  • On my trip to Las Vegas I rented a Cessna 172 plane and a well qualified instructor to fly into the Grand Canyon. The Grand Canyon has so may crevices and hidden low lands that it made for an awesome 4 hour flight. We landed at some little known air strips and runways, and I also got some good experience with wind over the mountains, and high density altitude.

He’s a really good instructor at West Air. I had a different instructor but occasionally he would substitute and I learned a lot. He used to fly backcountry in Alaska so you were in good hands in this situation. Great video and great job flying.

Awesome, My Dad had his commercial and private license, instrument rated and multi engine rating, and just retired from 33 yrs at Lockheed Martin, hes in his 70s now and hadn't flown for years, but spent many times in my childhood riding in a 172s, 150s and 310s, I was about to start ground school for helos when i was diagnosed with menieres disease, ( vestibular disease) had that not happened would have had both rotor and fixed wing licenses by now, scenery looked great, must of been a site in real life, oh and your wearing the right shirt too! great vid!

Tony Hayes thanks a bunch, I think life is short so I try to do as many fun things as possible when I can. I’ve had some older family members who haven’t been able to do some of the things they wanted to do because physical limitations caught up to them before they had a chance. I really don’t want that to happen.
