hi, from the Philippines here. the Rubber sheets are EVA foam and Black linso. we get them in large mats (1.5 meters by 3 meters) and are available at shoe materials shops in a town called Marikina, here in Manila. i make costumes too, and i use 3 types of thickness: 2mm, 4mm, and 6mm for costumes. i also use 10mm sheets for props. it would cost P200 for a mat of 6mm (roughly $4). we use Cyanoacrylate Adhesive ( we call it "shoe glue" ) to stick pieces of rubber together. Your channel is very informative, and im saving up to buy some of your books too.
Info for Aussies: Bunnings sells floor mats with texture on one side. The Hero Studio and Lumin’s Cosplay Workshop sell untextured EVA in a variety of colours, sizes and thicknesses. (ie they are the Aussie versions of TnT cosplay supply). Craft foam can be bought from Lincraft in A3 size and Riot craft as well.
Harbor Freight also has EVA rolls of foam :) It comes in 12 sq. ft rolls and is the same density as their packs of floor mats I believe, great for bigger armor pieces! I love it
regarding the LD40,LD33 foam the number is the density so higher the number the harder it is. my day job is making packaging and we get in sheet 1500 X 1000x 100mm you can get it in almost any color. we use bandsaws to cut it to any shape and CNC to do cut out for say a tool box. you can heat weld it with a hot air gun. company that sells it in the UK is called Ramfoam Limited. hope this helps. sorry for any spelling mistakes i am dyslexic.
For people in the UK: Just use a yoga mat from Tescos. They come in a few thickness and are pretty cheap. Of course, they come in a pretty big roll too.
That's a good idea even for people here in the states. We have discount stores like Ross Dress for less, TJMaxx and Marshalls that often have discounted yoga supplies near the ladies fitness section. Might catch them there at a discount. RUclipsr "Odin Makes" made a Thor's hammer from a yoga block.
Im making armour for a toothless cosplay and this helped so much! I was skeptic about craft foam, thinking it wasnt going to work, but now I have a chance!
I smuggled some free foam out of work one day and I've been having a hard time figuring out what it is and what quality it is. This vid helped a lot. I think its L200. So now I know what I'm working with.
In Japan I believe the popular foam to use is called Lion Board, which seem to just be a Eva foam and is also smooth on both sides and is popular for hero costumes
Dude u are a life saver! I was about to spend $25 for a pack of 6 foam tiles but as soon as you said "Harbor Freight" I said hold on, I have a Harbor Freight let me check and see if they have it. And sure enough they do. $8 for a pack of 4!!!!!
I never expected Bill to feature the Philippines and Rubber sheet. It was the last thing I expected and yet his last segment was about the PH and Rubber Sheet. Yes. I'm from the Philippines, Rubber Sheet is sorta like EVA foam, however it doesn't have the density like floor mats. But it functions the same way if you cut it with safety/cutter knives or heat it up with a heatgun. You can get Rubber Sheet in rolls in hardware stores. You'll just decide if you want a flat or textured side. Thank you Bill for your videos and tutorials. :D
For anyone in Australia looking for foam: Bunnings has the thick floor mat sheets in the camping section, I can't remember the price of these ones! Reject Shop occasionally has large rolls of EVA which are slightly thinner than the floor mats near the garden pot isle for $25. The really thin craft foam you can find sheets of in the kids craft section of Spotlight for around $2 per pack. For upholstery foam, Clark Rubber sells heaps and often has large cutoffs for around $2-$10. Hopefully this helps any crafters around here~
If you're in New Zealand, Para Rubber is great and they have a great selection of thicknesses and densities. As well as an assortment of attachments, velcro, and much more. I was honestly surprised by the range of things I could find in one store.
Don't be afraid of ordering from "importpris" and "vidaxl" .no . Delivery is surprisingly great. Tho living in Norway, just go to slöjd og detaljer for roll of foam and grab some Wobla 70% off on your way out 😉
Over the summer I made a personal variant of the Skyrim steel armor based on your tutorials and I am very happy with the results of my first foam crafting project! I'm actually thinking of making the Praetorian Guard from The Last Jedi now. Watching your channel ruined me for movies because I spent that whole scene thinking of how to put together that armor!
