Chiemsee is the largest lake in Bavaria, Germany. It is very close to Munich city which makes it ideal for the day trip. HerrenInsel and Fraueninsel Islands lie in the middle of Lake Chiemsee and these are the major tourist attractions. Lake Chiemsee is easily accessible by public transportation.

Here is the itinerary of our trip to Chiemsee -
- Train from Munich Ostbahnhof to Prien am Chiemsee (1 hr journey)
- Prien am Chiemsee to Chiemsee lake by Chiemsee bahn (10 minutes). Check out this website for timetable www.chiemsee-schifffahrt.de/d...
- Chiemsee to Herreninsel by ferry (10-15 minutes). Tickets to this ferry can be bought on board and it is valid for any type of boat heading towards any of the stops at Chiemsee.
- At Herreninsel visited Herrenchiemsee Palace.
- From Herreninsel to Fraueninsel by ferry (10 minutes)
- From Fraueninsel to Chiemsee by ferry (15-20 minutes)
- Chiemsee to Prien am Chiemsee station by Chiemseebahn (10 minutes)
- From Prien am Chiemsee station to Munich by train.

If you didn't go in the palace...you made a mistake. This palace is one of the wonders of the world. Its looks plain outside but inside...you will never see something this spectacular in your life. The value of the interior of this castle must be in the billions of dollars. You could spend a day in the stair well alone. I've never seen such opulence in my life. Just one piece of furniture looks like it was made by the most skilled artisan thenworld has ever known. The gold, the pearl, the marble, the fine woods. This is the most elegant expensive interior of any building I've ever seen in my life.

I live in Osterfing (D-83139 Söchtenau) with a grand view to the bavarian alps from our little chapelle. That´s a phantastic place only 13 km from the Chiemsee in the north of the Simssee. The train from Munich to Prien or Salzburg goes throw my political community with the lost train station in Krottenmühl. When I stay on the Fraueninsel I like to eat fresh smoky Chiemsee fish from the fischer mans on the lakeside path at the northwest or east side of the Fraueninsel. Chiemsee is and will always stay close to our heart as this beautiful lake and the islands were part of our first travel vlog and many people loved the video and encouraged us to make more such videos 💗.
Really had a lovely and relaxing time at Fraueninsel and Herreninsel. We were not knowing that the smoky fish is famous in this area. Enjoyed having it as it was the first time to taste it. We were very shy to speak on camera about the food, else this was one dish I could recommend everyone to try after coming there.
