I think physics can totally change your way of thinking or your perception about any stuff in the universe and also if you make physics your life then it will definitely give you a different level of confidence
I've always had a problem with the statement "think like a scientist", especially after having met people who are considered actual scientists. For one, it's too dogmatic, as it makes it sound as though every scientist you meet is someone you want to emulate without questioning why. For another, you might not want to emulate a scientist, because they may come with undesirable qualities, particularly when you get into the reality of how scientists have to compete with one another for funding, rewards, and resources, or the fact that some have cast aside other important things in life for the sake of advancing their careers, treating "science" as though it is a religion to be worshiped and revered, and not prioritizing enough people's individual welfare or respecting differences in opinion.
Scientists don't treat science as religion, the lay people do that. Science strives for Objectivity, if you aren't striving for that then you will stagnate in life.

Even R2 universities tend to hire from R1 universities. When you're an academic, you can go across and down, but not up.
