  • This video will show you how to perform a proper computer and mechanical diagnostics if you think you have a issue with your MAP/IAT (manifold absolute pressure sensor/Intake manifold temperature sensor) using both a computer and mechanical gauge to measure proper vacuum. many things can cause a MAP sensor to read wrong tripping a check engine light. including major internal engine issues like stuck valves, burnt valves, improper timing. this one turned out to be a sensor issue instead of a mechanical issue.

Excellent explanation including justified skepticism regarding certain OBD II readings. My 2005 Hyundai Accent was throwing P2096 code related to malfunctioning MAP sensor.

Thank you Matt. Same issue with my son's 2001 Hyundai Accent. This is the one and only helpful video I could find about the P0112 code, diagnostics and resolve.

Very helpful video, thank you. My 01 Accent sedan did about the same thing. I got the initial code which then switched to a code 112. My OBD2 reader is also saying it's resting around 8-9inHg as well. Curiously though after switching the battery today the CEL went away. For a while the scanner tool would display the code as pending, but now there is no code that even comes up. The live diagnostics tab still shows the inHg readings as the same however so something is definitely funky.

Hi Matt, I'm hoping you might be able to help me out. I have an '03 Hyundai Elantra that is coming up with a P0113 code for the IAP sensor. In the video, you mention that for the Accura, the MAP sensor and IAP sensor are built in together. Is that the same with the Elantra? I have already bought and replaced my MAP sensor. I don't remember where it is located on my car, but I have the receipt for it! Haha
    Thanks!
