I have found that 3 small hydrogen tanks can support a small ship that has 12 small hydrogen engines for about 5 minutes and a flaw that I see in all of them are very short run times. Other than that they are amazing and keep up the great work
The last one just needed less lifting thrusters imo, and a way to limit max usage to less than 90 thrust... unless keen updated how they worked. For interplanetary transport, it seems great... even for going into space, if you can launch correctly with less than 90 percent thrust and minimal maneuvering thrust usage, but that would leave it rather open to attacks. Usually don't care much for speed builds, but loved them and glad I found the channel :D
Keep in mind when designing H2 ships that H2 tanks can only put out so many liters/second, and thrusters try to pull as much H2 as they can. If a H2 thruster isn't being fed enough H2, it doesn't put out its full thrust capability. You could probably get away with removing 1/3rd to 1/2 of your downward thrusters if all you have are 6 H2 tanks, and you'll get about the same thrust, with less overall mass for it to accelerate.
Ha ha oh no the fatal flaws XD My submission for video concepts: If you're up for a mod, this makes use of Draygo Korvan's aerodynamic physics mod. Pretty well known, so hopefully not a turn-off for too many people. Build a small grid ship to achieve the highest possible ACTUAL top speed in earthlike atmosphere at sea (ice) level. The mod introduces air resistance and "thrust" from lifting surfaces using only vanilla armor blocks. I can't remember the default settings, but I usually set my small grid ship top speed to 300 m/s. For most design concepts, it's pretty hard for me to get a small grid ship up past 140 m/s at sea level (or up to about 100m altitude above terrain obstacles). In default mod settings, I think that translates to about 70 m/s effective maximum out of theoretical 150 m/s top speed when in vacuum. This can be a challenge in and of itself, in an unlimited time class. Or it can fit the 1m, 10m, 1h format of this series as well. Real life intuition and simple engineering basics transfer fairly well: less block cross-sectional area = less drag. Radical streamlining ends up looking like IRL rockets (ha ha skinny tube go zoom).
The idea of the escape pod is nice, though adding a parachute block may be helpful when entering an atmosphere. Also, a thruster to push it out from the main ship may also be helpful.
The problem was the dampeners on the 2 thrusters slammed it into the ship, a better idea would be to have the override on the down thruster so that it always goes away
your 1 min build.. ugg. cockpit, h2-02 generator, 4 convayers, connector facing down, a few batteries on top of that (small) 6 h2 thrusters gyro. then throw on a few small armor blocks to give it a bit of structure. keeping everything with the 3x3 box it will fit through airlocks, so you can mount it as an airlock shuttle and transport. these things run just off ice... don't need h2 tanks... are pretty quick given their low mass.
The 1 hour ship kinda reminds me of the transportation shuttle from mass effect 2 and 3 its just the shape but also the covenant transportation vehicles that were sadly un drivable in halo 2
I'd like to see this done differently-ish go back to the ones that had some flaws and give yourself another hour and it doesn't have to be the same ship class
this is the definition of why overthinking is bad, got 10 min? no problem everything works, got an hour? makes it 50m from base
No he didn’t have enough time for the idea
it has its upsides. it uses hydrogen meaning it goes from space to planet. its fully protected besides that one walkway. all it needs is repiping.
Moreso a case of under thinking, only having a few tiny hydrogen tank is a pretty obvious bad idea
@13:23 "It's got mountains, it's got rivers, it's got sights to give you shivers. But it sure would be prettier with you..."

You should do rovers next!
favourite SE channel honestly. keep up the vids!

This is the earliest I’ve been to any video
Would be cool to see a combat ship version of this challenge!
My favorite kind of SE content recently

Yeah really fun challenge. Never seen this done in Space Engineers before
Fantastic bud! Great work!
I wonder if you try to create an attack craft/fighter in this build serie and see what you come up with?
10/10 vid :)
I would love to see this with drop pods.
i prefer the 2nd one :p nice vid! great idea
I love these challenges
The one minute ship is better than any ship I can build😭😭😭
You should 1min 10min 1hour then 1year absolutely massive ship
You gave me a great Idea!!!
You should try a 1min, 10min, and 1hour drone build video.
Please do fighters next. Or would a bomber be more interesting??
Symmetry mode can be quite the double-edged sword (pun intended).
Challenge: asymmetrical spaceship
(Your choice: for fight, cargo or transport)
I think landing gear, adequate supply of power and defensive ship weapons is a must. -4 on all builds
What is the name of the hydro ship?
You missed an opportunity to flip on the emergency alarm post-crash.
YAAAYYY ANOTHER BUILD CHALLENGE!!! \(^_^)/
Is the bug your talking about a dragonfly???
For the second one
Pls make a fighter on!
24:00 I'm sorry but 5/10 for a ship you yourself had an hour to build and then didn't work because it was flawed? Like...
Bro cmmented 4 times 💀
The one minute ship would take me 10 minutes
Because the building on console if extremely slow
Second commenter baby! Notice me daddy Andrew! Maybe a shoutout?
Please! I just want my survival series...
Coming soon! The 4th episode is recorded already.
Please I want my 1v1 survival game
kinda wanna see 2 minutes, 20 minutes and 2 hours.
Patiently waiting for the 1 minute capital ship episode 😉
Keep up the great work 👍
nice! the the escape pod has to be reserved for the captain, that way we ensure that he goes down with the ship :)
Only two types of ships to go. A cargo ship, and a Fighter. After those, maybe adjust the times used but try this challenge in large-grid!

This whole video captures the essence of the universal problems of 1) Overengineering and 2) No deadlines or too much time to complete a project
Love this series! Always interesting to see how you think.
I bought this game but I can't figure anything out. I would love to build the Outlaw Star. Anyone on PS4?
The escape pod - a piston to push it out of the ship and then release would be cool to see!
Lmfao the last ship is really a 2/10 , i was laughin so hard great video 😂
Land racers next?
And now the same in survival instead of creative?
Hahaha I don't know that I'd get very far! The one minute challenge would be just me looking for an iron deposit!
The 1 hour ship kinda reminds me of the transportation shuttle from mass effect 2 and 3 its just the shape but also the covenant transportation vehicles that were sadly un drivable in halo 2

this challenge is kind of cool and thinking of doing at well to see how well I can design ships quickly
Not sure why the 1hr ship torpedoed, but the thrusters were still on.
Very cool series. Love to see more.
I rather see you play the game than these kind of videos.
bro your voice is like razors to my ears cut the youtuber voice and just talk normally
