When you finish you will restart the campaign with your current characters level, skills, and inventory. This gives you the chance to level up more, get new weapons and do any missions you missed.

honestly in my opinion xian mei's rage is one of the best ones ive used, and she moves so fast in it that you have plenty of time to go into a crowed slaughter them all and run back before it ever runs out
This char I feel is the best char in the game. Soley on her Stamina regeneration and in regards to her abilities. Everything goes hand in hand with her fury/stamina. Sam has no real stamina booster regen, just defense. Xian becomes a nightmare early as well. Logan is gimmicky and Purna takes to long and even then I still would prefer Xian Mei. #xianmeiplayer

Honestly jist get the deo bomb blueprint as early as possible. That way any character with any build shouldnt have too much trouble for the rest of the game.

I wish the game was a little more RPG, and a little less action/adventure so that her threat reduction mattered a little more. I just wanted to point out that deep pockets is not useless and is in the utility tree. Being able to carry 6 extra weapons or consumables was invaluable. I always seem to want to carry no less than 15 items. Molotovs, Deo Bombs, an explosive military knife, enough melee weapons to fill my equip slots, a hand gun, a shot gun, medkits, meat bait, and inevitably you will pick up lots of alcohol.
@ExceedProduction Here's my take: 1. Absolutely. For co-op this game is a blast. If you're planning on playing it alone rent it.. 2. There are enough players to play online and the balancing is done fairly well. The game does a pretty good job of recommending players based on location, level, and progress in the main story line. 3. Xian Mei is the epitome of a "glass tank". She does a ton of damage, but has the HP of a toddler.
Xian is by far my favorite melee class, i find most slashing weapons do substantially more damage then any other weapon type accept daggers and small knives, when thrown it gets stuck in the zombie while blunt weapons fly through them, not only doing less damage then slashing but it also makes your blunt weapon difficult to find afterwards especially if you are playing as Logan, furthermore when you cut of limbs, most zombies tend to die instantly regardless of their remaining HP! Jump attack+Backstab+Head Strike+Critical will do colossal amounts of damage! Just get a katakana with 1000k base damage maximize your combat tree and every zombie will die in 1 strike! Her only weakness is low HP sort of a glass cannon so to speak, hence the difficulty curve! Inexperienced players will be dying often as Xian, she is really OP but takes some skill to use!
@itsadam95 Haha, don't sweat it. She's one of the most complicated characters to play. You can try to respec your character by choosing a new chapter, but you lose all of your weapons, mods, and maybe a few levels (depending on how ahead or behind the experience curve you are).
I'm playing a game with her and wasn't really sure about that skill but thinking of your motivation for it it's a no brainer, I'm getting that! Good point👍
