Like many of the movies from the 90s, at least the animated ones, he grows on you. I appreciate his nonchalant, as opposed to every other villain from this time. Who is, shall we say a bit overdramatic when you go to read the Percy Jackson books, I imagine, Jim James Woods here as the Hades for that too, although I don’t think he is in the live action series that Disney has since made. Which kind of sucks, because I think he would be absolutely hilarious.

@tdi21 Absolutely. Tim must be very in-touch with his inner child. He also voiced Evil Manta in the "Little Mermaid" animated TV series, and -- thought not a voice-over -- he played Long John Silver in "Muppet Treasure Island". (10/27/2024)

"If anyone attacks us, we can blink them to death" that line is just hilarious. And I'm thankfully able to watch the videos of Robin Williams during his recording sessions for Genie thanks to gettingy hands on the special 2 disc edition of Aladdin 2 years back. Finding them otherwise was always so tedious
I loved Vin Diesel as the Iron Giant. I have a huge soft spot for gentle giant characters and the Iron Giant is the main reason why and is one of my all time favorite fictional characters Also honorable mention going to Robbie Benson as the Beast. The dude had to put on a deep voice that goes from intimidating to gentle perfectly contrasting what Bensons voice actually sounds like
Tony Jay was a true legend, with a voice you just pick out from anywhere. From Frolly (Hunchback of Notre Dame), the Elder God in the Legacy of Kain series, and his fantastic performance as Megabyte in the ReBoot series.
The late Tony Jay also voiced some Legacy of Kain characters such as Mortanius (Blood Omen 1) William the Just (Blood Omen 1) Zephon (Soul Reaver) and Elder God (Soul Reaver 1, 2 and Defiance). He was also the voice of Dr. Lipschitz from the Rugrats franchise, Chair Face from The Tick cartoon just to name a few notable roles.
@@deborahbeatty OOH! He also did the voice of the 'Maison de Loon' guy in the Beauty and the Beast movie too! The one that Gaston hires to try and lock up Maurice! That deep creepy voice is unmistakable!
Yes, Robin needed to be #1. However, I disagree that his character as Batty, with just as much improvs, in Fern Gully was even better because the MESSAGES within Fern Gully would not have hit home if he hadn't played that lab-tested character so perfectly and endearingly. I think other great singing actors could have pulled off the Genie, but it was Robin's acting and improvs in Fern Gully that made the audience truly care about things being done and hurting creatures because of our actions.
James Earl Jones as Muffasa really should have made the list. No other voice could have given that character such a commanding feeling. It was so impactful that they used him for it again in the live action.
James Woods should’ve been much higher, his performance as Hades is (imo) second only to Robin Williams’s Genie. 🤩 I would’ve put Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Potts and Jerry Orbach as Lumière tied at number 3 - their performances are equally iconic, and Jerry Orbach’s performance as the french-accent-speaking candelabra deserves way more recognition. 💕
All of these are great voice actors, particularly Eddie Murphy as Mushu and Robin williams as Genie, but this list missed the voice actors from the Road to El Dorado, Kevin Klein I think and I can’t remember the other guys name, but they were outstanding together.
OMG! I've seen all of these Disney movies and they're all my favorites, including the voice actors! Billy Joel and James Earl Jones, including Jeff Bennett, Kristen Schaal, Seth McFarlane, Patrick WarBurton, Mark Hamill, Tara Strong, Eddie Murphy, Mel Blanc and Kath Soucie are my most favorite actors/actresses! Seth and Patrick are HILARIOUS as Peter and Joe in Family Guy!
I didn't see The Prince of Egypt, but the actor's name was Ralph Fiennes, not Ray Fiennes. Anyway, here are my favorite voice-acting performances of the 90s: Robin Williams, The Genie, Aladdin, Batty Koda, Fern Gully Paige O'Hara, Belle, Beauty and the Beast Tom Hanks, Woody, Toy Story Tim Allen, Buzz Lightyear, Toy Story Robby Benson, The Beast, Beauty and the Beast Scott Weiner, Aladdin Hank Azaria, Bartok, Anastasia Billy West, Bugs Bunny, Space Jam Kath Soucie, Lola Bunny, Space Jam Angela Lansbury, Mrs. Potts, Beauty and the Beast Danny Elfman, Jack Skellington (singing), The Nightmare Before Christmas
Tom Hanks did a fantastic job voicing the cowboy hero Woody in the whole ‘Toy Story’ franchise, let’s hope the 5th one will be the LAST after the 30th anniversary of the franchise…
I’m going to say all of them because that was such a childhood back in the 90s when I was younger and can’t forget about the TV series is well with some of the other voice actors.
The late great Robin Williams & James Earl Jones for sure!!! But lest we forget about the underrated role of Grandmother Willow in Pocahontas voiced by the incredible Linda Hunt!!!
James Earl Jones. Though it wasn't animated, he was the voice of Darth Vader. Not only did he bring Mufasa to life in The Lion King, but he brought us the Daedric Lord Molag Bal, the main villain for years in The Elder Scrolls Online, one of the biggest and longest running multiplayer games out there (I am a daily player of this awesome game). James Earl Jones was a master narrator, and his list of narration pieces is too long to list here but all are fantastic! He was simply the best. RIP, James.
I am glad Susan Egan was mentioned. Her Megara is one of my favorite Disney animated characters. That character's wit and slightly jaundiced view of the world really appealed to me, for some reason.
Great job on this list of top 20 voice actors and RIP to the some of the great and talented people we have lost over the years they maybe gone but never forgotten 👍❤️😢
Tim Curry absolutely slays as Hexxus in Fern Gully. I grew up watching that movie on VHS, but I found Hexxus so frightening that I always had to skip his song and dialogue. Watching it as an adult I can fully appreciate how incredibly talented Tim Curry is. What an incredible voice and acting talent he is.
I don't think many people know that Vin Diesel was also in The 5th Element. But only his voice can be heard. He is Corbin Dallas's (Bruce Willis) boss and he's talking to him on the phone about bringing his taxi car in for service.
Tony Jay also lent his voice to video games, most notably Legacy of Kain Blood Omen and Soul Reaver. And Tom Hanks’ brother was the toy voice box for woody.
In all honesty, as much as I adored most of these picks, one in particular was missing. What I believe to be one of if not the best voice acting performance of the 1990s was Robby Benson as both the Beast and the Prince (AKA Prince Adam) in 1991's Beauty and the Beast. The softness he was able to give Beast, the way he didn't play him as an entirely dark and angry monster, and was also able to play the human version of the character all make for one of the most amazing voice performances ever.
Was there ever any doubt who would be Number 1? Robin Williams will forever be the GOAT. Also, no one can play are more entertaining evil guy like Tim Curry! Who is also the GOAT.
For Susan Egan, don’t forget she gets her princess energy form when she portrayed the original Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. Disney almost didn’t let her audition for Meg but she convinced them that sassy and edgy was the REAL her and that “Belle” was just her great acting.
Mary Kay Bergman didn't just pass away. She delt with severe anxiety that lead to stress and physical symptoms. All of which culminated with her commiting suicide.
I am an ace but Curry's portrayal of Hexxus almost, ALMOST makes me feel things. Also Frollo is one of the best villains, but I still can't unhear him as Virgil in Mighty Max. Transient properties being what they are: Virgil lusts for Esmerelda.

