I visited Quarr Abbey the other day and I saw a monk cooking chips. Are you a Fryer ? I quipped . No ! he replied I am a Chip Monk .....the old ones are not necessarily the best 🤪

The fruit came first. Before its import from Europe (Spain and Portugal) the colour was considered a shade of red. This is why Robins are known as "Redbrest" even though their feathers are clearly orange. When the fruit came along we took the name, naranja, anglicised it, then gradually things that colour were described with its name.

I really enjoyed this video. Thank you, Marek! The Pitt artists pens are great. And lemon marmalade sounds delicious. And the abbey was beautiful and Martin Simon is a silly. And you need a blue emoji. And in the 80s my primary school mate had short hair but a very, long, thin braid down his back.
That sounds like a bad hair cut. The worst is probably the rats tail you see on old men who are trying to preserve their long hair.

Oh blimey, we all immediately recognised the starting off point and end of your walk. We had a meal in The Sloop Inn before getting our Ferry on our last day. We had a carvery which was nice but their veggie option was questionable-I just got two extra yorkshire puddings. Haha!

Excellent taste in pens there, Graham! I have them in black and sepia and I think they're probably the best pens I've ever bought. I must have had the sepia ones for at least 15 years, and they're still going strong!
You have convinced me to get some of the sepia ones.

I've always assumed Quarr was pronounced as 'Cor' (ideally in the manner of Bernard Breslaw each time he saw Babs Windsor). I remember Graham from school days, good to see him after so many years! Well done for surviving a Martin Simon walk and not meeting any psychopathic cows.
Graham has spent all his years since school practicing Greensleeves on his guitar.

Cracking walk that one Marek. Nice to meet Graham too. Firestone Copse looks amazing. We're holidaying in St Helens again next year, so that'll be on our list of places to visit. I left School in 1987, so the Mullet hair cut was around then. I remember the 'Side-Burns' had to be trimmed to be above the ears. 😳 I seem to remember some lads used to have the back of their hair made curly. Never really understood that one. 😄 Quarr Abbey is beautiful. We try & go each time we come to the isle. We always use the Cafe, & always make a purchase in the shop as a sign of respect & gratefulness for free entry. That Sunglasses Marek is a nasty piece of work. Don't let him bully you. Tell him to 'Sod Off'. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😃👍 Take it easy Cool Dude. Love your channel.

Orange came from a Spanish word "naranja", which in itself, has its origins in Sanskrit. The colour orange was, subsequently named after the fruit.
Naranja has a much better sound. Maybe as its a bit like ‘Ninja’.
As always, lovely to see the outdoor painting! I might do some this weekend with the nice weather…
I think it is one of the most relaxing things you can do. Look forward to seeing what you paint cool dude.

The popular haircut for a while when I was at school was the 'wedge', sort of medium length hair undercut with a number 3 razor then cut in a bowl shape. I had it cos Nigel Jemson had one, playing for Nottingham Forest. What a time to be alive...

I would love to go at some point. Fingers crossed I will get some more members to fund bigger trips. The price of Air BnBs has gone through the roof.

Lots of trees on this walk. Never been to Quarr Abbey but looks worth a visit. Was at the sloop for dinner a couple of weeks back. Nice to see new Marek key-rings. Are there going to be any Christmas Marek.
There will be some more Xmas ones but unlike the shops they won’t be out for a couple of months.

My favourite place to chill with a coffee & the piggies🐷🐖. But I've not been to Firestone Copse so will put that on the list to do as the trees look amazing. Rod Stewart haircuts all round.✂ Made my boyfriend have one. Only Bananaman (love him💛) is allowed to slip on Banana skins. Never heard such a wonderful rendition of Greensleeves in my life.🎵 Loving the keyrings. In all the times I've been to the Abbey I have NEVER once bumped into a Monk (true). Where are they hiding? Are they really there?x J x
There was one in the bookshop serving. Maybe there is only one monk.

All the lads at school had curtain haircuts and most likely caused the hole in the ozone layer with over use of Lynx Africa 😂
Lynx must have made millions in the late eighties early nineties. My parents bought me an aftershave called ‘Mandate’ when I was about 12. I saved it for special occasions - school discos. I didn’t need to shave until I was about 17. Ha.

Haircuts when I was in school were all either juggalo or jersey shore style. Lol
Tiny little braids all over the head(but not in like the traditional way, like they call them spider dreads and they purposely try to make them look like spider legs) or a now classic long on one side short on the other, uhhh let's see...the pompadour was just coming back as I left school. The jersey shore hair is literally like, the 60s beehive but slightly smaller, usually with a head band or something and then long otherwise. One of my least favourite hair styles.

I believe that the colour orange was called that because it was the same colour as the fruit orange. So the fruit was called orange before the colour was called orange.

And apparently I do know the orange answer. Because an orange was invented by the Chinese. Cross of a mandarin and pomelo. So perhaps the colour orange was called mandarin. Then they invented the orange and decided not to call it a Manpom.
I will let you know when I do a Bushranger keyring. Ha. Imagine if someone else buys it first!

It looked like a very pleasant walk despite its dodgy origins. I asked our new Lord and Mistress ChatGPT which came first, the colour orange or the fruit. She says it's the fruit which has been cultivated for thousands of years, starting in S.E. Asia. Narenj was the word in Arabic, then pomme d'orenge in French...then one thing led to another.
Tell Graham to do his own research next time. Honestly!

I cut my hair short when I was 22 and it never grew back. I am still on my second pair of clippers in 25 years. Total haircut cost £40 (plus electricity)
The haircuts that were popular when I was at school was shoulder length long hair like the heavy metal rockers have, but my step dad hated it and said I looked like a girl, those were the rebellious days
