You can't deny that as a kid the spyro franchise was so creative and inmersive. One of the first game that made me fall in love with gaming and also a game that was so original.
I remember, as a child, being so scared of this final boss after months of playing with my dad and enjoying every single moments of this awesome game, that I could'nt do it.. I felt so strange about the music, the big boss in front of me.. I threw the game out the window and had nightmares of Gnasty Gnorc for two, maybe three nights.. Now that I'm 18, and know how it really ends, I can die in peace.. Thanks!
Well it's an interesting debate but I think that Spyro 2 added a lot more to the game than the original. Spyro 1 had no inhabitants, no swimming, no hovering, no climbing, no mini games unless you count the flights, the list goes on... and I feel that Spyro 1 did not allow us to relate to the game and the characters as much as the 2nd one did.
What an anticlimactic final boss. I always fell off the collapsing platforms which made me think there was going to be a harder battle at the end and I just wasn't prepared.
Small world! I was watching your Data org videos to help me get through my pro codes trophy and then after that, as a coincidence, started playing the Spyro reignited trilogy with my sis. Was referencing PS1 footage here and there throughout the game and stumbled onto you here!
OMG SO MUCH NOSTALGIA! this used to be my all time favorite game, I would go over to my freinds house like every day and play this and some of the original crash games on his ps1... good times
nice walkthrough, i came back to beat the game about eleven years later. great thing to accomplish, going back to beat a game you didnt beat as a child. the fact that you had to run the whole time instead of half fly/glide, allowed me to beat it. again, nice walkthrough,
He runs away? No offense to anyone who likes this game, but think I like the boss fight with him from A Hero's Tail better. You know, when he actually fights back.
You mean you don't like having bosses with ungodly amounts of health to the extent it made the game tedious and grueling as opposed to actually being fun? You also don't like having to be super reliant on magic to do anything, but you run out very quickly? And you don't like having an entire game be in crappy lighting? I have no idea what they were thinking when they made the Spyro games past the OG three. A 5-year-old could have made better games than everything passed 3.
This is the hardest level of the game cause you can't see whats ahead of you when your sprinting you can easily fall off and on the final part of flying from the platforms you have to jump right at the edge of the platforms just to make it to the next one and fast too or else you will easily fall off and when you die in this level you have to start the whole level from the beginning no check points
I never beat this. I got to him, completed all missions, then my disk broke. T_____T Biggest middle finger of my childhood. But I get to watch the end now! XD
Spyro is my childhood. It was my first ps1 game, my first experience with a console... I was a child when my parents give me this game!! I have to say I thought at the first time the frozen dragons were villains!! It made me so happy :) Of course I played Ripto's Rage and Year of the Dragon, but I do think the best game ever is Spyro The Dragon. But, I should say I never got beat gnasty gnorc... :'( Despite the fact, I love Spyro, he is my hero!!
@Vahkahron -- No, they haven't made a Spyro game since Spyro: Year of the Dragon, that's the third one. They sold the franchise a while ago because they thought they couldn't any further with him, because he had no hands to grasp things.... A stupid idea, I think, but hey, they went on to make Ratchet & Clank, so I shouldn't complain....
The Original spyro trilogy are still my fav games since i was younger, cant believe what has happened to him and how people have changed him in the newest games, the new generation of kids will never experience spyro as we did :/ sad isnt it
It's been years since I played this, too. I was a born natural when I first played it, but I didn't think of myself as that because I was young and I didn't know that word.
@949paintball yes they have they made 2 new ones a wile ago and the first new one shows what realy happened in his life and the second one lays off where it ended...
Your video is fine, but I cannot agree with your view of the games. I find Ripto's Rage to be, by far, the best of the original series. It's the only one I go back to play constantly. Tough bosses, cool level design, interesting characters, it just has it all. This is just way too simple. Maybe not easy, but simple still. The finale against Ripto just felt so epic, a much better boss fight.
The only way I have ever been able to catch Gnasty is to bypass the first s-curve and steps at the beginning of the chase and just fly over to the covered bridge. I nearly fly into him every time and then it's on. lol. Before the shortcut, it took at the least, 3 trips around but I get him on the first lap with the fly over.
If you can, I'd recommend downloading Season of Flame and Attack of the Rhynocs. They were both really good games for the GBA and they added more things to the series, with Season of Flame being the first game that let Spyro switch between different breaths and Attack of the Rhynocs added RPG elements to the series, such as side quests and upgrades.
While it is true that the 2nd & 3rd games had more memorable characters. I think I can back up the lack of original characters in the 1st, because that was the only old Spyro game that took place in The Dragon Realms. The second one takes place in Avalar. And, the third takes place in The Forgotten Realms.
Spyro 1 was a great game. Great for it's time. While I enjoyed Spyro 2 and YotD more, this game was quite fun to play to fully understand the story of the original (classic) Spyro story. I would say trilogy but Enter the Dragonfly and A hero's Tail also added onto the story. Only thing I never liked was the fact this battle was a mere chase. Unlike 2 & 3. Ah man. Thank god for Emulators is what I say. :D Loads of childhood memories here.
I think I had that same glitch. I remember thinking it was supposed to be a race as a kid. I didn't realize I had to flame him. Watching this now makes me realize how easy it was. I've been playing the game for 2 weeks on and off now, and I'm about to go to Gnasty's world. Hopefully it's not just a big chase this time!
It sucks that I used to have a memory card that had the whole game completed (including all the treasure in "Gnasty's Loot"), but I lost that card years ago and I have tried to get back to that status once again ever since. I have also completed the other two Spyro games on the PS1 (With their secret levels as well) and I DO agree: The PS1 Spyro games were not just the best but the only good ones out there.
omg, i totally agree with you, i had those awesome games on my ps1 but it broke down, until then i'm trying to find the cool games on PC, i only found crash team racing, by the way, how do you keep the memcard UNformatted?
this game was sooooooo good back in the day, and it still is. i always found this guy really dificult, just because of all the tight corners, but i still managed to beat him alot :D
I remember enjoying Enter the Dragonfly as a kid, but I also remember getting almost every dragonfly(think I was missing 2 or 4) in the 5 days I had it rented.
@IamAston Agreed.Spyro`s voice was ruined in spyro 5:a hero`s tail(If there was one thing spyro 4 has over 5 is that spyro had a better voice in 4 than 5).
Spyro 1, 2, 3, and Heroes Tail are Awesome. Enter the Dragonfly looked like Jelly and the 3 new Games are just Lord of the rings with a messed up 'new' Spyro thrown into it. The Games up to 2005 are classic, and everyone needs to have a go on them once in their life.
@SuperCartiel Unsure, I never really watched any of the animated shows they made, mostly the live action ones, like Mystic Knights, VR Troopers, and Big Bad Beetle Borgs. The only animated Saban show I know they were involved with was the 1st and 2nd season of Dragonball Z.
yup, left for Florida on vacation in the first grade, came back home and the house was burglarized :( sad times, when your beloved PS1 gets taken away ;[
I know, and I personally believe that Enter the Dragonfly could have been good if the developers were given AT LEAST four more months to work on it (they were only given six months). To top it off, when the game failed, Universal placed full blame on the developers and closed them down after work on one game.
Actually I tried to flame him too. It just seemed that everytime he got to that one platform I never could reach him quick enough before he swung his club and ran away. I did that for 30 minutes or more.
the 3 first spyro were pretty fun, what happened then? I didn't played the dragonfly, I played a heroes tails (and hated it so much), a new beggining is hard and quite boring too
I haven't played this game in forever, but I'm still trying to beat it. I beat the boss but for some reason I'm miss 100 coins out of 500. Any idea where those 100 coins are?
OMG, I remember this now. But please help me out. I'm 14, played this when i was pretty young. I beat him, but I think I remember there being something extra to unlock after I beat him. I never got all the gems I don't think, is there something else if you get everything?
"Then again, only this and the 3rd game are good. The others are pretty bad" Ripto's Rage, bad? Wha-well this video is from 2007, that's _11 frickin' years_ so whatsit matter. The final boss was a joke...
But the obstacles is hell.
true xDD what it's ironic is that it takes only 2 hits to deffear him when other bosses take 3 hits xD
Greeny Yoshi (RockStoneLee19) i never finished it and now the CD is fucked. It freezes mid way through
@@renekonschak3193which is why it's terrible