after following your build guide till level 37. 1.) i went into the survival tree and got "Endurance" to max level. putting me at level 40 as that helps regen my stamina after i have sprinted for a long time. 2.) then got Field medicine putting me at 41 took it just cause it was better then the other ones. and at least helps with med-kits 3.) then got merchant which put me at 44 this helps cause i can buy crafting stuff from NPC's cheaper. allowing me to make modified weapons for people 4.) then got "Custom maintenance" putting me at 47, this is helpful as well, now i will hardly have to repair my weapons, and if i do they will have hardly lost durability 5.) then i got "Rally" putting me at level 50. once you reach the higher levels as Xian Mei, you will be taking a LOT of damage, and being able to regen stamina that much faster is so helpful. 6.) i then got the one skill in her "Rage" tree that gives her more HP when you use her Fury, this helps her stay alive longer if you ever get surrounded. this put me at 53. 7.) after that i decided to get the skill that increases the duration of poison effects. putting me at level 56. this is immensely helpful as if you manage to poison a Thug, Bucher, Floater or even a Ram, with the increased duration, before they even finish puking you should already have them dead. not sure what to put the remaining skills on... currently max level at 60 with 4 skill points left... not sure what to put them into, but might put them into Rage tree or something
Nice video. I've played through with her 3 times (all solo) and honestly never used her fury or the backstab/jump attack. She was actually my first character to use and by far my fav. I'm going to run through again and try those out. I like your videos, dude...pretty badass. Like to see the Dead Island stuff...this was a great game that definitely didn't get enough play.
@nikoelisdr99 After some extra research and testing you may be correct. It seems that the Fury and Survival main skills replace each other, but the main combat skills stack. I still don't have any factual evidence to back that up, but it would make sense.
@123Evdawg I can put up a quick video of how to do it. But it really is as easy as it sounds, just don't stop jumping and keep moving if you're not playing with a party. It's not easy, and takes some practice, you'll get it :D
Well, the special attack is just a forward stab she does, rather than swinging the weapon from one side to the other she stabs forward. Done properly you are going to behead most zombies or cut an arm. If you are using a fully upgraded weapon that is your same level its more likely an instant kill or close by, a normal attack should finish the job. And if you have a long reach weapon like Zed's Demise you might even kill 2 zombies with a single flying attack if they too close from one another.
@ThatGuyWithAnAccent1 It just depends, when you get further in the game there are too many enemies in groups to make the stomp viable. But I agree, the jump kick/stomp combo does make the beginning of the game tedious and easy.
Well, I followed the guides then added a few of personal touchs here and there. Like the bleeding effect with sharp weapons when you crit and increasing the poison and bleeding duration. Still this guide is great, I remember killing a thug with a single crit to the head with a jump attack. I finished the game a few days ago with Xian Mei, a single jump attack with a Deathsalker Zed's Demise and White was puking his guts out... then I just cut him into 3 different kinds of dishes from behind :)
Lol I build her exactly like that but at some point I like to put some points into “chance to decapatate “ lol bc it’s awesome to see heads popping off every so often.
When you're picking what character you want to be, you can select what chapter you want to start on but you would have had to already completed that chapter previously on THAT character in order to load it.
@TheGlassHelm No, that's a good skill and very important for characters like Purna and Logan. For Xian Mei and Sam B it's just not something I'd take before I was in the 40s as there are more important skills to have. Hope that description helps! :D

