I started watching both your channels a few weeks ago and I admire Tom for him sticking by you and supporting and caring for you as well as he does. I also added you to my daily prayers.
When I had my breast reduction I started developing keloid scaring in some areas, when it’s safe, it has to pretty much be healed, you can start gently massaging the scar every day, a few times a day for a couple minutes to break up the scar tissue. I also used silicone scar strips/tape which are reusable, you just wash them and use them until they lose their stickiness. And if all else fails, this did happen to me in a couple places, specifically where my drains were, I couldn’t get rid of the keloid scars and now I’m getting steroid injections in them to break up and soften up the scar tissue and so far that’s helping.
Phil Sandercock sorry to hear about all your conditions still I admire her positivity in the face of eds and all it’s related conditions and as someone with chronic illnesses myself I’m aware we all do it to survive but it’s the positivity which is what I’m calling strong as you yourself would know how hard it is to stay positive 🙂

Tom is hilarious! You are so blessed to have each other. Fighting multiple autoimmune diseases and cancer is so difficult without a partner. Btw, that planner is brilliant, always a great idea to use tools like that to keep organized. Amy, you are such an inspiration to so many people. Keep up the good work with your vlogs but please take care of yourself first. Your health is more important and even though I really enjoy it when another vid comes out, I would rather that you are well and not pushing yourself too hard. Blessings Be 💕

Hi Amy to get rid of keloid scars all u need is 1tablespoon of olive oil and 1tablespoon of bakingsoda and mix them together and rub/massage on the affected area for 10-15 mins everyday and then wipe off once finished, this definitely works because I had to do that after getting my appendix out xx luv u ❤❤🤘

Not only do I have a certified medical service dog, I train service dogs too. If u r interested, I would do everything I can to help and eliminate wait times. I have gastroperesis too, as well as epilepsy and diabetes. And right now, I'm struggling so badly with deep depression. Do u ever struggle with that and if so do u have any suggestions.