I can deny it
@@SebTheGreat84 lol. you just broke through the matrix. don't agree though, although very far from my favorite games spyro was fun as hell

Thanks!
Giulio valente i was scared of some of the characters too.
that sounds extremely exaggerated, but yeah, when you'r young some bosses can be scary.
I remember this actually frustrating just cause I would always run off the edge and stuff
Mike OMG SAME!! I just got to him in the Reignited Trilogy and the fight was a NIGHTMARE
R.I.P. Gnasty Gnorc: The only guy I knew who could make running away look completely badass.
This game needs an HD remake ASAP.
indeed
Heh...
Wish granted, Spyro remastered trilogy announced yesterday
Steven Dolce you saw the future
Your dream came true
What an anticlimactic final boss. I always fell off the collapsing platforms which made me think there was going to be a harder battle at the end and I just wasn't prepared.
Man Spyro 1 and 3 were amazing I love the music from these classic ones. I loved the dream weavers world with the crazy gun in the middle :D
Oh god memories... Too many memories.
Small world! I was watching your Data org videos to help me get through my pro codes trophy and then after that, as a coincidence, started playing the Spyro reignited trilogy with my sis. Was referencing PS1 footage here and there throughout the game and stumbled onto you here!
You feel your heart pounding like mad and your hands sweating, you know you're playing a great game when you first get those all-or-nothing jitters!
OMG SO MUCH NOSTALGIA!
this used to be my all time favorite game, I would go over to my freinds house like every day and play this and some of the original crash games on his ps1... good times

