Hello from Italy... I've bought six p30 to try out... It goes for about 10-11€ here in Italy... Anyway, I like it... Great contrast if you need it... The guys where I bought it advised me to expose it at ISO 50 so not to have the shadows too black and to do a pre-wash (5 minutes at 22 degrees Celsius) before development... So I exposed it at iso 50 and managed to do wash it for about 5 minutes at about 21 degrees Celsius, developed it with ID-11... I've even made a few prints on Ilford paper in my makeshift darkroom, and I can say I'm satisfied. Fun.

Great new voice for the film community, thank you 🙏🏽. Question - why don't you show your portrait photos? I would be interested to see how the films you review do with portraits.

Future of film photography is bright, no thanks to Kodak nor Fuji, but for Ilford who stuck by film photographers when Kodak , Fuji and Agfa called it a day back in 2010 ( Kodak are still around but their products are very very expsnsive now, and As for Fuji the less said the better ). It is great that small manufacturers like Ferrania are still active. This is certanly one ' niche ' film. I am going to develope one roll in a compensating developer and see how it copes. Thanks for the video.

Ilford is my main film to shoot mainly HP5 and FP4 but I have some delta and pan F and a few rolls of ortho which is lovely like P30

@@JonnyEnglish-gu1cs Kodak has just announced another 17% price increase from March 2023. I really think that they have lost the plot. I sincerely hope that the others do not follow Kodak, or I will pack film photograpy up, after 45 years, and go back to digital. At the end it is the photograph that matters.

@@lensman5762 I have to agree Kodak have a monopoly on colour at least they are pricing themselves out of the market I shoot Ilford and Kentmere (yes made by Ilford) a s a few other smaller brands ilford have supported the film community and done a good job we need competition in the colour market as Kodak make it all that’s where they are hurting us even portra a d ektar in 120 is now over £12 a roll £ 1 a shot wow I looked back at a old AP from 1995 Ektar was 10 rolls for £26.50 lol 😂 £ 2.65 a roll for 36 shots today prices are ridiculous luckily it’s not my living like yourself but my hobby now I don’t want to give up film I enjoy to much but see what happens 👍🏻

Wowsers.... What a dark view of the film photography market, outside of Kodak and Fuji the range of emulsions available in 2022 ( in the UK) I feel has never been better and better still now that we have the budget friendly Kemtmere available in 120 format. This aside, a great insight in this film and the background of the company.

I like this film a lot! I found the best developer for P30 in Bellini Ecofilm (Kodak Xtol equivalent). Not my nr 1 choice, but amazing film

I am a bit late to the party, but thanks for this. I am on my third roll, and it is a learning curve-the first was over developed, the second a bit thin. Not a film I would take to the beach on a sunny day, but with more diffused light, it has a classy rendering. Under exposed images-I agree, the blacks take over and become muddy. It is not something Ansel Adams would have used, but it is a good alternative (or took in the toolkit) for a retro look.

Great film stock and great images too! Too bad it's nearly impossible to get. I really want to use P30 with my Helios 40-2 for portraits. It reminds me a bit of Pan F Plus, but with even more punch. PS: It's available in Germany from MacoDirect.

I find that Ferrania P30 is three times as expansive as Fomapan 100, so I am afraid they will have a tough time trying to survive.

Would you be kind enough to do a comparison between this and the Rollei Retro 80S that you also reviewed as both are 80 ASA; you were over the moon about the 80S saying it is the sharpest etc. thank you in advance.

I’ve got a shoot-out between a number of different films in the works, Ferrania and Retro 80S will both be included. I don’t have a timeline for that video yet though.

@@noahvonhatten Thank you you for your immediate reply. Alas I went on a roller coaster ride. It is no longer available in 120 form since the new MKII iteration was released sheet film only per the website and the owner Omer Hecht. “CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII is only available in sheets. CatLABS X FILM 80 MKII was never available in roll film format.
At the moment it is not possible for us to bring this to market.”
Looking forward to the shoot-out although from everything I have seen the Ferrania P30 did not do it for me (as compared to the 80S); looking forward to learning more before I make a change after decades of shooting Tri-X rated at 200 with my FUJI GW690 III Professional; no pressure 😂