I'm currently wanting to get into cosplaying (which I've secretly always have wanted to do), and I'm currently looking at making something like the Doomfist from Overwatch. Point is, I'm doubting myself a bit, but seeing your comment really gives me hopes that I can do it too.
I really want to thank you, Bill. I've been wanting to build something with foam after seeing your work. I been wondering about the foam but I haven't been able to get any information about it or where to get it. Great Christmas present, brother! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year !
I got some foam from TNT Cosplay Supply as a prize for placing in SLCC 2017, its some great stuff to have on hand. They even wrote a little congratulations on the shipping box it arrived in XD
For the people in the phil, there are several Rubber Foam dealers in some areas in manila :3 you can get huge sheets for cheap like those in TNT cosplay cosplay foams
Also for folks in the UK/Europe - I only knew about Coscraft for the longest time (wonderful site, has wigs and thermoplastics and other goodies). They have sheets of XLPE +EVA Foam (basically, very thin but also very dense), which comes in 1, 2, and 3 mm increments. They also have something they just call Cosfoam, which is high density and comes in either 5 mm or 10 mm thicknesses, and costs extra to ship out of the UK because they come in big chunky sheets (and won't ship outside of Europe for the 2 x 1 m sheet) - I'm not certain of the specifics beyond that, however. Fortunately, the site has sample packs for £2 if you're unsure about them and don't want to spend an arm and a leg on ordering a huge slab of foam that you might not even like. Artyfakes/Poly-Props (I think they're the same people?) also offer £2 sample packs, by the way. Sorry for being a bit longwinded, but it's always been a nightmare to try find foam in the UK that isn't just regular, thin craft foam, so I thought it would be helpful info.
found L200 and L400 in colors and black, white also plastizote too at Foam Mart in california, Los angeles to be exact and they ship. i am in San Francisco and they shipped these big sheets to me. pretty fast too.
If you're in the US and looking for large quantities of those floor mats, check out ULINE. They sell them and literally anything you could possibly find in a warehouse or large office for a fairly reasonable price. Just be warned if you live west coast shipping could be pricy
Heya folks in the South East United States looking for foam! Hobby Lobby has Silly Winks/Playtime brand craft foam. 5mm thick 18x12in sheets for $1.27 in many colors, darker they go the more dense with blue and black being the densest. Best of luck yall!
you are literally my spirit animal! I've never cosplayed before and im wanting to make keiths paladin armour for as cheap as i can lmao if you see this please tell me how youre went and how expensive it was roughly?? I'm jobless and broke so theres that XD
Heya Bill! Proptart checking in! I currently live in Japan, and everyone uses stuff called "Soft Board" or Riara Board (one brand name is Koyo Soft Board) or Lion Board (Old brand from what I hear is not available anymore but everyone still calls the stuff that). Comes in small sheets to big rolls in thicknesses of 1.5, 3, 5, and 10mm (i've heard of thicker but never encountered it or ordered any myself). If you'd like some samples I'd be happy to slide some your way!
Love the stuff from TNT Cosplay Supply. I got a silver sharpie with my order which was nice :). I was not expecting that funky offgas smell though, phew! Gotta let it air out!
i live in Malaysia Just like my armor i use for my default photo we use EVA foam or other people call rubber sheet. The price it depend on the thickness of the foam usually around MYR30 or 7 USD something. The size we can get is 1x2 meter
Hey Bill This is great. I really enjoy when you do this type of content. Its super useful. I know you probably get blasted with "hey you should do xyz" So I won't do that I'll just say one cool/helpful thing I pick up on in your videos is using shop tools and build remnants to build things to help you in .. builds. The other day I took a square of foam as a base glued to a Long piece of hanger wire and added a clip. I use the heck outta that thing. I don't think you literally do that. But I've seen you do some similar things ;) And for sure that was inspired by your watching channel. Sorry this is an email, not a comment LOL Great as always
For HUUUUUGE sheets, I like to go to Canal Rubber (it's in my city but they do ship iirc) Their EVA foam ranges in thicknesses but all of them are 3ft x 6ft
thanks for this video. I just started using foam clay and TNT has some of the best prices for the volume. Also, love the foam sheets (free shipping yo!)