(Grew up in foster care until I aged out) and I just hurt so so much. Thanks so much for messaging me. I'm having a super hard time right now and sometimes my thoughts scare even me. I also wish I had a friend. Someone to talk to. My best friend was caught in my house stealing all my medication. She didn't care that I could have had a major issue of which no medication could kill me. My dogs never liked her at all. My shepherd never stopped coming between her and I. I feel she was stealing along time to support her drug habit. Jewelry is gone that can't be replaced. And I have no friend anymore. Funny thing is that we had a house fire, and my ex didn't pay the homeowners insurance. So we didn't have much right now. And then to steal what little I had. My jewelry was on me when the fire started. So that's a huge reason I am so down right now. I look up to Amy so so much. She is always so so motivational. Again thanks for the comment. @@guardiansanimalrescuestate7289 I think that everyone with chronic illnesses struggle a lot with depression, and to add everything that has happened to you it's no wonder your depressed! I always tell people who are close to me that struggle too, that we've got to fake it until we make it. Whatever the 'it' may be, I find it's easier to just tell people that I'm okay when really I'm very far from it. I don't like people thinking that I'm looking for sympathy because I have a disease with no cure, and all of these symptoms that you have to take medication for, and some other medications you have to take for the symptoms of the medication you've already taken. I've been following Amy for about 2 years or so, and I always look forward to seeing her video's because she is so charismatic and I relate to her issues a lot even though we don't share the same diagnosis. She's real, and presents real issues that everyone with a chronic illness can relate to. Like if it's going to the hospital, being sick or nauseous, test results, dealing with medical issues and the reality that you never really know how strong you are, because being strong is the only option you really have.
My mom had a keloid scar from her knee surgery & she used to put crushed aspirin mixed with water to make a paste & put it on the scar then put her bandage over it. It definitely helped a lot with the size & darkness of it. She now uses the Bio Oil & Palmers Cocoa Butter for stretch marks & they are working pretty good for her.
I feel we can relate right now. For reasons that are very detailed and I won’t go into I tried to take my own life and ever so gracefully fell backwards off a 10m building/car park and broke my pelvis in multiple places, ribs, vertebrae, pneumothorax and a decent head wound... so I’ve been stuck in hospital with a really sore pelvis to say the least ... doing clexane injections, managing pain and trying not to use heavy pain killers. Learning to walk again and dealing with everything that goes with trying to take your own life and surviving 🤦🏻♂️
I hope your recovery goes well and you find whatever it is you need in this world to find holding on worth it. I couldn't help but reply and think I don't know this person, but I am sorry you felt the need to try and take your own life. I truly hope you find your way in life and find peace. I have been there before.
Tom's voice over was perfect lol. It usually is said "mortar and pestle" not "pestle and mortar"... but also it's typically pronounced mor-ter and pess-el, the t in pestle is kind of silent. At least that's the only way I've ever heard them said before lol.
My daughter has classic EDS and we use soft brown tape over scars we keep it on her wounds for 3 to 6 months and it has been so good for flat healing. We love your channels xox
Here in the us, we have a cream called Scare Away. I used it for my knee replacement scare. It works pretty good for helping your scare not get raised and bumpy. I would recommend it for your scare. It’s basically the size of mine.
I've had a keloid scar after surgery too and was told to gently massage it a couple times a day, and use tea tree oil or vitamin e oil once it was completely fused.
For the keloid scarring you can try 2-3 drops Tea Tree Oil along with 4 aspirin tabs in 1/2 tsp water and mix till you have a paste. Keep on the scar for 30 minutes- until it dries. Wash the paste away with water then after, follow up with 2-3 drops of the Tea Tree Oil onto the keloid scar. It has been helpful for me with my previous surgeries and scars. Course, I live in the U.S. but I would assume you would have this available in your shops- but could be mistaken. I'd be happy to send some if that is the case! Good luck!
I used those, when I had my knee surgery, and it didn't hurt. There's this pain after the injection but it's bearable. I think the secret is to inject it as fast as you can and pinch as much of your skin you can. It worked for me even though it was my mom doing that to me 😂
For the keloid, try just massaging it. It doesn't matter what type of oil or lubrication that you use, just the massage itself makes a difference. You can even do it through the dressing. It will help the scar to heal and lay flat. If it get really bad, contact your surgeon or primary to see if you can get a cortisone injection into the skin to help it. (It is really simply, but corticosteroids are known to create problems with tendons so they may say no even though you are just getting it into the skin.
I know this is months later but if you have keloids in the future try saline/salt water. They make after care solution (mostly for piercing) in an aerosol you can spray on a wound. I tend to get pretty bad scars from surgeries and piercings and this last time I used the saline spray (same ph as your body) and I’ve had no issues after the initial healing.
Tom bit was sooo awesome, he needs to get in touch with the BBC, he definitely could replace Attenborough, he’s so so good - and then he’d become a national treasure too! I’m not allowed to eat broccoli as it thickens your blood and I have a blood clotting disorder. All my scars (except the ones on my hands) have turned into keloid scars. My big one across my abdomen (from 2013) is raised up into a lump and is more than a finger width apart and two fingers wide at the bottom already (the bottom bit took more than four years to close up - a cEDS problem!) It’s mostly still red but some bits are turning skin coloured especially the bottom wider bit. My latest abdominal surgery was last year and that is a thick raised red scar, it didn’t have any stitches, just glue and looked great for a about a week before it started swelling into a red lump. A really old one on my knee from when I was a child is a finger width apart but isn’t raised anymore and it’s gone more of a white colour. When it’s healed enough buy vitamin e jelly capsules, pop it with a pin and rub it into your scar, it really helps with the healing.
OMG those dreaded injections!!! So far I've only ever had one & with it being the first time the pain caught me totally by surprise & the bruising after was spectacular, covered most of my stomach.. Since then I have managed to avoid them like the plague & a few times just like you have point blank refused them (in Spain it's the normal protocol in the hospital to give them).. You're amazing, brave & doing so well, such an inspiration. x x
Fiona Browne refusing definitely perturbed some staff members. I refused an arterial Stan at my wrist- a needle in the artery to get blood oxygen levels. I was a nurse so I know how sore it is. They tried to persuade me. I told them if I passed out they could do it then...
I know, they hurt! Thank you! Everyone I know said that they don't hurt at all, but damn it was so horrible when I had to use those.. even when the doctor showed me how to use it, she got me a huge bruise around the injection spot!
When I had surgery on my finger, my physical therapist would perform a scar massage every time. They would spend 20 solid minutes constantly rubbing it VERY firmly in circular and criss-crossing motions, stretching, and overall just digging at it to break up the collagen building up. They just applied lotion and went to town, hurt like heck but was totally worth it for so many reasons
Lovenox, right? Yeah, I've done them many times. The worst is when your belly is bruised all over and you still have to inject them, so you have to inject them into an existing bruise. And the bruises are so painful too!
I once had a keloid scar, went to the dermatologist and he ended up injecting the area with something (i cant remember the name) for it. I didnt feel any type of discomfort or pain from the injection and it worked, the scar was reduced significantly. I still have some keloid left but that was because it was a six month old bump so I cant complain and my health care covered the injection. Hope this helps
I hated getting blood thinners when I was in the hospital. However, I had kidney stones/kidney infection so I wasn't mobile really save for going to the restroom. I only had them once a day though thankfully.
Hey Amy are the shots to prevent blood clots? When I had surgery (broke my femur) I had to inject in my stomach everyday for a month and it was the worst. The doctor didn't want any risk of blood clots.
Amy don't know if you can use them but I had a huge scar after my surgery and Dr. prescribed me corticostheroid creams and it thiner them a litlle bit. Hope you can use it. If it continues to grow then we are going to try an infusion. Cheers
I so feel the pain I have Afib,SVTs,PBC..I have had 7 heart ablations but now permanent pacing with pacemaker cause I kept having areas popping up..I also have gastroparesis not tube feeding yet...But I feel the pain there are good days but not a lot idk prayers your way !!
Hmm.. i read that silikon dressings could help, but you find really good ideas on the internet when you google it. When it is fully closed and heald tey out oils like apricot or avocado oil
From my understanding of keloid scars (at least of the one I have), they’re caused by the muscle/skin tissue being misaligned during the healing process, and they aren’t really preventable or reversible.

