I chose this song for my mother's funeral a little over a year ago while carrying her urn in at the beginning of the service...so speaking from experience, I can attest to this being 100% true. Also, an absolutely gorgeous arrangement and performance of a perfect song.
My dog is getting older and it’s difficult to see but a thought that calms me down or just helps with the grief is that everything in the cycle even if we can’t really grasp it and you can kind of see it in nature the trees have to die to be reborn in spring and rain must fall to go back up and water the earth elsewhere. There’s just a pattern to all life and I’m sure much of it’s unseen. But it helps me to think that he might be a bumblebee one day or maybe a cat the next. He’d hate being a cat. But maybe we are here to learn and when we’ve spent our time we go on to learn what it is to be a worm or whatever. And so while we miss our friends and loved ones we can also celebrate their life and wish them luck for wherever they’re headed next. I hope you’re feeling better now. I know that pain must stay but try to stay cheerful about the sad things in life
Wow. This is scary good. This blew me away at first listen. I've watched so many covers of this song I was a little let down to not hear pinched harmonics at the 1:00 section, as a few of the other guitarists do, but on re-listen to the Aphex Twin version, he doesn't play at a higher register at that part, so this is a bit more accurate. But let's be honest, those harmonics sections totally elevate this piece to a whole new dimension.
This is absolutely superb. I heard one that was nearly as good but arrenged for two guitars (the one from mike godette), and I prefers this one as it sounds very pure. You captured the spirit of the track. Well done sir!