We also have EVA foam here in the Philippines. And it comes in different thickness and color. It's available in Marikina, our shoe capital. And Bill, whatever did you do here in our country?
Bill, I'm diggin' the AvE (hey, that's EVA backwards!) vibe you've had in the past couple vidjayos. Half expected to hear "down in the doobleydoo" to come out of your mouth. Also, your Nicholson Joker reference wasn't lost on me. Keep up the good work.
Hey Bill, can you do a tutorial video on cutting the foam with a laser? I have a GlowForge, and I'd appreciate any help you could give me in getting started. Thanks!
I buy plastazote and volara in bulk for my business and I use it to build costumes and props too, it's good stuff! I have nearly every density and the hd115 is so stiff it feels like plastic!
I have a school project comming up and I wanted to know if you have any specific tips to cleanly cut out circle and different shapes from the middle or a foam mat and puzzling them together (similar to how children mats are assembled) ..thank you !
I 'rescued' a huge roll of EVA or polyurethane (not sure which) foam from my work before it's closure. It's about 20mm thick and 4ft by about 50m. I had to make 2 smaller rolls just to get it home in my 4x4. Not sure what to do with it now!
I ordered some foam from TNTCosplaySupply a few weeks ago and the package was lost in the mail. I contacted them about it and they haven't gotten back to me. Not sure how reliable of a service they really are.
Hi Bill! I would like to know how to use a Dremel rotary tool on EVA foam. I just got a Dremel and I'm nervous about trying it out. Do you have a video on how to do it? Thanks!
I've always been wondering what the equivalent of Kamui's foam is in America. Thank you for shedding light on that. Have you tried foam clay at all? I know it has a few different names. TNT's version is "C-4 (Cosplay Creative Clay Compound)".
Is the process for making armor from craft foam the same as just using EVA? I’m trying to make my own LARP costumes and using craft foam maybe easier to repair. Have you done a video on using craft foam? Love the channel by the way
do you know of any places in America where i can find large rolls of EVA Foam like in the video? Also, love your channel, your advice has helped me a ton!
Hey Bill , great video. I'm just getting into cosplay and was wondering where you get your EVA dowels? I saw some on TNT cosplay but wanted to know if you knew of anywhere else that supplies them.
You can certainly lay fiberglass on foam, you just have to be cautious of any warping that might result from weight or heat while the resin cures. I haven't personally tried putting fiberglass on foam, so I'm not sure which ones would work best for that method.
I know Kamui gets the 100kg EVA foam from a local cosplay shop here in Belgium, and Yaya has referenced & credited them too after she visited a convention over here. The owner is a stupendous fellow with great service, highly recommend them. cosplayshop.be/en/home-en/
Serious question, not sure where to ask - I got the 24x24" foam squares from Wally world, thinking these are eva foam. But literally no glue will hold two pieces together. I then tried a dozen great pieces using lepage rubber cement, gorilla glue, white glue, silicone, contactor glue, spray glue, double sided tape, NOTHING will hold together regardless of joining by a lap joint, but joint, etc.
Hmmmm, I'm not sure how to help you there. It's possible the foam has some kind of coating on it that doesn't work with adhesives. You may be able to sand it off, but it's probably easier to get different foam.
Great video! I am totally ignorant on foam and I like to ask your assistance. I am looking for 2" thick sheets of dense foam (or rubber foam) to set electronic equipment on that will not give, either with or without adhesive backing. What type of foam would this be? Is this closed cell foam? I have seen it in black or gray in road cases such as Odyssey Road Cases. Reminds me of the exercise foam blocks. Now on Amazon I found something called NSI Minicell Foam but I can't tell if it is dense or squishy. Do you know about NSI Minicell foam? If so, could you educate me. Any assistance would be great. Thanks!
