Thanks for all your questions and suggestions! I plan on making more videos going into specifics about tailoring your portfolio to certain studios and giving in depth examples of each of these portfolio materials.
I really appreciate the portfolio videos! I graduated in 2022 and still haven't found my footing in the industry, despite a lot of hard work fine-tuning my portfolio. Hopefully it really is the industry and not just me!
The wow factor it’s always so important. And to be clear what is the role you want to be part of inside the studio , within your portfolio , thanks so much for sharing your experience and knowledge
I half disagree with the Animatics, since most jobs I applied for had a need for editing and in my last job I had to make animatics with my boards with timing and all. I do show both tho, clickable and animatics.
I agree, but I heard the "no animatic" suggestion a lot, and I think a good middle ground is to put the boards before the animatic, so the recruiter can completely skip it if not interested.
I want to start applying more to studios overseas (I'm in London), but the competition in America is so rough, I would love a video where you talk a bit more about how studios see workers from other countries and what are they looking for. I know its a probably a very difficult topic for you, but I would like to see your point of view :D
Just discovered your channel - you're very informative and well-spoken, I enjoy listening to your voice! One thing I would personally like would be some visual examples to what you say, because as a bit of a noob, sometimes I'm like "oh what does she mean precisely?" Thanks for your effort in creating this video!
Recently discovered your channel and loving it. You give concise, practical information. Thank you. I’m trying to get into storyboarding after illustrating and painting for years. Really appreciate the tip about animatics. 💕
started following yesterday and it helps a lot. my major is product design but i really love animation and character design so, i study on my own. keep going.
Oof I have been told that in Europe recruiters are looking for animatics more than speakerdeck type of boards😭 I guess it always depends on the particular industry
Hey, good content here. I just pivoted from 2d animation to boards, your channel helps a lot. When you say don’t include in the portfolio, does that means having a specific page for storyboard in my website or having an exclusive website for storyboard work?
If you run a web comic with a decent following, could you link to it in your portfolio in the same vein as job experience? (Or just as an example that you're a diligent worker and people want to see your stories)

welcome to the club, i graduated in 2019 and i’m still trying to break in.
As a very visual person myself, I would love even more examples of what you’re talking about. Great information though! ❤
Definitely. I’ll make some more in depth videos on each of these!

If the job you’re applying for also requires editing then you’re right, it totally makes sense to include animatics.

Having a specific page on your website dedicated to storyboards!
@@meridiangrayculpepper Thanks. I'll also follow your advice and convert all animatics on my website to Speakerdeck image sequences.
nice this is pretty useful

I would! I’d make another tab on my website titled “comics” and put some samples of your best work there
@@meridiangrayculpepper oh ok, great!