Don't overlook that first stomp... I started a new data as Sam b and was on my way to the life guard station, I leveled up... 8 levels in one kill due to end game challenges and it rendered all of my weapons useless, I got the stomp and had no trouble after that. It WILL get you out of a tight spot. I'll admit it is slow but even if you don't have the second stomp, the first one helps a lot at saving durability and money.
@Brandandorf I guess I found it useless because with Xian Mei, I never found the molotovs, deo bombs, meat bait or alcohol useful at all. I just had several melee weapons and a couple guns.
At first I went straight rage tree, and I became an unstoppable killing machine. Killing thugs and floaters with 1-2 hit. It was pretty awesome, also, I was a fan of the ninja perk, felt pretty cool to sneak up on zombies.
I finished all side quest and skulls and I'm 98% finished with dead island I just don't want to travel to prison bc it's stupid but anyways I use Logan and I'm level 50
Great guide thanks. As a completely new played i found it incredible usefull. I only made one tiny switch & this is probably just because of my playing style but perhaps other people find it usefull. I did a test char first up to about lvl 15 & one thing i noticed is i didnt use the Rage move at all. So on my real char i skipped Rage untill lvl 20-ish & instead got the Health aid right away & it really was notable when i was fumbling around on those low lvls as the health bar is so small.
this build does'nt work that well in dead island riptide because the thugs no long suffer distraction or urges to groan, also the range of most bladed weapons can be a harsh problem!
Personally, since she doesn't have so much health i like to have medkits do more for me, then i max out deeper pockets and put lockpick at lvl 2 until i have nothing else good to use at the moment then i put it at 3.
Once again, more fasle info. This is a RPG where you find loot and there is plenty of Lvl 3 chests that have amazing loot. The fact that your limiting your own luck and getting less drops throughout the story is retarded .
Else to say, I sarted this character as my first and It's the easyes to figure out how to build. Do I want + 159% damage :) hell yea. Do I want to be a nija, hell yea :)
love your build that is what I will try(: but unlike most people I play until I get to lvl 75, I usually get picklock and the one where zombies are not attacked to you
why does you go down when doing flying strikes i still stay at the same place a chose to strike a zombie like if i jump and stab his head my blade will still be there and not on the ground
@GodSeekerPW Hey bro, if you think that the build needs some work for completionist players, instead of just saying not to use the build in all capitals, provide the viewers with a helpful comment that may lead them in the right direction. The only thing people are going to see when reading your comment is "DO NOT USE THIS BUILD" which sends the wrong message. I've personally used this build up into the late 40s with no problems, if you've got some better ideas, let us know.
Who needs the blade master perk when eneimes are already instantly dying and I have eviscerator too which is probably Xian’s best blade weapons to use with the expert perk if you don’t have the master blade perk I don’t have the master perk I use deathstalker some poison with dealthstalker but I been told I can’t use plain blade weapons with the master perk idk
I dont bother using swords for flying strikes. i use my phoenix viking of the south which i am most pleased about. i found it in a chest that requires lockpick 3
I wish Xian would be able to do a straight downward attack while jumping with katanas which'd slice a zombie in half from the head to toe. That would be freaking amazing Kinda like Kenshin's Ryu tsui sen lol
I'd say absolutely not. Solo? Maybe it is...but with one friend or more, so long as one person has lock-picking it's an amazing way to find rare loot and get yourself some great cash/items in general. Don't go for it first though, wait a little bit on it
Hey TK i have two questions about Dead Island so when do you get pistols for Purna coz i am level 7 and i haven't got any pistols so please tell where and which level do you get pistols and the second one is that where do you hit infected and the one whose are on fire . pretty plzzzzz
I think its because he is thinking on the long term, that is lvl 50 (or 60 after 1.3 I believe). You might have a lot more money in lvl 50 with those talents, but you wont be as effective in a fight, which might be a problem
@cotton009 Check out my Xian Mei build part two. Maybe that will help you with the jump attacks :P As for the rage mode, I agree with you. By comparison to the others, it's the worst in the game.
I think Xian Mei might be the best character, followed by John, in Riptide, and Logan. Yeah, she's a glass cannon, but her skill that makes her less detectable let's you "sneak" around, and pick off zombies with your guns, mainly the sniper in Riptide. Her Bladed weapons bonuses make her the most op character in the game, because bladed weapons are already very damaging. She's also very good with two handed axes, btw. Her survival tree makes her medkits worth more, to the point where you can heal your entire bar with a medium medkit. If this translates to the medkits you use on your allies, that also makes her the best support character, because Imo, Purna's deal isn't that good. Now about John and Logan, John is a beast with his uppercut, though his range is lacking. This is offset by his crazy good fury, and his group fury too, which allows you to barrel through the maps at lightning speed. While Logan is good at every weapon type, except two-handed weapons, but he makes up for it with his boomerang skill. His Fury is probably the best ranged fury, too. Sam B lets you experiment with blunt weapons, but they are VERY underpowered, at least in my recent experience, when compared to bladed weapons, welded by blades experts. Purna is an overall meh character, one that I assume needs to be carried through the early game, with a flashy, but inefficient Rage mode, a reliance on firearms, which aren't very common, and whom require ammo, which can be a hassle to craft, and whose blueprints you don't get access to. I wonder what will be the meta for DI2!
Something else about Xian that I haven't tested; Her group fury has theoretically godly synergy with the Right hand of Glova, since that weapon kills your stamina, but her group fury gives you infinite stamina. I'll have to run through DI1 and get the blueprint, then migrate my save over to Riptide to test this out though, or I could ask the few randos that still play if they can drop a hand for me.
@@PapaRoboto Logan with shock bomb knife or mindblowing machete is definitely better than Xian. John has uppercut and his kick. Also good healing. Nothing to offset. He is good without fury.
Xian just trivializes the game once you get the detection by zombies perk maxed out and I would just take them out by throwing my weapons and killing them in like one hit or two if they were thug zombies

