    Had a great aunt she gave me a roll of silver quarters. In the 70's I believe her and a friend would get rolls/boxes of coins. They would search for silver and split it between themselves. I saw her trunk of coins didn't get to "look" threw it. She helped fill my Lincoln cent book #2. ❤️

    I had been ' stacking ' for about 12 years. I've sold about 85% percent over the last 5 years. Now I am into making complete sets of coins, both silver and clad. Whatever tickles your fancy. Just completed the full run of Washington quarters 1932 to 2022, silver Roosevelt dimes, and the full run of Peace dollars as well. Along with clad Bicentennial quarters and halfs (400 of each). I say collect what suits you the best. If you like a certain coin or bill, do some research and have fun. We do love our silver. Great video Max as usual. You never cease to amaze me with the knowledge and the shareability. Thank you sir. Can't wait for the next one.

    just started silver stacking and I've got a fun story. 20 years ago my dad was in a car center and they had a rule that if the owner didn't come back to pick up their belongings in 30 days he got to keep it. He finds a 2001 SILVER EAGLE, leaves it in his closet for 20 years, and gives it to me! Great way to start my stacking.

    • @BrettMKW
      @BrettMKW 2 года назад +2

      I too have an interesting story but it wasn't the start of my silver collection, I've had a stack for quite some time now. My mother used to work at a bank about 10 years ago, a guy comes in with 18 half dollars that he wants to trade in for face value, so she gives him the 9 dollars, then decided to take the money out of the drawer and replace it with $9 of her own.
      She knows nothing about silver whatsoever, just saw 18 Kennedy halves and thought they had to be worth something because half dollars are quite uncommon, but the truth is the non-silver ones are just worth their face value 50 cents. Well, 17 of the 18 were 40% halves, obviously someone at some point in time knew what those coins were since there's no way that's a coincidence, but that someone wasn't the guy trading them in at the bank! I guess my mother was right about them being worth something, but for the wrong reason.

    • @canadagoose188
      @canadagoose188 2 года назад +1

      @@BrettMKW I heard that cashiers can get silver coins from time to time, once somebody I knew (who was a cashier) found a 1927 standing liberty quarter in the cash drawer!

    • @BrettMKW
      @BrettMKW 2 года назад

      @@canadagoose188 I believe it. It's very possible although I've never worked as a cashier in any capacity so I can't say for sure. My mother knew nothing about silver coins and just got lucky that all except one of the half dollars were worth more than face value, so there were probably other nondescript Washington quarters and stuff that she didn't think anything of and let them slip through. Every year my father throws all his pocket change into a 5 gallon bucket and cashes it in at the end of the year, and I spend hours going through them for fun and average 1-2 silver coins. It's definitely not worth the time investment for the money I make out of it, but I do it for the joy of the find.
      A friend of mine did own a laundromat alongside his father for a few years and in that time collected around 60 or so silver quarters, and got a liberty V nickel (don't ask me how, I know they aren't really worth much but still odd to get a nickel in any capacity at a laundromat.) He sold me the quarters for spot value and they're sitting in a ziploc bag in a safe. His father has since passed away and those are the only coins in my stack I will never sell without asking him first, because I know they're kinda sentimental to him. I'd sell them back to him for spot value no questions asked and he knows this, but he hasn't asked me for them or anything so I don't feel guilty about still holding on to them.

    As silver prices continue to rise and my stack threatens to overtake me, I have been considering going gold as well.
    I'm no a big fan of gold really, I prefer silver I think they look better. But it might be time to minimize and consolidate my private stack.
    I still have plenty of silver vaulted which is what I trade with so I'm not worried with that.
    The only physical gold I have is a handful of Maplegrams because they are small and easy to store.
    I have gold vaulted with the Perth Mint, but it's time to get some for around the house.
    Very nice collection! Mine not so varied. Eagles, Morgan's, generic bars and junk silver.

    I’m a amateur stacker have a small stack but I just got 2 1996 Silver eagles without realizing they were anything special wanted to know your opinion on what I should do with these they’re in relatively great condition with some toning. Should I sell them or keep them if I sold them I would convert them into just plain silver for my stack I’m not a coin collector

      If you got them for a good price I'd say keep them for the stack 👍

    I would advise getting some nice numismatic coins --- you could get your stuff some nice Walking Liberties from the 1920's to early 30's, a low mintage gold coin or early copper US coins. If World try the Central American Republic 8 Reales, undervalued and mintages are modest to low.

    Hello silverpicker! My question for you is when you sell this stack. How are you going to sell it?

      I already did, the video explaining it drops tonight!

    But you aren’t dumping it all ? I would keep a fair bit of it to. Comes off a bit click bait like when you say “dumping it all” then keeping most of it .

    Hey man, I wouldn't carry that guilt with you much further. It sounds like you've done your time of regretting the price differential that neither of you were extremely versed in but hey, it's not the young's job to teach old people about gold and silver XD Precious metal pricing is supposed to be something everyone watches, it's certainly easy enough. The fact that she still thought it was 1950 in the year 2000 isn't your fault, especially not if you're excited about something she took for granted a long time ago.
    XD besides, the real shame is that she should have gotten into Platinum/ palladium already and probably hasn't lol.

    If you were starting again today with a decade of knowledge where would you start in terms of both gold and silver coins?

    • @Silverpicker
      @Silverpicker  2 года назад

      I think I started in silver because it was more readily available and it required lower capital costs. I think I'd do it over the same, assuming the circumstances were the same
