  • In 1972-73, Arsenal were eyeing up the possibility of another Double, just as they had done two years before. But a shock defeat to Sunderland in their FA Cup semi-final a week prior to this game meant that all of their attention was now on the league. As it turned out, they were eventually pipped to the title by Bill Shankly's Liverpool. Brian Moore is the commentator.

2.40 Big Pat one handed catch no gloves either, how's that for confidence in a local derby.

He used to catch them and as he landed, throw the ball to the winner in one movement. The greatest.

Martin Peters was ahead of his time and probably the best player England ever had.

You couldn't imagine today's players looking like Gilzean or Coates.

Those were the days when keepers could catch the ball, refs let players tackle and the atmosphere was special. I was there as a young lad and fast forward to 2001 I worked at Watford the first day the gaffer GT takes me on a tour of the training ground I walk into the dressing room and sitting there is Big Pat, we shook hands and exchanged pleasantries I passed my first test.