The scarring.... Use a tiny bit of Biooil or coconut oil once you can and massage it in for about 30 minutes...The massage actually helps break up the scarring, the oil just keeps the skin from getting super irritated.... It's mortar and pestle if they're wood or stone and mortice and pestle if it's metal.
i have that kind of scar on my knee and what helped it stay relatively small compared to the actually injury i used miderma cream which is supposed to help scarring lessen
Try vitamin E oil, Coconut oil, coconut butter and yes all this after your staples or stitches come out. Vitamin E oil really helped with my surgery scars. My love, hugs and prayers to you sweetie🥰🙏🤗💕‼️
I feel your pain with the shots. I had blood clots in my lungs and I had to be on a high dose of shots. And now with my port I have to take one every day. My legs and stomach always get bruised.
Heparin (blood thinner shots) are the freaking worst!! My last hospital stay i was at a different hospital and for their protocol they did it every 8 hours !!! It was awful. My tummy looked like a cheetah!
The hospital here always tried to give my wife Lovenox (US brand) those shots even though she has ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia). She always refuses them too. We didn't even know they were painful, but now I know I'm never getting her to use them.
This was a cool and funny. I was laughing my butt off while Tom was trying to be the crocodile hunter while videoing you setting up your syringes. Treatment of keloid scarring is steroids, topical anti-tumor medication or silicone gel sheets. You can also use vitamin E oil or emu oil for the scar
Amy, Keloids are common with EDS, I get keloids, I have never been diagnosed with EDS but I have quite a few of the symptoms including the Keloids. There was this creme I used back in the day called mederma it didn't get rid of it but it did lighten it and became a bit smoother. I don't know if you guys would have that there. I got mine in the States. Hope you can get some there. If not let me know and I can see if I can send you some.
I feel your pain when I was pregnant I was on a super high dose as very high risk so was on 120mg! Twice a day ended up so bruised and had lumps from where the fluid just pooled in a pocket and wasnt absorbed properly was a nightmare

Can you use Vitamin E oil? I’m lucky I scar really well. You can barely see any of my many scars. Being a very pale redhead might have something to do with it, but I always use Vitamin E oil twice a day for at least six months to a year while I’m healing. Can’t even see serious surgery scars.