Tom Hanks did a fantastic job voicing the cowboy hero Woody in the whole ‘Toy Story’ franchise, let’s hope the 5th one will be the LAST after the 30th anniversary of the franchise…
It should have ended after 3 ends
I’m going to say all of them because that was such a childhood back in the 90s when I was younger and can’t forget about the TV series is well with some of the other voice actors.
The Iron Giant ❤❤❤❤beyond perfect
The late great Robin Williams & James Earl Jones for sure!!! But lest we forget about the underrated role of Grandmother Willow in Pocahontas voiced by the incredible Linda Hunt!!!
Classic Tim!!!

I LOVED THE GENIE!
Great job on this list of top 20 voice actors and RIP to the some of the great and talented people we have lost over the years they maybe gone but never forgotten 👍❤️😢
Ralph Fiennes was *awesome* as Rameses!
You left out Kirsten Dunst and Lacey Chabert as the voices (speaking and singing) of YOUNG Anastasia
Who didn’t see Robin Williams as Genie being at the top? RIP you legend.
I love tim curry in FernGully he did awesome amazing job doing at song in the movies
Jim Cummings - Literally everything
Do a top 20 Best - Spanish Dubbed - Voice Acting Performances in 90's movies!!!
Happy saturday afternoon, Jen, take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well
Missed out on a goofy movie but the list is solid
I don't think many people know that Vin Diesel was also in The 5th Element. But only his voice can be heard. He is Corbin Dallas's (Bruce Willis) boss and he's talking to him on the phone about bringing his taxi car in for service.
Tony Jay also lent his voice to video games, most notably Legacy of Kain Blood Omen and Soul Reaver. And Tom Hanks’ brother was the toy voice box for woody.
It still makes me smile that JEJ showed up to record Mufassa in a suit and tie. He was a gentleman
Driver as Jane was perfection.💯
When I saw this title, there was only 1 correct answer for the top spot! He’s big, blue, and vocally packed a punch
This top is amazing, I love Robin Williams
Was there ever any doubt who would be Number 1? Robin Williams will forever be the GOAT.
Also, no one can play are more entertaining evil guy like Tim Curry! Who is also the GOAT.
As soon as I seen Iron Giant was 20 on this list I knew there was gonna be some "heavy hitters" on this list and I wasn't wrong
Nobody who has seen Blackadder was surprised at Rowan Atkinson's performance for Zazu: Zazu and Blackadder are almost the same character!
Vin Diesel as the Iron Giant really shook me up
Tony Jay also voiced the Elder God in the Legacy of Kain series.
I love the fact that so many villains are English, 😂
For Susan Egan, don’t forget she gets her princess energy form when she portrayed the original Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. Disney almost didn’t let her audition for Meg but she convinced them that sassy and edgy was the REAL her and that “Belle” was just her great acting.
Thought his name was Ralph Fiennes. Not Ray, 🤔 14:16
He pronounces his name “Rafe” which is what she’s saying.
Yesss's Wooooo'o !!!!!
8:36 Timon and Pumbaa are cute. 🦁🦁🦁🦁🦁🐊🐊🐊🦓🦓🐗🐗🐗🐗🐘🐘🐘🦏🦏🦏🦒🦒🦛🦛🦛🦛🦍🦍🐆🐆🎥🎥🎥🎥🎥Simba and Nala are still awesome, Zazu is still cute, the hyenas are cute, etc.
You should have specified "90's AMERICAN/DISNEY/PIXAR movies (except for South Park)." Parochial.
Mary Kay Bergman didn't just pass away. She delt with severe anxiety that lead to stress and physical symptoms. All of which culminated with her commiting suicide.
Jeremy Irons' voice in The Lion King changed my little child brain chemistry
3:23 Freaked me out as a child, but loved that movie.
I am an ace but Curry's portrayal of Hexxus almost, ALMOST makes me feel things.
Also Frollo is one of the best villains, but I still can't unhear him as Virgil in Mighty Max. Transient properties being what they are: Virgil lusts for Esmerelda.
