If you're dining in I like the authentic old school 1930's vibe of Lafayette. American expanded and feels a little commercialized. I'll eat either one and not complain. As for preference - I've lived in Detroit for 57 years. I like Duley's on Vernor Ave in mine (and Jack White's) old SW Detroit neighborhood.
Lafayette used to use Winter's Sausage dogs, but now both Lafayette and American use Dearborn dogs. And they both get their buns from the Metropolitan Baking Company. The chili is different. The onions are different. But the dog and bun? Same.
I have lived around the planet and every time I meet someone from Detroit, I ask them American or Lafayette? It's about even. I think it depends which one was the first you tasted.
Alec.. buddy.. youre talking exactly backward. American has the superior snap, and is way too sweet. Lafayette has the better flavors, and superior onions. Really, the only thing is put the snap into the Lafayette dog and you got an unbeatable coney. Game recognize game, and you lookin pretty unfamiliar.
Boo this man. Nathan's dogs are like chewing on foam rubber weatherstipping from old lead painted windows. Which you must have done to think Nathan's are better than a Dearborn or the G.O.A.T: Koegels Viennas.
I honestly question people's taste buds when they say Layfette is better. Layfette tastes like ass. Where the chili from American actually has flavor in it.
@@earthsucks9555 here in Flint Michigan its Starlite Coney Island restaurant on Davison and Center Rd. I order mine , dry chili, light onion, mustard... also at Burger street on Hill rd and Fenton rd..they also have good fish and chips.
My wife and I like Lafayette Coney Island more.
I have one Coney Island at Lafayette then I go nextdoor to American for the second. Done it that way since I was a teenager. I'm 71 now. 2023.
Haha yes!! That's the only way to do it!
I finally got to try both of them recently. I tried one immediately after the other and preferred Lafayette.

We've been saving the Duley's review for a big time episode, working on some special guests.

You are a crazy person if you think American is better than Lafayette
Lafayette all day I grew up in those
Same vendor for the hot dog but each made to a different recipe. Incorrect to say they use the “same” hot dog
I love the Winters dogs!
@@matthewparker8848 Then call me crazy. Because American smokes Layfette all year every year.
So Alec, go to Lafayette, and get a coney with no mustard, then go next door, and get some mustard. Sounds like a perfect coney for you.
Haha, that is very true to make that perfect dog for him!
Good Lads. On my bucket list for sure. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the support
Been to both many times I like Lafayette better but both are good Lafayette has better fries.
We've always thought about doing fries review at some of these places
Mr Bengals looking dapper. If Burrow can ever use his leg again we will win lol. Good video
Who Dey!
Does Detroit Coneys taste anything like Skyline? I always wanted to try the Detroit dogs.
I love some Skyline and I would say they are completely different in taste.
I tried Skyline from the can, but it tasted a bit cinnamon-y. No cinnamon in Detroit coney chili

You might be right on that one, never seems like one is a majority favorite.
American for sure
Them dogs get there own and I think the meat company is not Dearborn Meat. I don't think. The last I knew.
Hard to eat those standing up.
Coney experts 👍🏻 Wish you could try my homemade coney

Lafayette has better chili cheese fries
That might be our next review downtown 🤔
Love both of them
Both are very good!!
the real koney island is in brooklyn! #NathansFamous
We do love us some Nathans but you can't beat a great Coney dog!

No wrong meat place but good quests.
They had a had a meat company in Detroit grind meat for dogs I forget the name but yeah not Dearborn frank.
I forget who makes there dogs but it's not Dearborn Meat it's more like a different company who has been around look them up.

👀
It seems I don’t get out much since I’ve never had either dog. Just appearance and details alone I gotta agree with Alec, American sounds superior.
Tiger & Jacob likes dirty food 🤢
They know what's best 👌
Detroit coneys have runny sauce...I've ate both of those...Flint Coneys are way better.. thicker, tastier sauce, Koegels hot dogs..
I live in between both cities
Could you name a good Flint Coney Island restaurant for me?
I like the idea of a thicker coney sauce
Thanks
