Orlando did receive treatment not long after the Dr. Phil interview and he's doing much better. Amanda has been diagnosed with Bipolar, something she can't control, only maintain. I feel like the narrator for this was a bit negative about their stories and only used their names for the sake of an easy video. As for Christy Carlson Romano, she's got a RUclips channel where she's addressed her reasons for leaving show business and her relationships with other former Disney stars. So many of these people have moved onto better things for themselves. This video should've been titled differently.

I really admire Mara for being honest about her struggles with her mother's death, trying to cope with that grief while still a child, her body image worries, and other issues. I'm proud of her for returning to her education, and becoming a successful writer in her own right.

Exactly! Child actors, just like all the rest of us, are still deciding what they want to do with their lives. Many of them decide acting is not it.
Yeah. Some kids got into acting to pay the bills, then left the business to pursue other things.
With everything we know now that Hollywood is not a safe and sane place to work, it’s probably better for them.

Amanda was on her way to become a comedy legend. She was that talented. Jim Carrey talented. I hope she's able to live a Normal life
She is FANTASTIC in She's The Man; absolutely hilarious.
I always loved her in every show she was in and was very sorry when things spiraled out of control. I hope she is able to live a happy life, doing what she loves.
@Dominic Wileman That was actually denied, but her parents did try. Instead a judge had her get mental health treatment that got her a diagnosis of Bipolar disorder, which she then got treatment for. She's doing well now after changing her career to fashion design.
@@auberginebear that's false. It was never denied. She was under a conservatorship. What supposedly happened, is in 2017 her mother filed a motion for Amanda to regain financial control of her life. Her mother still holds control over Amanda's medical treatment

How dare you skip over the most important parts of what happened to Amanda Bynes, all of which is public information. She was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder and after getting treatment, decided to not return to acting and get into fashion instead, which included going back to school for. You make it sound like she's still wild and "crazy", but she's not.
The narrator sounded a bit condescending, especially in the beginning when talking about Jonathan Taylor Thomas. She said something along the lines of, ' He left behind a promising career in entertainment for a college education in Accounting?' As if that was a bad decision. Maybe acting was appealing to him when he was a kid, but the realities were too much to handle (as is often the case with child actors). If anything, his decision to get into Accounting was a smart one. It's a far more stable choice than acting. And if he's a math nerd, good for him.
Also, the mental health issues that some of the people mentioned could have been highlighted with a little more grace and tactfulness.
A couple of these folks indeed had problems, but most of your examples didn't fall off the map. By becoming teachers, students, fireifghters and lawyers while still being able to look fondly back on their performing years, they have fallen _onto_ the map of healthy living.
Would it have made you feel better if they had said, “fallen out of the spotlight?” Since it seems “fallen off the map” seems to trouble you…I didn’t take “fallen off the map” as some kind of derogatory phrase or something. Just that were in front of millions, now they’re not. No big deal if you ask me.

Stacy Keanan has become a lawyer. She is doing well for herself. Co-star Angela Watson had her bank account looted by her parents-so she ended up with little. She now helps kids getting into the biz to make sure that their bank accounts don't get looted. Christine Lakin works steadily as an actress and that is important to her.

I think it's unfair to call Taylor a bad actor, I saw him on SNL a few years ago and he was really good. I think he has potential as a comedic actor.
Honestly not surprised that Taylor Lautner decided to get out. Poor guy was so heavily sexualized as a teenager (he was 16 when Twilight came out), that's gotta have affected him.

It's partially our fault. For idolizing these young kids and keeping up with the tabloids. Then it's media's fault for hounding them so much and their parents greediness. It's a vicious cycle that I wish I could've noticed as an early teen.
as children and young teens ourselves we didnt know any better. but as young adults we all understand that we shouldn't put too much pressure on child/teen actors. if grown adults can barely handle fame and publicity at times, imagine what it does to a developing mind...oh wait, I almost forgot. we don't even have to imagine. lord...

Jamie Walter's career suffered due to playing Donna's abusive boyfriend in 90210. There were a lot of crazy fans that ended up hating the actor for "hurting Donna." And that was pretty much that.
This right here. I completely agree. I loved his character on the show until they made him start abusing Donna. I really do think it hurt his chances of a great career.
I agree with this. Yes, because he was an abusive boyfriend on the show he lost popularity which stinks for the actor. It was the same for the actress that played Nellie in Little House on the Prairie. She is super nice in real life.

