers aid (who’s husband worked with the fire/police departments of our town and somewhat knew my home situation) took me aside in junior high and gave me deodorant and extra clothes while she washed mine. In my freshman year, a teacher announced to the whole class we needed to shower and I was mortified knowing it was aimed at me. Age 16-18 I pretty much lived with 2 of my friends and was never home and didn’t stink anymore. I somehow became, not popular, but the kid who’s acquaintances with every group and invited to all the parties. Teach your kids to not be bullies. The kids they’re hurting probably have a crap home life and school is the only escape from it.

I had a stinky era in high-school not because of an unsafe home, but more so my naivety and obliviousness with hygiene. I grew up with 4 brothers who as teenagers barely washed and wore the same sweaty school clothes day after day. I lived in an incredibly hot city and would wear the same unwashed sweaty uniform, I would regularly wake up late and not put deodorant on. Hardly washed my hair and didn't scrub my feet every shower. So embarrassing, thank god Mum sat me down one day 😂💀 Dad was too shy to broach the subject.

Obviously, I have stayed in the field because I know I'm needed but it does feel good every now and then to hear someone recognize how hard it can be! Sending you a huge thank you hug 🫂 🤗 ❤️
I'm a nurse too. I didn't work today but my son had dental surgery and it's been a long day. This was a much needed distraction.

This is by far my favourite podcast, the 4 of you just play off each other so well, Jared speaking his truths and Loving his wife, Shane being Shane and Chris saying 'SHAANNE' when Shane is doing so, Ryland standing up for himself and doing his recap at the end, he was made for that. One of my closest friends since middle school is a diaper adult and its been a wild and sweet journey bc I was the first person they ever confided in about it way back in middle school and to see them slowly come out of their shell about it has been the sweetest thing. It is a crazy thing I could never do myself but I am so so happy for people who have found the community that makes sense to them!

Dental Assistant here. The "bump" on the roof of the mouth is actually an overgrowth of bone called tori. They can show up in other places as well like inside of the lower jaw by the tongue and even on the cheek side. The are harmles and very common. I have multiple patients a day that have them. The surgery to remove them is very painful and usually not recommended unless someone has so many or such large ones that it affects their everyday functions like eating or speaking. They usually always grow back as well. Don't worry Ryland!
I have an abundance of tori; I had a dentist tell me if I ever need a bone graft, I have more than enough to spare. They sometimes bother me. 😌

The only thing that works is earplugs that block all sounds. Like the small soft ones that industry workers use. It sucks, but it at least gives you the chance to be around eating people.

I recently have been diagnosed with juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy and I have been really unwell and off work for a few months adjusting to medication to stop my Seizures I’ve been having . Everytime I see you have uploaded a new video I am so excited and honestly you’re videos have been helping me so much and always keep me entertained for days when I can’t do anything. Adore you all 🤍🤍
Shane - I am an audiologist. Earplugs are a huge hoax for both misophonia and tinnitus. Honestly the best treatment is to try to retrain the way you respond to it via sound therapy. So sorry you are going through this! It’s a tough one. I’m CO if you need any help!
If I have inner ear damage from covid is it possible I can make a full recovery on that damage? Do you know any supplements or treatments to help?
Yes! I'm a carer for someone with a brain injury and the brains capacity to build new neural pathways is incredible! So much to learn about the mind and how we understand it
I have this also and it’s chewing, loud slurping and snoring and breathing loud! Those are the ones that I can’t with! Like it gets to a point that I just flip out!

Headphones don't help. I can have music/podcast playing full blast into my eyes but if there's a snorer/smacky eater in the room, it's like my brain and hearing system lock onto the noise and blocking it is impossible. I have to actually flee the situation when it's triggered.
I needed this podcast today… I had an awful day and this just gave me something to do to take my mind off of it all.

I have Misophonia too, and I have something like the Flares, mine are from the brand 'Calmer' and you have to wear them for 30 minutes before they start to work as your brain adjusts to them. They aren't that great for eating sounds, but they're great for cutting down the noise of traffic.
At my high-school, one of the student councilors was such a gossiper and desperate to be everyones best friend that she would tell anyone who listened, who was pregnant, who was failing whichever classes etc. she would let you skip class and hang out in her office for "therapy" which was just a gossip fest. Never got fired lol
One of my favorite parts of this podcast... is knowing it gives Shane and Jared and excuse to see each other more. Siblings.... if you have "that" relationship (some don't and that's ok), it's irreplaceable. I value mine so much. Again, if you don't have that, totally cool. Its just my experience. But it feels like over time they've gotten closer and it makes me happy for them 😊
