Me: attentively watches a video on how many miles you should put on an exotic car but doesn’t own a exotic car smh. Can anyone else relate ? 😂😂😂. Love the content.
This is 100% the way to do things if you want to swap cars every couple of years like you do. Variety is the spice of life, I can respect that. I think there's also a strong case to be made though for looking at exotics that have already done most, if not all, of their depreciation as a way to sort of guilt-less-ly put miles on something fun (at an admittedly lower "prestige" bracket). For example, if you went out today and bought an Audi R8 4.2 (the V8 version) with ~30k miles on it for ~$60,000usd. You have a car that looks, sounds, and more or less goes "exotic". You could also double the mileage and probably only lose $5k in value. The balance is that you're more likely to run into some shop bills. *That* said, it'd take a LOT of shop bills to offset what the first owner lost in depreciation from ~$150k --> $60k. (YMMV, this comes from an idiot with 283,000 miles on an old NSX and a Gallardo bought with 64k miles now with 67k after less than a year).
If you've made it to that point in life, you're probably unlikely to just throw money away. Regardless of whether or not you care about how much a car will/might depreciate, I think it doesn't hurt to have an idea of how much it will cost, especially if you don't plan on keeping the car long term.
I love the type of content you make. I like how you talk about what it’s like owning a super car and how much it costs, and talk about the problems come up with ownership of a super car. Its very interesting to listen to how it is owning a super car. Since in the future I want to own a super cars its nice to now everything about ownership.
Good points. I daily drive my NSX all year round here Saskatchewan, but........I live 5 blocks away from work in a town of 5000 people. Still, after a year and a half of ownership I've put 17,000 km on the car. I've done road trips to BC etc....Excellent point regarding keeping the car....I bought an S2000 in 2007...still have it 13 years later...STi in 2013...still have...NSX new in 2018....will keep....
That's the best thing about my very high mileage mx5 I drive the doors off it everyday and it's still worth nothing like when I bought it 10 years ago lol...great video I aspire to a 4c which could happen next year if I keep working my arse off...cheers from new Zealand
Can you please make a vid on how to finance a super car please ( how much to put down, how much per month, how much do you think should have on the bank account, etc ..)?
I've often heard that 400mi/month is best to keep everything well lubricated and functioning properly. Some people say older cars with lower milage tend to have issues with seals etc what do you think?
I just found your channel a little under a month ago and I'm hooked on your videos! I think my favorite one was the one where you justified the reasons as to why an exotic car is worth it. This is definitely off topic but would you recommend waiting a few months to buy an exotic car in case they drop more? I've been searching for a gen 1 v10 Audi R8 for a few months now but can never decide when the best time to buy is... Keep up the great work Josh, these videos are an absolute joy to watch!
Personally, unless it was an absolutely insane deal, I probably wouldn't buy a car right now. I think it's really difficult to say what the market on higher-end cars will do in the next few months. I personally see that prices will drop. How much, I have no clue? Nobody does at this point.
I like your videos keep going. People love the real talk. For my own taste tho, I think you don't have to cover every edge case just to not offend anybody or to later justify "yeah but he said it is like that". Instead I would prefer "In my experience high mileage doesn't matter because of X and it does matter when doing Y". Anyway you do good work here, keep it up!
Unlimited miles, Daily Drive that shit... Im buying it, with no plans to sell it, so i don't care how many miles i drive it, im gonna enjoy it, Period...
Wow finally someone like minded I’ll be getting a huracan evo rwd as a daily driver I have stocks don’t work for anyone will be driving the car as much as I want looking forward to long ass trips🤤❤️
I know a Lexus GS-F isn't exactly a "supercar" or really anything on that level. But I'm going to get one for my daily driver once the beer flu is over.
Would you ever consider getting an older supercar with a manual transmission? Perhaps a 2000s gated manual Lambo etc cos they're seen as more "driver cars" or does the manual gearbox not really have your interest like some enthusiasts?
Does it interest me, absolutely, but is it a top of the list priority for me in terms of cars that I'd like to own, probably not. I'll be honest in saying that I didn't grow up around manual cars. I didn't do much driving until I could afford to buy my own car, and while I have had manual cars, it's not something that I feel is a necessity for me to enjoy a car. Not to mention that a lot of the 2000s or earlier manual supercars can be an absolute nightmare in regards to reliability! I'd love a Murci, but I've heard of and have seen so many issues people have had that I'm less inclined to own one. I actually have a video planned where I'm going to talk about the 5 cars that i currently have my eye on. Mustang GT350s are dropping in price though...