your right but TK said that you get rifles after level 20 and i was at Act II chapter 7 during the lady in trouble quest and got my first rifle but i got pistols at level 15 or 16 i believe
Its funny when you have maxed flying strikes, backtab, telling blows, pressure and struck of luck when you see the ram (hit by any side) dies instantly because of Stroke of luck xD. Out of the Survival tree i agree it sux but most important parts are vampire, lockpick and inventory stuff part and that's it. The Fury tree must be maxed out same as combat except some parts of it. All in all i think Xian is the most powerful char in the game after John (Riptide) or even stronger than him but she's squishy as shit... :D

Could not agree more with that "Takes damage like a girl" after playing Sam B for 4 years.
For real tho I was bamboozled by how much damage she takes, it helps enforce positive usage of the movement system and better habits overall.
Xian Mei is actually good for support if you are playing coop.

Bleeding damage to me sounds good, if you're fighting multiple enemies, you'd be switching between them while the other ones bleed out.
Bleeding damage is the most effective way to kill thugs.
Same as me, it has a great chance to get and you don't need high damage wepons for it too. Just pick a blade with high durability and done.
I think Logan has the best rage purely because of how fast you can take enemies out and there's the added bonus of range

her's is pretty much the same as sam's. both are very focused on melee. so they feel a lot alike, i haven't played pruna, but logans is decent to.
Sam B rage mode is much stronger and last super long. But the weakest rage mode (my opinion) would be Purna.
when i start a new game from chapter 18 i have all of my previous skills in place

I am getting DI soon to play with friends over Xbl and neither of them used Xian mei due to her health so this was a lot more help than they were.

Dying light 2 is currently broken on Xbox 1 so thank you for this build now I can get back to some techland fun meanwhile DL2 is under maintenance

It WILL get you out of a tight spot. I'll admit it is slow but even if you don't have the second stomp, the first one helps a lot at saving durability and money.
@Brandandorf I guess I found it useless because with Xian Mei, I never found the molotovs, deo bombs, meat bait or alcohol useful at all. I just had several melee weapons and a couple guns.

At first I went straight rage tree, and I became an unstoppable killing machine. Killing thugs and floaters with 1-2 hit. It was pretty awesome, also, I was a fan of the ninja perk, felt pretty cool to sneak up on zombies.
I finished all side quest and skulls and I'm 98% finished with dead island I just don't want to travel to prison bc it's stupid but anyways I use Logan and I'm level 50

Great guide thanks. As a completely new played i found it incredible usefull. I only made one tiny switch & this is probably just because of my playing style but perhaps other people find it usefull. I did a test char first up to about lvl 15 & one thing i noticed is i didnt use the Rage move at all. So on my real char i skipped Rage untill lvl 20-ish & instead got the Health aid right away & it really was notable when i was fumbling around on those low lvls as the health bar is so small.

this build does'nt work that well in dead island riptide because the thugs no long suffer distraction or urges to groan, also the range of most bladed weapons can be a harsh problem!
Xian Mei is like almost the strongest character for dead island riptide too right like Sam B

Personally, since she doesn't have so much health i like to have medkits do more for me, then i max out deeper pockets and put lockpick at lvl 2 until i have nothing else good to use at the moment then i put it at 3.
you can get some decent weapons from these boxes. but the three points needed, make it unnecessary.
Once again, more fasle info. This is a RPG where you find loot and there is plenty of Lvl 3 chests that have amazing loot. The fact that your limiting your own luck and getting less drops throughout the story is retarded .

Else to say, I sarted this character as my first and It's the easyes to figure out how to build. Do I want + 159% damage :) hell yea. Do I want to be a nija, hell yea :)

My Logan is 32 and I'm on Chapter 7. My Purna is 26 and I'm still on the Island.
love your build that is what I will try(: but unlike most people I play until I get to lvl 75, I usually get picklock and the one where zombies are not attacked to you
why does you go down when doing flying strikes i still stay at the same place a chose to strike a zombie like if i jump and stab his head my blade will still be there and not on the ground
@GodSeekerPW Hey bro, if you think that the build needs some work for completionist players, instead of just saying not to use the build in all capitals, provide the viewers with a helpful comment that may lead them in the right direction. The only thing people are going to see when reading your comment is "DO NOT USE THIS BUILD" which sends the wrong message. I've personally used this build up into the late 40s with no problems, if you've got some better ideas, let us know.
Who needs the blade master perk when eneimes are already instantly dying and I have eviscerator too which is probably Xian’s best blade weapons to use with the expert perk if you don’t have the master blade perk I don’t have the master perk I use deathstalker some poison with dealthstalker but I been told I can’t use plain blade weapons with the master perk idk

