    I'm chomping at the bit to get back on my bike.
    Had a car pull out on me last June causing multiple cars and I to crash. Shattered my pelvis. During recovery my femoral head collapsed.
    Had to wait until December for the pinned and screwed pelvis to fully heal. Had a full hip replacement on Xmas Eve at the ripe old age of 47.
    Still have a couple more months of recovery to go to get the strength back in my left leg but then I'll be back out in the Scottish Highlands.
    Thanks for the videos guys. Getting my bike fix through your rides. 😊

    Its always good getting out on the bike no matter what time of year as long as you got the proper gear on its all good.
    Looks like a good ride down the coast there and nothing better than the company of fellow bike riders.

    I just watched your recent video. I also went out on Saturday and gave my bike a battery maintenance run, which is good for clearing the head. You did mention you haven't done much off-road. However, if my memory serves me correct when you are on those scooters, you did rather well when you took a shortcut turning, which turned out to be quite an adventure, you tackled it rather well. I look forward to your next video and wherever you decide to go.

    Most people go light eventually. But you have to find out for yourself. Security is the only real negative i can think of.
    Winter destinations?
    Morocco.
    Boat to Spain .
    Ride to the bottom.
    Boat to Morocco.
    Chilly at night but beautiful in the day.
    Cheap once you are there.
    Coffee. Tick.
    Cake. Not.
    But give it a go.
    Ride safe 👍

    Although I am in the SE, my Interceptor is on the drive under a cover as we have no garage. Taking her out in this weather usually results in the need for a rinse down when I get back, and trying to get the bike dry is a real pain. Ewa, I have to agree 100% with you regarding top boxes. I bought a 2005 1200GS at the end of last year and it came complete with factory panniers and a HUGE GIVI top box that will take two full face helmets! I took it straight off, and the massive metal bracket that it mounts on. When I go touring I have a 15 ltr soft bag, it's lighter, quieter and does the same job. Only managed about 200 miles so far this year, but the weather is looking good later this week for a run to Cornwall for breakfast and to stretch the legs of the GS.

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  9 дней назад +1

      We are Focusing our attention on making all our kit for this year as small and light as possible, we believe it will make a real difference especially when the going gets tough.

    • @neilmackinnon3371
      @neilmackinnon3371 9 дней назад

      @@ontheroadadventure sounds like a good plan. The GS has massive Vario panniers that came with it. They might have to change. My VStrom has 15 ltr Givi panniers which are perfect for solo travel. The tent and sleeping system travel in two roll top bags and anything else goes in a bag on the pillion seat.

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  9 дней назад +1

      @ We are obsessing over making things smaller but there are some things we just can’t budge on like using a tiny tent, it’s no good to us when we use it for weeks on end, you have to be comfortable

    • @neilmackinnon3371
      @neilmackinnon3371 9 дней назад

      @@ontheroadadventure absolutely. I have a couple of different 3 man tents and so do a few guys I have travelled with. Two mates have the Lone Rider Moto Tent, but tbh it looks like a big garage with a tiny tent attached. We all find what works for us and the requirements for two adults travelling together are very different to a solo rider.

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  9 дней назад +1

      We know have both the Lonerider Tents, The Big one is good for Festivals or staying somewhere for a few days, its nice to have the covered area at the front to hang out in and cook etc, The small ADV tent is great too but for one person, its small lightweight and good quality but only good for one man and kit

  • @nikkihayes5411
    @nikkihayes5411 9 дней назад

    I used to have a Ventura rack that I put a box on over the pillion seat for when I was commuting and swapped round to the back when the Navigator wanted to go for a ride....saves having to choose.....also when I had to go to the shops, I could have the box out back and the bag on the pillion pad🏍️💨💨👍

    • @ontheroadadventure
      @ontheroadadventure  9 дней назад +1

      Flexibility is ideal, We like that these come off so easily but would be nice to get rid along with the heavy top plate in exchange for some sort of soft bag...

    • @nikkihayes5411
      @nikkihayes5411 9 дней назад

      Not advertising but when I used to do the ride down to the Algarve each winter the ventura bag system was excellent....and could be removed easily on arrival. Re: riding in winter. Yeah, right. Where I live it is still snow mobile time. I look out of my window and see white. White everywhere. And it's cold. At times it is really cold with the wind whining in the window frames. Grey skies. Under cloudy economic circumstances. It is the new Canada. Not a land of milk and honey at the moment.
    However, on the bright side. Change is on the horizon. I can sense that we'll see spring in a couple of months and I can put the heart back in my beast and begin to enjoy the brief season that is allotted to us in Alberta. Your riding season certainly is one of the attractions left to living in the UK.
    Your bikes look excellent. Good choice to take the boxes off. With weight, those things cause your front end to be too light in my opinion. They may be handy but in my opinion not such a good idea. Side bags, panniers are a better fit, as is a goodly tank bag. Thanks for another lovely post. Hi guys, luggage…..I took your advice about the crash bar bags, brilliant.
    The NC 750 X has a frunk, so no tank bag needed; I’ve binned off the soft panniers and don’t use a top box.
    I’ve gone down the route of 2 large roll bags roc strapped to the rack plate.
    I’m now experimenting with a 65 litre ruck sack that carries all the bulky light gear.
    The saddle of the bike is stepped and I’ve got the base of the ruck sack resting on the pillion seat.
    The ruck sack is the Vango, which has an adjustable back, so it sits where you want it.

The problem here is that on sunny days, there is so much brine and salt on the roads, I'd have to thoroughly wash it after every ride, which isnt practical. Say guys... in the UK you already are in Europe, since the UK consists out of several European islands, as you probably will know. So If you want to refer to the rest of Europe; you can refer to the European Mainland or the European Continent, but you can't go to Europe from the UK, since you already are in Europe. When you are in Devon and you want to go for a ride, you do not say to each other: let's go to the UK: because you already are in the UK and so in Europe, right? The same goes for being in the UK and saying that you are going to Europe, which is virtually impossible, since you already are in the UK in Europe. Being no longer part of the EU, does not mean you are no longer part of Europe, which is a pure geographical fact that the UK is part of Europe. Have a nice ride, guys ! Until the next one !

      @ontheroadadventure , I so agree with getting it right.! There's so much gear out there you have so much to consider.