Those damn sliders took me a good hour and a half to figure out! Haha, love this game!
it's a shame that gnasty gnork only stood 2 hits when the other bosses stood 3 xDDDD
ahh tanks for upload this brings back so many gr8 memorys
"You're toast, Gnorc!"
He runs away? No offense to anyone who likes this game, but think I like the boss fight with him from A Hero's Tail better. You know, when he actually fights back.
This game is better than that game will ever be.
very polite way of expressing your opinion. I commend you sir
I loved this video game when I was younger. I never got to beat Gnasty though, but I got very close. It was tons of fun. Memories. :)
Ahhh memories... These three were the best Spyro games ever with the first being the best. Any other Spyro game can go to hell. Lol
You mean you don't like having bosses with ungodly amounts of health to the extent it made the game tedious and grueling as opposed to actually being fun? You also don't like having to be super reliant on magic to do anything, but you run out very quickly? And you don't like having an entire game be in crappy lighting? Not even gonna lie, stepmom calls asking how to do it, look it up and watch the video...and helped out a lot lol. Your the coolest man.

BlackWingedSeraph Same. Just tried to play it today.
Wow. Some final boss. The only challenge seems to be having to keep up with the guy when he runs away...
Well the game was pretty fukin hard when your were 6 years old like i was
yup lmao
yep
I didnt even try flaming him, i thought you were supposed to hit him in the back during the chase -___-
yeah i loved playin this game when i was younger i startin to think about getting it again

Agree with the comment so much. Literally would play it 1000 times and still not get sick of it.

How can u say spyro 2 wasn't good. It kicked this games ass
@949paintball yes they have they made something called the legend of spyro and legend of spyro 2 and they were actually made a while ago
Just bought a ps1 and spyro yesterday. Can't wait to play it again.
For sure this brings back some memories :)
this is THE BEST GAME EVER!!!! spyro 1 and spyro 3 were by FAR my favorite games for ps1
This was obviously the best game by far!

Most. Disappointing. Final. Boss. Ever.
true!!! xD the ironic part is that rhe other bosses takes you 3 hits to kill them but this final boss take only 2 hits xD
You'd think that a Final Boss would take more than two hits and be less of a runaway boss...
I agree with you on everything except A Hero's Tail, that gave me headaches by just playing it for a few minutes.
While it is true that the 2nd & 3rd games had more memorable characters. What's with the Toasy Music of the 1st world boss and is that music in that world for real.
"What about Ghanasy, Ghanorc?"
Love the way they pronounce it Gnasty Gnorc.
Thats it? A little bland for a last boss wouldn't you think?
Your looking at my childhood right here.
One of the most awsome games of all time
Oh god this brings me back...
I think I had that same glitch. I remember thinking it was supposed to be a race as a kid. I didn't realize I had to flame him. Watching this now makes me realize how easy it was. You've probably missed the dragon in Gnorc Gnexus; it appears twice (once as soon as you get it and once again after this fight)

brings back old memories

Which Spyro game is the 3rd one?
I love this game so much! I wish I owned it, I had to rent it. My favorite Spyro game is the 3rd one, but this is a close second.
OMG This game was so awesome when I was little!
He looks so ridiculous with his huge club, but with the inability to even hurt Spyro!

It ends in such a sudden way that i thought that i skipped the cutscene lol
The funniest thing is Spyro’s laugh right before it cuts to the end cutscene
Why was Spyro 2 bad?
@aduff20 -- No, Insomniac Games only made the first three Spyro games...
I'll download them soon.
I have a GBA emulator lying around begging to be used.
I only used it once, so I'll travel to RomFreaks now.
As kids me and my siblings called those thieves egg man. I watched this vid as a 29 year old and still called them egg man
What about Season of Ice, Season of Flame, and Attack of the Rhynocs?
omg i have such a craving to play the first three again!!! i gotta hunt this down
Actually I tried to flame him too. It just seemed that everytime he got to that one platform I never could reach him quick enough before he swung his club and ran away. I did that for 30 minutes or more.
I have never played them. Well, I played Season Of Flame once but that was on someone elses GBA.
it seemed like a good game
It is in the PSN store. Just got 120% myself a few minutes ago.
Just check under PS1 classic games.
the 3 first spyro were pretty fun, what happened then? I didn't played the dragonfly, I played a heroes tails (and hated it so much), a new beggining is hard and quite boring too
@ArtisticNemesis whaat i had all those games on ps 1 when i was like 7-8 years old you did read my childhood :D
It always made me laugh at how Gnasty Gnorc ran so fast with those tiny legs.
why i cant have access to this level? 79 dragons and 9600 jems...
This was my childhood.
The first 3 games were my childhood.