It bugs me that this video never once mentioned that Amanda Bynes actually did get better and that Orlando Brown did receive treatment and FINALLY after all of this time got better. They deserve to be on the list but at least give off clarity that they doing well.

The Olsens have their fashion empire now and they choose to stay behind the scenes so people concentrate on the clothes and not them. But they've also won a few major fashion awards so they didn't really disappear. Macaulay Culkin has his Bunny Ears website and now he mainly concentrates on his kid.
Thank you for mentioning Edward Furlong. He was my ultimate 😍 🥰. After watching his spiral over the years then reading about his relationship with his much older teacher along with his dysfunctional family made me feel so sorry for him. I hope he can turn it around someday.
Thank goodness mental health breakdowns are becoming less a public mockery and instead addressed with concern. My heart breaks seeing how the media and "fans" treated them. People do stupid stuff and act like this daily, but to have it blasted on news outlets and treated cruelly by everyone because of it? It's a blessing they are with us today.

I don’t blame Jonathan Taylor Thomas for going in a different direction. I remember him being a MASSIVE star in the early 90’s. He did his time and moved on.
Orlando brown was in the rehab program run by rise church here in abilene, tx for 6 months, I guest speak to groups twice a year going through the program about what my first 5 years in recovery have been like, and what real expectations to have outside of the controlled environmentof a program. I hope he finds the success and happiness in being in recovery like I did.
It's funny how we think actors should keep doing the same job for decades. Most people change careers/jobs so they deserve to also. ❤

I think it's a brave thing to step away from having "everything" to focus on their personal wants and needs (not what others determine is best for them). I mean, imagine being born and raised to do something, everyone loves you because of that thing, but really want to do something else? I had internal termoil with my career switch, I can't imagine what they must have felt!
And I hope to all those that are still searching for their paths, I hope they calm those demons and find their joy in life again.

Was a 90210 fan growing up and I hated how Jamie Walters was portrayed as the villian in the series. To this day I think it is why his career did not take off afterwards. At least he's doing something more meaningful to people as a first responder

In 2017, Staci Keanan appeared with Patrick Duffy on Christine Lakin's show, Hollywood Darlings, where the three addressed (and made fun of) the rumor that the reason there has never been a Step by Step reunion was because Kenan and Duffy hated each other.
When we all know it's because Susanne Summers never wanted to return.
But why ?
Watched that episode it was a fictional reunion story within the reality show and the reason for the fictional hate between Duffy and Keenan was due to Lankin spreading a rumor that had to do with Luke Perry. The episode was called The Luke Perry Incident and was a cute episode. RIP Luke Perry

I realize some of these kids got into trouble or whatever, but the tone of this video seems to be shaming these kids for not pursuing their careers in show business.

I'm under the impression that most of them were star children who stopped acting when they got 18. When started to do what they wanted to do instead of doing what their parents wanted. Or had health problems, like Amanda Bynes. They didn't fall off the map. They just got off the map.
The title should be this:

This story misses the reality of what these promising stars wanted. Perhaps they don't want to be in front of the camera. Please do more research to find out whether it was their own choice and your guess.

These people chose a different path. The spotlight of fame can cause more damage than good, especially on young actors as evidenced by a few of the people mentioned here.

I don't know much about any of these people. But my little sisters used to watch Amanda Bynes' shows on Nickelodeon and I always thought that if any of these kids my little sisters were watching were going to go on to be big stars well into adulthood, it was Bynes. She really had something.

Most of the Twilight stars have fallen off the map. I wonder if it’s due to the level of hate those movies received. Sure they had a massive following of teenage girls but it was also universally hated by anyone else. A lot of people looked down on the actors.

I think fame is just too much for some kids and its very overwhelming in an industry where they're children but expected to act like adults being exposed to adult situations too soon...this is why so many of them have drug problems, mental health issues and breakdowns....don't blame them for leaving an industry that discards them when its not able to benefit from that actor anymore; glad most of these actors/actresses have found more fulfilling careers and happiness; for those who haven't hopefully help is there for them!
Frankie never touched drugs, doesn’t drink or party and was well guided to invest in real estate at a young age. 🤙

It's truly hard to keep up a career from child to adult. I really admire those who went to school and found other careers. Sadly child stars don't always grow up in to be good looking compelling adults but they were adorable kids. It's hollywood they judge looks. It really takes an luck and strategy to move a career along.
