Ontario, here! You made it overseas! :-). I understand only a small amount of your struggle with water. However, I've been a homebrewer for a few years and my well water sucks! I'm fortunate to have access to cheap RO and have worked with water chem since day 1. Keep up with documenting your process. There are a multitude of folks with the same struggles! Cheers! -Andrew.
Thanks Andrew..... I had a huge problem with water until I built my water and alcohol filter (ruclips.net/video/SNtJI_i8pKE/видео.html) I have a standby Spring Water source with Tasmanian spring water available at Woolworth's for $6.50 for 10 Ltrs.
Store bought Water is unpredictable..... I was using Spring Water from Coles for a few years before I realized they changed their suppliers and the new one provided a product completely incompatible with Distilling. You need to be on the ball with Store bought water, or develop a filtration system that removes the problem.
Thanks Garry, so I have ordered this new SS in line carbon filter and intend doing the next vid using it and the results from this vid. Stay tuned Garry........
Hey Jacob, yes you could distill the water but running the still at 100C is a veeeery slow process for 40 ltrs. The economics of using electricity and the time required make it unsuitable. Distilling 2 ltrs of Ethanol takes around 2 hours+
Thanks Jeroen, and welcome to the channel. On May 26 2020 I was getting 3803 views per day, and now get only 240 views per day. I really do not understand why, but something to do with the computerized algorithm RUclips uses to advance channels. Don't get me wrong, I am still blown out of the water with my present 5,700 Subscribers. I originally started this Channel to help my Brother who lives 5 hours drive away to learn more. Glad you enjoy what I do.... Cheers Paul
Fantastic video Champion! If you ever decide to start a patreon I would happily chuck in what I can each month to help you buy some bits and pieces to make more content with. I love ya content!!
Thanks for your support M8harry. As it now is, I post a video when I have something that might be of interest to my Subscribers. This might be 2 a week or one every 2 months. Other RUclipsrs with Patreon supporters tend to upload every week and if I attempted to upload weekly I feel I would be uploading a lot of mediocre stuff. I have just Retired (well, dropped down to 2 x 5 hour shifts a week). This should free up more time for me. Regards Paul
@@pauljacobs5390 Hi Paul, Have you considered doing what a lot of youtubers and pod casters are doing with Patreon and just having a $1 per month option. It lets people chuck in a small thank you for no real obligation your end. An American podcast I supported used their funds to buy new hardware and cover costs for going to events and that was great because their quality picked up and there was no real sense of obligation to crank out more content or do outlandish things. Maybe you could consider that option as a way to help cover your costs or buy new gear for future videos. Just a thought. Cant wait for your next video.
Way to complicated. Use this. Works great. Birdwatchers sugar wash. My recipe for an 80 liter wash. Ingredients as follows 3 cups tomato paste Juice 3 lemons Approx. 18 kg sugar 225 grams fresh regular bakers yeast. Buy in bulk at any good health food store. water.

@@pauljacobs5390 Don't worry Sir I'm sitting on the letterbox kicking my feet waiting. Happy distilling mate.
You rock sir!
Glad you enjoyed the Vid...
Thanks, learned a lot (somewhat to my surprise) ...
Hey Rhian, I am just sharing what I learn.....Glad you enjoyed the vid......
Have you made a sugar wash with dextrose instead of sugar?
Is there much of a difference in the end product?
Cheers,
interesting video as always. Im glad I usually never have much in the way of problems with my water during brewing thats for sure.
Thanks HerrWayne45, send some of your water down my way..... (might need a verrrry long garden hose)
I'm not sure how feasible it is on a t500, but you could distill your tap water for use in your sugar wash.
