The price of these really goes up and down. I got one a year ago for a bargain GBP £500 and have just seen one on Reverb on for GBP £850. Its a really solid guitar. I've heard bad things about the standard tele pickups but they sound good to me. Do people replace them?
I 'm not a wheeler dealer like your self , I just bought one of these from Reverb for a total cost of $890.00 . It supposed to be in excellent condition, it is scheduled for delivery on Wednesday (6/14/23) . After I found out what you have invested in yours's I feel like maybe they should send a small jar of Vaseline with the invoice ., but oh well, if your gonna play you gotta pay , hopefully the Tele will be one of the bestest Tele's ever made (in Mexico). I’ve owned one of these for over 4 years and it’s still amazing to me.I’ll never get rid of this guitar,I’m down to just a Gibson LES Paul standard,a Gibson J-15 acoustic,and this Fender Telecaster.I’ve been thinning down the herd and these three guitars will never get gone.
I got one (pretty randomly as it felt good and was the only tele in the store that wasn't 1500 plus) back in 16 or 17 when they were in stores and it was I wanna say 500 or 600 something but since then I've spent money on other guitars that I saved for and were more expensive and I always find myself going back to this tele. It's personal preference but if I came across one when I have a little money to spare, I'd get another to put a banjo tuner on the low E and fiddle around with because I can't bring myself to mess with this one. Miles ahead of my JV 60s Strat that was way more expensive and Les Paul (different styles I know but they just don't have that perfect feeling). Something about that neck and ash body. I'd hold onto it. I will add I haven't had any issues with the tuners but lockers would be an upgrade.
I bought a natural Ash one 2 months ago for $365.00 It had a strap pull b bender installed in it, also had a Hipshot drop D tuner for the low E string a banjo drop tuners on the high E and A string' the rest of the tuners are Hipshot open back locking tuners and all six off of the tuner buttons are white perloid' they also put a brass roller nut on it and a roller string tree. They put a clear pickguard on it to match the clear b bender cover and it has a 4 way reverse control switch plate with a 500K linear volume pot, they also changed the bridge out for a Wilkinson one and added brass saddles for the high E and B strings/ steel saddles for the G and D strings and titanium saddles for the A and low E strings' all the saddles are roller ones. It also came with Schaller strap locks on it and a fender 2:1/2 road worn strap. It came in a fender hardshell case with all the original paper work and hang tags and Allen wrenches' they also included a Peterson strobo clip tuner. The guitar looks like brand new' maybe played an hour or 2 besides one small scratch on the back that's hardly visible. It has a 2'nd strap lock on the face of the upper bout' I guess they did that for when you're not using the B bender but looks kinda odd on there. They'd also replaced the pickups for a set of SD Stl-1b ones and include the original ones with it. I figured it was a pretty good deal so that's why I bought it. I now have 13 telecasters so I'll probably end up getting rid of one or maybe try to buy another one because I've had nothing but bad luck on a daily basis since I bought it.

$890 is a little high but Teles usually hold their value. I think you’ll be all right. Thanks for kind words.
