When we fly to and from Philippines, if we are not seated together, we ask at the desk and they reseat us together, we avoid long lay overs even if it saves you money. James
That’s a very long layovers.Were you not able to book and get a shorter layover?I know different states,different airlines has different flights schedules but you can choose between the longer and shorter layovers.I try to avoid flying with so many airports stop over and longer layovers.I did that when I was younger.Now I am a senior citizen and my husband is like Tom’s age,77 years old,We fly 16 hours direct from New York and I make sure to book our seats together ahead of time.For comfort we also book for premium economy which is so much more comfortable than regular economy class.More money,but hey we gonna spend a lot of money with our family too when we get to the Philippines,why not spend some for us too,to be comfortable.🤷♀️
Ye gods- 16 hour layover? I believe there are reasonably priced airport hotels. That way you can get some decent, proper rest. You can always “save” on something else later. Just my opinion.

Ye gods- 16 hour layover? I believe there are reasonably priced airport hotels. That way you can get some decent, proper rest. You can always “save” on something else later. Just my opinion.