Mortar and pestle is the correct bit I worked in pharmacy in California for 25 years before my hypermobility got so painful I couldn’t continue. The vitamin shots and muscle relaxer shots hurt bad enough. The nurse has to deep tissue massage s already burning injection site do the relaxer won't cause Charlie horses. I came so close to punching the nurse lol.
Butterfly Band-Aids hello take the stress if the skin which causes the keloids. I have a keloid on my chest (port) and a 4.5" (11.4cm) one on my stomach from my Intrathecal pump. They both healed and looked like they were going to be invisible and then the split into keloids
They injected steroids into all of my keloid scars (I have 4 from a shoulder surgery) and that made them lay flat and get lighter in color. (bonus it doesn't really hurt) Now people barely notice them. For a few years my baby sister was convinced I'd glue huge chunks of ham to my shoulder every morning.
Might talk to your Dr. about some sort of topical silicone gel treatment or sheeting. It may help improve the thickness and color of the scar. Just a suggestion. I’m not a dr.

There are some special silicone dressings and gels for keyloid scars. My son gets them with deep wounds.

I had keloids 3-4 times within the first year of having my nose pierced, and the only thing that would make them go away was tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is AMAZING for everything! Kept me from having to get my toe amputated when antibiotics wouldn't work.

arnica gel! my mom used it after her cancer removal and i use it its amazing it even makes bruises heal faster

My big one across my abdomen (from 2013) is raised up into a lump and is more than a finger width apart and two fingers wide at the bottom already (the bottom bit took more than four years to close up - a cEDS problem!) It’s mostly still red but some bits are turning skin coloured especially the bottom wider bit.
My latest abdominal surgery was last year and that is a thick raised red scar, it didn’t have any stitches, just glue and looked great for a about a week before it started swelling into a red lump.
A really old one on my knee from when I was a child is a finger width apart but isn’t raised anymore and it’s gone more of a white colour. When it’s healed enough buy vitamin e jelly capsules, pop it with a pin and rub it into your scar, it really helps with the healing.

OMG those dreaded injections!!! So far I've only ever had one & with it being the first time the pain caught me totally by surprise & the bruising after was spectacular, covered most of my stomach.. Since then I have managed to avoid them like the plague & a few times just like you have point blank refused them (in Spain it's the normal protocol in the hospital to give them).. You're amazing, brave & doing so well, such an inspiration. x x
Fiona Browne refusing definitely perturbed some staff members. I refused an arterial Stan at my wrist- a needle in the artery to get blood oxygen levels. I was a nurse so I know how sore it is. They tried to persuade me. I told them if I passed out they could do it then...

I know, they hurt! Thank you! Everyone I know said that they don't hurt at all, but damn it was so horrible when I had to use those.. even when the doctor showed me how to use it, she got me a huge bruise around the injection spot!

When I had surgery on my finger, my physical therapist would perform a scar massage every time. They would spend 20 solid minutes constantly rubbing it VERY firmly in circular and criss-crossing motions, stretching, and overall just digging at it to break up the collagen building up. They just applied lotion and went to town, hurt like heck but was totally worth it for so many reasons

Lovenox, right? Yeah, I've done them many times. The worst is when your belly is bruised all over and you still have to inject them, so you have to inject them into an existing bruise. And the bruises are so painful too!
I once had a keloid scar, went to the dermatologist and he ended up injecting the area with something (i cant remember the name) for it. I didnt feel any type of discomfort or pain from the injection and it worked, the scar was reduced significantly. I still have some keloid left but that was because it was a six month old bump so I cant complain and my health care covered the injection. Hope this helps

There isnt much you can do about a keloid forming, just dont scratch it, that will make it worse.. But rubbing aloe on it daily can help slow it down.

I hated getting blood thinners when I was in the hospital. However, I had kidney stones/kidney infection so I wasn't mobile really save for going to the restroom. I only had them once a day though thankfully.

Hey Amy are the shots to prevent blood clots? When I had surgery (broke my femur) I had to inject in my stomach everyday for a month and it was the worst. The doctor didn't want any risk of blood clots.

Amy don't know if you can use them but I had a huge scar after my surgery and Dr. prescribed me corticostheroid creams and it thiner them a litlle bit. Hope you can use it. If it continues to grow then we are going to try an infusion. Cheers
I so feel the pain I have Afib,SVTs,PBC..I have had 7 heart ablations but now permanent pacing with pacemaker cause I kept having areas popping up..I also have gastroparesis not tube feeding yet...But I feel the pain there are good days but not a lot idk prayers your way !!