I was curious - you mentioned you used a laser to cut some of you foam with. Can you elaborate a little? I have a 30watt Epilog laser I got for cheap and refurbished it for use with my current side business only to find out it's not really powerful enough to do what I needed. Is 30 watts enough to do anything with foam? Please, dear God say yes :P
Hi, I'm in the UK and just bought 6 huge Eva floor tiles from Halfords car shop, total coverage 1200x1800mm, it is textured on one side and plain on the other. The pack was £10. I have a question for anyone who might know in the UK, I just bought evo-stick 528 comes in a green tin and evo stick impact, comes in a red tin, iv read both tins and can't work out what the difference is between them, would appreciate any advice, ta peeps.🙋🏽👍🏽
Hello I'm in the UK in Southend on Sea Essex The difference between the both of them I think is the green tin is a low odour but I'm waiting for evo stik to reply to the question then I will message you subscribe to my channel to keep in touch.....
I was in Harbor Freight today looking at their floor mat packs and noticed that it is marked as neoprene rubber foam, not EVA. Is this a change? Would this still work for armor and take paint OK?
hi i am looking to make some foam wigs for our schools spring play " your a good man charlie brown" I am in the us any suggestions would be great i am new to this
Its really difficult to find eva foam in the UK and when we can the price is always very high compared to the price that you have in the USA, have you got any idea why this is??? 😊😊😊
good timing with me posting in the fb group on where to get stuff in the us. do you know the difference in the densitys of the tnt stuff? they have "degrees" listed as a description and i dont know if thats like a shore hardness or what
It can take a little while, but adhering some high grit sandpaper to a paint stir stick (something you can usually get for free from hardware stores like Home Depot) and using that to sand the back flat is an option.
+Punished Props Academy Will High-grit Sandpaper work on making Angles on foam? I tried cutting some myself, but didn't get clean cuts on the wider areas. plus, I sliced my right thumb pretty good when sharpening my Box cutter knife blade.
Sandpaper can help with angles but the main work in creating an angle will come from the cut. A tool like this can help when cutting angles: amzn.to/2PNxi7o What sharpening method are you using? The Kershaw sharpener shouldn't require much force to get a good edge and is generally pretty safe to use.
Hey question-for those of us who can get access to those children's foam floor mats in crazy colours, would that be a viable option for starter builds?
i have a question : i am working on a puppet and i was thinking of making its skeleton ( to keep it in shape ) out of EVA foam what thickness would you advice or should i use something else for it ? it ends up being a full arm dragon puppet ( with some of the puppet going over the shoulder and on my back ) so i would make the part that goes on my back with eva foam rings to give the body a more permanent shape and will be covered by fur the part that goes over my arm will also have those rings but further apart / thinner so i can still bend my arm sorta like the one tiny badger made with the blinking eyes but then only on 1 arm
I think foam would work great for that depending on how you structure it. If you do linked rings with supporting connectors, I think EVA foam would be a really successful option. Something close to 1/4" would probably work just fine. - Paige
I’m trying to make large yoga foam blocks... where can I get that material or the chemicals to make it? Looking to make 6” x 20” x 24” or larger blocks
hi, from the Philippines here.

Hello po... I just wanted to ask if you know where to buy cosplay foams here in Cebu...😃
Whats the name of the store you buy it from
@@mjd2108 shoppee and lazada
Info for Aussies: Bunnings sells floor mats with texture on one side. The Hero Studio and Lumin’s Cosplay Workshop sell untextured EVA in a variety of colours, sizes and thicknesses. For people in the UK: Just use a yoga mat from Tescos. They come in a few thickness and are pretty cheap. Of course, they come in a pretty big roll too.
Halfords have the 2'x2' sections too.
That's a good idea even for people here in the states. We have discount stores like Ross Dress for less, TJMaxx and Marshalls that often have discounted yoga supplies near the ladies fitness section. Might catch them there at a discount. RUclipsr "Odin Makes" made a Thor's hammer from a yoga block.
that's a great idea - thank you!!!
This foam is our products
This is genius, thank you so much!
In Canada hit a dollarama 2 bucks for 4 12 by 12 chunks or hit a liquidation store
Thank youuu! You’re a lifesaver.
