Every time I see another unison ad it just makes me angrier at how aggressively they target new producers and are very clearly successful with it. I mean who even are these so called producers shilling for them in all the commercials and why do they ride them so hard?
a guy from unison audio hit me up to program some software for them a few months ago & they wanted me to basically copy some other company's plugin as a "test" to see if they would let me work on their other stuff. it gets better though; they wanted me to PAY (with my own money) for this plugin they wanted to copy to use as a reference. i didn't even dignify that LinkedIn message with a response 😅
Don't like unison!?! You gotta be kidding. They are the foundation of every successful career. Paul McCartney was using the chords way back. Quincy Jones won't admit it, but he was using the print version of the chord pack when he worked on Michael Jackson's hits. Dude. U-n-i-s-o-n. U-n-i-s-o-n. U-n-i-s-o-n. Like, if you just put all their plugins in series on every channel in your project--sometimes in a different order--you get a hit song *every time.* Shhhh.
It’s easy to tell which companies really get into it to try to make a quick buck off beginners. Then there’s companies like Fabfilter, Spectrasonics or izotope who get genuine support because they clearly make products that really help the creative and step up their production. When that’s the primary focus, it’s a win win because they end up making way more money than the companies that just try to come up real quick.
I hate that I "undersell" my products. I can't help it. I try to make the product speak for itself. I just can't bring myself to say spew nonsense about how great a product is when I know it's subjective and people will hear it and decide for themselves. Maybe I'm not aggressive enough though?
