After watching a few videos of seal pups, I have come to the scientific conclusion that they sound like people with nasal congestion from a cold. Further research is in order to reinforce this statement.
Hello I'm 2 years late BUT I wanted you to know that seals and humans actually vocalize using the same mechanisms, so scientists have trained seals to sing rudimentary versions of people songs and maybe garble a few words? I can't quite remember that last one, but I do remember seeing some seals borking out beautiful melodies

Yeah they steal our fish but as far as the seals are concerned, it's us who steal their fish. We'd have done the same too if our roles are reversed. Overfishing have lead to less fish for the seals to hunt for. They could have hunted somewhere far away from our fishing range (which we should have shared with them but we hogged everything for ourselves, until almost nothing left for them) or they can dive deeper than the reach of our fishing nets but doing any of those would expose them to predators like sharks and orcas. So in the end they had no choice for survival but to steal 'our' fish.
I can't get over how baby Weddell seals sound like screaming old men, yet adult Weddell seals sound like synthesizers.