I dont bother using swords for flying strikes. i use my phoenix viking of the south which i am most pleased about. i found it in a chest that requires lockpick 3
i like xians rage. takes big guys down in one to three hits and kills everyone else in one shot
would it be better to get vampire early, it would delay getting the headstomp but would it be easier with near infi flying attacks?
I wish Xian would be able to do a straight downward attack while jumping with katanas which'd slice a zombie in half from the head to toe.

maintenance is good for Xian Mei since most of her weapons are blade type which are short on durability.
I'd say absolutely not. Solo? Maybe it is...but with one friend or more, so long as one person has lock-picking it's an amazing way to find rare loot and get yourself some great cash/items in general. Don't go for it first though, wait a little bit on it

If u level up her Fury correctly.......it is possible to get 2 kills and refill your Rage fully.
Hey TK i have two questions about Dead Island so when do you get pistols for Purna coz i am level 7 and i haven't got any pistols so please tell where and which level do you get pistols and the second one is that where do you hit infected and the one whose are on fire . pretty plzzzzz
Personal preference. I'm partial to Purna myself.
It's an order of operations as it's doing 90% more then doing 60% AFTER that 90%.
I think its because he is thinking on the long term, that is lvl 50 (or 60 after 1.3 I believe). You might have a lot more money in lvl 50 with those talents, but you wont be as effective in a fight, which might be a problem
@cotton009 Check out my Xian Mei build part two. Maybe that will help you with the jump attacks :P As for the rage mode, I agree with you. By comparison to the others, it's the worst in the game.

I think Xian Mei might be the best character, followed by John, in Riptide, and Logan.
Yeah, she's a glass cannon, but her skill that makes her less detectable let's you "sneak" around, and pick off zombies with your guns, mainly the sniper in Riptide.
Her Bladed weapons bonuses make her the most op character in the game, because bladed weapons are already very damaging. She's also very good with two handed axes, btw.
Her survival tree makes her medkits worth more, to the point where you can heal your entire bar with a medium medkit.
If this translates to the medkits you use on your allies, that also makes her the best support character, because Imo, Purna's deal isn't that good.
Now about John and Logan,
John is a beast with his uppercut, though his range is lacking. This is offset by his crazy good fury, and his group fury too, which allows you to barrel through the maps at lightning speed.
While Logan is good at every weapon type, except two-handed weapons, but he makes up for it with his boomerang skill. His Fury is probably the best ranged fury, too.
Sam B lets you experiment with blunt weapons, but they are VERY underpowered, at least in my recent experience, when compared to bladed weapons, welded by blades experts.
Purna is an overall meh character, one that I assume needs to be carried through the early game, with a flashy, but inefficient Rage mode, a reliance on firearms, which aren't very common, and whom require ammo, which can be a hassle to craft, and whose blueprints you don't get access to.
I wonder what will be the meta for DI2!
Something else about Xian that I haven't tested;
Her group fury has theoretically godly synergy with the Right hand of Glova, since that weapon kills your stamina, but her group fury gives you infinite stamina.
I'll have to run through DI1 and get the blueprint, then migrate my save over to Riptide to test this out though, or I could ask the few randos that still play if they can drop a hand for me.
@@PapaRoboto Logan with shock bomb knife or mindblowing machete is definitely better than Xian. John has uppercut and his kick. Also good healing. Nothing to offset. He is good without fury.
Xian just trivializes the game once you get the detection by zombies perk maxed out and I would just take them out by throwing my weapons and killing them in like one hit or two if they were thug zombies

if you attack with your feet on the ground and you hit a zombie whilst jumping does the flying effect still apply?
your right but TK said that you get rifles after level 20 and i was at Act II chapter 7 during the lady in trouble quest and got my first rifle but i got pistols at level 15 or 16 i believe

Its funny when you have maxed flying strikes, backtab, telling blows, pressure and struck of luck when you see the ram (hit by any side) dies instantly because of Stroke of luck xD.
Out of the Survival tree i agree it sux but most important parts are vampire, lockpick and inventory stuff part and that's it. The Fury tree must be maxed out same as combat except some parts of it. All in all i think Xian is the most powerful char in the game after John (Riptide) or even stronger than him but she's squishy as shit... :D
the one thing is that i like to drop kick in dead island and i dont play as her then i see all the air skills wow