In Japan I believe the popular foam to use is called Lion Board, which seem to just be a Eva foam and is also smooth on both sides and is popular for hero costumes
Ooh that's great!

What can I say except that your channel is just magical?! It helps me so much! Keep doing it, it is such a source of inspiration!!

The only source for EVA floor, ats in Norway is through a hardare store called ”Biltema”. They sell 4-packs for around 17 dollars

Super helpful for people getting into foam base cosplay! Weather your new or just needed more outlets to buy from.

Ohhhh snap! We don't have a Hobby Lobby near us, but good tip! =D
Oh man, where do they have it? I am always at hobby lobby and never see the stuff!
great video, perfect timing. my daughters are getting ready to start their cosplay for our local comicon in May!
That's perfect!

Great!!! Thanks!! Hugs and happy Christmas from Spain!!!
You're welcome!

You need to let your foam breathe, like a fine wine.
Can you explain which foam is best for certain projects.
And how do you laminate the pieces together ?
I think when i decide to make a costume i will use this video to follow. Because i really wonna cosplay as Kane from TitanFall 2!
i live in Malaysia
Just like my armor i use for my default photo we use EVA foam or other people call rubber sheet. The price it depend on the thickness of the foam usually around MYR30 or 7 USD something. The size we can get is 1x2 meter

Hi Bill! I would like to know how to use a Dremel rotary tool on EVA foam. I just got a Dremel and I'm nervous about trying it out. Do you have a video on how to do it? Thanks!
You should just experiment on scraps. Use safety glasses and some type of mask so you’re not breathing in the dust.
Have you ever used any foam as a building material for anything none cosplay?
YOU.ARE.A.LIFE.SAVER
I've always been wondering what the equivalent of Kamui's foam is in America. Thank you for shedding light on that. Have you tried foam clay at all? I know it has a few different names. TNT's version is "C-4 (Cosplay Creative Clay Compound)".
We haven't tried foam clay yet, but we will soon.
Punished Props Academy Sweet. Looking forward to when you guys do :)
Is the process for making armor from craft foam the same as just using EVA? I’m trying to make my own LARP costumes and using craft foam maybe easier to repair. Have you done a video on using craft foam? Love the channel by the way
Craft foam and EVA foam are the same thing.
do you know of any places in America where i can find large rolls of EVA Foam like in the video? Also, love your channel, your advice has helped me a ton!
We get our foam from TNT Cosplay Supply. Link in the description.
Hey Bill , great video. I'm just getting into cosplay and was wondering where you get your EVA dowels? I saw some on TNT cosplay but wanted to know if you knew of anywhere else that supplies them.
So far, TNT has been the only supplier that I've seen that carries them.
Thanks Bill, great video
If your in the very low budget side of cosplaying but can afford alittle foam but can foam and cardboard be a good combination for crafting costumes?
Can fiberglass be added to the foam, to create a durable shell?
And ifso, which foam would you recommend?
You can certainly lay fiberglass on foam, you just have to be cautious of any warping that might result from weight or heat while the resin cures. I haven't personally tried putting fiberglass on foam, so I'm not sure which ones would work best for that method.
Eeeeey! Shoutout from the Philippines!
When did you go the Philippines?! Also can you do a tutorial about sintra boards? Thanks! :)
I went to Asia Pop ComicCon Manila a couple years ago.
I’m currently making the crescent Rose for a con and I was wondering which density I should go with: 38, 50, or 60
I know Kamui gets the 100kg EVA foam from a local cosplay shop here in Belgium, and Yaya has referenced & credited them too after she visited a convention over here.
The owner is a stupendous fellow with great service, highly recommend them.

Splendid!
thank God you saved me. im from ph and I dont knkw the foam here till now.
So, how durable is Eva foam actually? I've been working with it for a while now, but I'm curious as to how it'll hold up to use.
I get the floor mats from Lowe’s. They are $20 for 4 24x24” 12mm shesta
Nice!
Which EVA do you recommend that I can shape easily but is also pretty squishy too? I’m trying to make model car seats
Homedepot sells some flooring roll of foam.
Mine is 45 watts and it handles foam just fine. I bet your 30 watt laser would do well too.
