Just watched both seasons for the first time and I gotta say it was better than I thought it'd be. The show really hits it stride and finds itself after you get a few episodes in. The cast are all really good and despite a few hiccups here and there where Joey strays from key character traits (one time he's having a conversation right next to a plate stacked with sandwiches and doesn't even notice them), Matt LeBlanc still delivers some classic Joey moments. Sadly though, his signature "how you doin'?" is only spoken twice between the two seasons and is done so in more of an off-hand/side-note kinda way. Strange. But, all-in-all my impression after seeing it is the show really got an unfair shake. They moved on it too soon after Friends ended and people just weren't ready to see any of the characters go on without the rest of the group. From what I recall, Joey only mentions one of them (Chandler) by name one time, and rarely references the others. I feel like had they waited a few years and did the show with a bigger budget and had some of the Friends cameo once in a while it would've done much better. I've started a rewatch in these days just out of curiosity, cause I didn't remember much of it and it made me laugh more than once. It's really not so bad as people say and this one here is an unaired pilot, they changed the actress and I think she's much better and has a better chemistry with Matt Le Blanc (I think they even dated for a while).
This shit was garbage they turned Joey into a depressing goof ball who couldn’t get a girl to save his life yet on friends he literally got all the girls and was never depressed

I was expecting Chandler to pop up :( , LeBlanc was trying his best , but Joey is good only with his Friends , it's the chemistry that works for all the 6.

Realistically Joey wouldn't leave his friends. I think it was probably going to be a good series but that character in a different place wouldn't have worked
it's because the writers had to make last minute changes. This was actually option C. The initial plan for the spin off series was going to focus on Monica and Chandler raising their twins, and Joey was going to be on it too where he was struggling to find acting work so while he was out auditioning he was invited to stay with Chandler and Monica and help them. Both Matthew Perry and Courtney Cox declined the offer to return. So plan B was purposed where the spin off series would focus on Ross and Rachel and their daughter, and Joey again struggling with acting would come stay with Ross and Rachel and help them out while auditioning and trying to find work. Jennifer Aniston turned down the offer to return. Lisa Kudrow had already stated to the writers that had Friends continued another season they would have to write Phebe off; so Phebe wasn't even on the table for any appearances. It was than decided that instead of Joey going to live with Chandler/Monica or Ross/Rachel that he would go live with one of his sisters and help them. It was ok on paper until the show introduced a never before seen or mentioned sister; so there was no connection to the character or her family. And since Courtney, Lisa, Jennifer, and Matthew all refused to come back (focused on family and personal issues) the spin off show lost any potential Monica/Joey, Chandler/Joey, Phebe/Joey, and Rachel/Joey moments. David was also available but the Joey spin off never approached David to appear as Ross.
Is no one going to ask why Gina is a totally different person, she’s fricking blonde now and no one cares, he doesn’t even do “how you doin?” anymore! (Gina is Joey sister)
Its actually pretty funny but it has such a lonely feel to it.

It's so sad looking at joey had a bad day and his friends are not over there with him.
I know where's Chandler and Pheobe...its not the same but glad they did something with his character after friends.

You have to remember that this is an unaired pilot so the neighbour lady is played by different actress in the actual show.
