As far as I know 489 is the only oil burning locomotive they have. I believe the only diesel locomotive on the line is a small switcher in Chama, all the normal runs are still done only with steam locomotives.
489 is the only oil burning locomotive of the C&TSR while the rest of the locomotives are coal burners. I don’t think they planned on converting the other locomotives to oil burning.
I know this comment was over a year ago now, but I Wanted to add that “489 would not be considered converted into diesel or else she wouldn’t be a Steam locomotive. It’s just Oil burning, there have been Oil burning steam locomotives even before the 1940’s.
I took this train a couple of years back. It was a fun ride and great scenery. I can't wait to go back.