Hmm.. i read that silikon dressings could help, but you find really good ideas on the internet when you google it. When it is fully closed and heald tey out oils like apricot or avocado oil
From my understanding of keloid scars (at least of the one I have), they’re caused by the muscle/skin tissue being misaligned during the healing process, and they aren’t really preventable or reversible.

Just partially dislocated my knee for the first time ever on Friday. Bright side is now I'm expedited to an ortho!
The scarring.... Use a tiny bit of Biooil or coconut oil once you can and massage it in for about 30 minutes...The massage actually helps break up the scarring, the oil just keeps the skin from getting super irritated.... It's mortar and pestle if they're wood or stone and mortice and pestle if it's metal.
i have that kind of scar on my knee and what helped it stay relatively small compared to the actually injury i used miderma cream which is supposed to help scarring lessen

Tea tree oil helps to get rid of keloid scarring, but you might want to wait a while before using it.
Try vitamin E oil, Coconut oil, coconut butter and yes all this after your staples or stitches come out. Vitamin E oil really helped with my surgery scars. My love, hugs and prayers to you sweetie🥰🙏🤗💕‼️
I feel your pain with the shots. I had blood clots in my lungs and I had to be on a high dose of shots. And now with my port I have to take one every day. My legs and stomach always get bruised.
Heparin (blood thinner shots) are the freaking worst!! My last hospital stay i was at a different hospital and for their protocol they did it every 8 hours !!! It was awful. My tummy looked like a cheetah!

The hospital here always tried to give my wife Lovenox (US brand) those shots even though she has ITP (Immune Thrombocytopenia). She always refuses them too. We didn't even know they were painful, but now I know I'm never getting her to use them.
This was a cool and funny. I was laughing my butt off while Tom was trying to be the crocodile hunter while videoing you setting up your syringes. Treatment of keloid scarring is steroids, topical anti-tumor medication or silicone gel sheets. You can also use vitamin E oil or emu oil for the scar

Amy, Keloids are common with EDS, I get keloids, I have never been diagnosed with EDS but I have quite a few of the symptoms including the Keloids. There was this creme I used back in the day called mederma it didn't get rid of it but it did lighten it and became a bit smoother. I don't know if you guys would have that there. I got mine in the States. Hope you can get some there. If not let me know and I can see if I can send you some.
Can vouch that those injection you have to take are super painful, i had them after my surgery and it was the worst part of the day 😣

I feel your pain when I was pregnant I was on a super high dose as very high risk so was on 120mg! Twice a day ended up so bruised and had lumps from where the fluid just pooled in a pocket and wasnt absorbed properly was a nightmare

wheatgerm oil can help with keyloid scaring as can sudacrem (baby nappy cream) high zinc contact xxx
Witch Hazel helped my keloids go away and it also helped my tattoo heal faster. It is really good stuff atleast to me 😊
Can you use Vitamin E oil? I’m lucky I scar really well. You can barely see any of my many scars. Being a very pale redhead might have something to do with it, but I always use Vitamin E oil twice a day for at least six months to a year while I’m healing. Can’t even see serious surgery scars.

Mortar and pestle is the correct bit I worked in pharmacy in California for 25 years before my hypermobility got so painful I couldn’t continue. @@witchCRAFTer than you! So it's a blood thinner. No fun, I've got family on the oral tabs and they have issues with it I can't imagine the shots. The vitamin shots and muscle relaxer shots hurt bad enough. The nurse has to deep tissue massage s already burning injection site do the relaxer won't cause Charlie horses. I came so close to punching the nurse lol.
Silicone sheets are great for keloid scars, but just wait until the stitches heal.
Butterfly Band-Aids hello take the stress if the skin which causes the keloids.
I have a keloid on my chest (port) and a 4.5" (11.4cm) one on my stomach from my Intrathecal pump. They both healed and looked like they were going to be invisible and then the split into keloids
Best keloid scar treatment by far is diluted Tea Tree Oil, it got rid of mine within a few days :) x
They injected steroids into all of my keloid scars (I have 4 from a shoulder surgery) and that made them lay flat and get lighter in color. (bonus it doesn't really hurt) Now people barely notice them. For a few years my baby sister was convinced I'd glue huge chunks of ham to my shoulder every morning.
Might talk to your Dr. about some sort of topical silicone gel treatment or sheeting. It may help improve the thickness and color of the scar. Just a suggestion. I’m not a dr.
