Great video, I did this when it had light snow about three weeks ago in reverse. From 88 to 95 in my stock LR4 with winter tyres. I wouldn’t have tried it in that depth of snow without the winch.

Great Video David! Looks like a blast. Some of those switch backs looks a bit dicey.

Thanks! Switchbacks are not too bad. They definitely slowed us down some. The biggest problem is that it being a really new trail, there isn't much to keep you "on trail". That's what happened to get us into the winching situation featured in the video. Backing up was only dragging the Cruiser further off trail. Don't worry about it and hit it with the winch (twice) and we were back making forward progress. They can be a lot worse when the ice on the switchbacks have no snow on them.

Are you guys carrying tire chains as a backup plan? Which rig is yours? I remember that landcruiser from the Gray Creek pass last September when the Baker creek bridge was out.

Some of us have 'em. Didn't take mine this trip (though I shouldve). The FJ is mine (David Wakely), and I have to say I'm still pretty jealous that we didn't attempt the powerline route you guys took. Thanks for checking out the new vids! Hope to see you out your way again.

I leave my chains in the rig all winter as my last ditch exit plan. Yes it was a jungle trek for sure! My son had to hook up the winch in one particularly gnarly spot while I stayed in the truck to keep it in place on the slope. I'm sure we will cross paths again, keep the vids coming.