@@carproblems8547Okay, so they interest you but you don't think generally it would make your experience much more exciting when it comes to driving your cars? That's fair enough. And yeah of course older cars come with their problems but if all sorted, a manual LP-640 I reckon you still wouldn't lose much on, and a good shout with the GT350! Loving the vids:)
I'm in Sarnia and was in an motorcycle accident in 2020. We settled in court for 8mill. Now I'm looking at a 2019 Lambo with 3200kms. OR a brand new 2022 C8 but I REALLY want the lambo because well, nobody has one here 😄 I'm 38 so Insurance should be low (ish) and Audi is in London so maintenance should be low and easy. I'm thinking about it but I don't know what to do
The big takeaway from this, putting everything else aside, is that, besides being uncomfortable and lacking storage space, it's a waste to drive these cars around town or in heavy traffic. My 2013 C63 is an exotic supersedan, but it rides stiff, is hard to get in and out of with the great big bolsters that are great after you get in, and is a gas hog. I take it on longer trips out of town when traffic is light. The rest of the time I drive a Honda Civic auto, stock suspension, upgraded wheels/tires. If you do sell one of these.....either sell to a private party or have the dealer consign it. Get a limited production Ferrari in the upcoming recession and you can get it for a great price. When you sell the Huracan let me know......I know someone who may be interested.
What’s your opinion on hybrid cars? I just got my 2017 330e and I’m very happy with it so far. Of course i would’ve rather had a 330i that has the same amount of power, but due to how taxes work in my country (Norway), that car is just to expensive for me. (I’m only 20 yrs old) Do you think owning a hybrid is kinda cheating to get more horsepower? I get that vibe from some people at least.
I don't have a problem with it and haven't really driven many hybrids, so I don't really have a strong opinion on them. If you look at the top level of performance cars that are coming out now, many of them are incorporating a hybrid system to increase performance, while also meeting stricter emissions standards. I think we're going to see more and more hybrid cars in general over the next 10 years.
The Turbos S is an amazing car. My trouble with a newer Turbo S is that the price is about the same, if not more in certain cases, than a GT3, which is the type of 911 I would personally rather have. As a daily driver though, I'm sure the Turbo S is one of the best choices you can make in that category.
Would you ever get something along the lines of a mustang gt 500 or corvette something that is a more fun/ less worry for those that do really drive there cars aka drags, mods, and street racing
I'm 6 foot. There's plenty of room for me in the AMG and Perf, although the spyder version of the Huracan is too tight for me. I would say that I'm the maximum height of what works in a 4c. I'm not uncomfortable in the car, but it's snug lol
I believe in the US dealers are allowed to make a "market adjustment" on the price of a new car if they want to. In places where that's not allowed, the car would technically have to be sold as used, even if it's technically not a used car, although I'm sure there are other ways dealers can charge you more. Unfortunately, once the brand has sold the car to the dealer or to any individual, they're free to do what they want with it. Ford had everyone who was allocated the new Ford GT sign a contract where they couldn't resell the car before owning it for 24 months. Most didn't, some did and the contract didn't really stop them. That contract is up for early cars that were delivered and owners are still trying to sell them for over list. That's just how it is right now.
I think if you work hard for what you've earned, you don't just throw it away. Don't get me wrong, I don't completely stress out about losing money with cars like this, but I definitely think it's a good idea to have a plan before getting into it and having an idea of how much a certain car will ultimately cost you.
@@carproblems8547 understood. I certainly wanna reach a point in life where I'm successful enough to never worry about depreciation of my cars if I ever buy some.
Idk. When you get past the badges on the hood, and the numbers on paper, they're just cars, and deserve to be driven. If I was buying a used exotic (which I hope to be in a few years, if a Lotus Elise counts), I would be wary of low mileage examples because that would signify that the previous owner(s) didn't drive it regularly. Cars, regardless of make or model, need to be driven regularly to circulate fluids, lubricate seals, pressurize internals, and the like. When a car is not driven regularly, fluids stagnate, seals dryrot, internals become delicate, and the car ends up becoming unreliable simply because it is never driven. Not regularly driving exotics is especially inexcusable now given how comfortable and reliable modern examples have become. I can understand not daily driving a Countach or something like that. A Huracan, however, is practically a Mercedes by comparison (in terms of comfort), and mechanically is pretty bulletproof for a V10-powered car.
I didn't get into that in this video, but I agree with you. When you're talking about cars that are 6+ years old, if they've just been sitting, once you do start to actually drive a car like that, something is likely to go wrong.