They mention (tntcosplaysupply) as a way to purchase EVA foam.
Hello I'm in the UK in Southend on Sea Essex
The difference between the both of them I think is the green tin is a low odour but I'm waiting for evo stik to reply to the question then I will message you subscribe to my channel to keep in touch.....
I'm probably going to make a noble six armor and helmet set so i need black and gray
super great colors
Eyyyy!!! Phillipines !!!!
I was in Harbor Freight today looking at their floor mat packs and noticed that it is marked as neoprene rubber foam, not EVA. Is this a change? Would this still work for armor and take paint OK?
Please suggest for India also
hi i am looking to make some foam wigs for our schools spring play " your a good man charlie brown" I am in the us any suggestions would be great i am new to this
Do you have a video or tips on how to make a mould from a foam prop
Sorry I've never done that before. I prefer to make molds from more rigid materials like plastic, wood, or 3D prints.
thanks for sharing your experiences : )
You're welcome!
Its really difficult to find eva foam in the UK and when we can the price is always very high compared to the price that you have in the USA, have you got any idea why this is??? 😊😊😊
I am looking into materials to make a kayak hatch cover. Would the foam and airfoam clay standup to exposure to the sun and water?
I don't think so. Neither is waterproof on its own and would require a lot of sealing and protection.
good timing with me posting in the fb group on where to get stuff in the us. do you know the difference in the densitys of the tnt stuff? they have "degrees" listed as a description and i dont know if thats like a shore hardness or what
I'm not sure what the specific density is, I just know it's what I like from trying many different types of foam.
Thumbs up for Yaya!
Hi is there a site in the uk that sells all these products..really struggling to find one site that covers all! Thank you :)
We've heard good things about Poly-Prop's products in the UK: www.poly-props.com
Hey guys, could you advise me on the difference between Plastazote and EVA foam?
Plastazote has a different texture and structure and is usually somewhat transparent. I think Kamui Cosplay might have a video about it on her channel
I don't have any Power Tools like you do(Ex: Table Saw, Band Saw, etc.) Is there another method for removing the rigid surface on Foam Mats?
It can take a little while, but adhering some high grit sandpaper to a paint stir stick (something you can usually get for free from hardware stores like Home Depot) and using that to sand the back flat is an option.
+Punished Props Academy Will High-grit Sandpaper work on making Angles on foam? I tried cutting some myself, but didn't get clean cuts on the wider areas.
plus, I sliced my right thumb pretty good when sharpening my Box cutter knife blade.
Sandpaper can help with angles but the main work in creating an angle will come from the cut. A tool like this can help when cutting angles: amzn.to/2PNxi7o
What sharpening method are you using? The Kershaw sharpener shouldn't require much force to get a good edge and is generally pretty safe to use.
How do you go about deciding what thickness to use for the different parts of the armor you build?
It's a mix between what looks correct compared to any references we're trying to match and what works structurally.
Hey question-for those of us who can get access to those children's foam floor mats in crazy colours, would that be a viable option for starter builds?
It sure would!
i have a question :
i am working on a puppet and i was thinking of making its skeleton ( to keep it in shape ) out of EVA foam
what thickness would you advice or should i use something else for it ?
it ends up being a full arm dragon puppet ( with some of the puppet going over the shoulder and on my back )
so i would make the part that goes on my back with eva foam rings to give the body a more permanent shape and will be covered by fur
the part that goes over my arm will also have those rings but further apart / thinner so i can still bend my arm
sorta like the one tiny badger made with the blinking eyes but then only on 1 arm
I think foam would work great for that depending on how you structure it. If you do linked rings with supporting connectors, I think EVA foam would be a really successful option. Something close to 1/4" would probably work just fine.

Also Adam savage on the tested channel got to tour and make a Jim Henson muppet, if you go find that vid it could also give some inspiration.
The stuff at Harbor Freight says Neoprene on the package. What's that about?
I’m trying to make large yoga foam blocks... where can I get that material or the chemicals to make it? Looking to make 6” x 20” x 24” or larger blocks
Sorry I don't know anything about making foam
