I was fortunate to know a kind, talented and beautiful young woman who migrated here from Michoacan. Being brought up here in the US I had no clue the extend of the 'why' she wanted to come here. We take safety for granted.
It was not always like this though. The situation in Mexico really took a hard turn around 2006 when Felipe Calderon declared War on the Cartels. The thought was to use the Military against drug gangs because they will be too weak to fight the Military. What Mexico didn't think through is the adaptation of these Cartels. They went from wearing cowboy hats and boots to Militarized killers. The Cartels adapted and with the vast amounts of money they generated, they can buy the best weapons available and recruit from an endless supply of men. Because prior to 2006, things were relatively calm. People fled because the US simply offered better jobs, not necessarily because of safety. I visited my family in Michoacan around 2001, everything was calm and peaceful. There were no Sicarios anywhere. We use to be out late at night, 1am 2am and not a single issue. There is no way in hell I would visit today though. It is way too dangerous, especially the part where my family is from.

Sorry, but this is false. I moved here from America a little under a year ago and it's been the absolute best decision I've ever made.
When you think "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" is a fictitious video game
Well Ghost Recon: Narcos
Instead of Bolivia
They're in Mexíco
@@cjvipinosa3328 did you know that the cartels came from Mexico
@@robertosierra8785 yeah that's why I said It should be set in Mexico and not Bolivia since the cartel originated in Mexico
@@robertosierra8785 cartels started in Columbia, the Mexican cartels use to buy their coke from Columbia then broke off and formed their own cartels producing their own cocaine
@@Chitown18 no Mexico are the pioneers of the cartel Mexico didint do cocaine at the time until Colombians came up with it, but Mexico did grew weed and poppy it was agricultural and a lifestyle in poor regions
I like how the cartels have their logo on their bullet proof vest so professional
It's more for other members don't confuse them for enemies
First time I’ve seen cjng on the media, Usually it’s Sinaloa
Exactly Vice did great job here.
CJNG is much more brutal than Sinaloa.
The commanders body was found decomposing on feb 6th.
That’s crazy, the disturbing photos he’s wearing the exact same bracelets as this interview. Similar watch too
🦀 🦀 🦀 rest in piss
Riding in the same car with someone who openly slanders the cartel.
I like the braveness
16:25 Damn VICE making these stressed-out guys think they're about to get bombed by the Jalisco cartel drones just to get a cool shot from above. My heart was racing watching this thinking they were about to get blown up.
My grandparents are currently in aguililla and they’re scared to go out it’s so bad
Aguililla has always been off limits, especially since it’s right next to Guerrero and Jalisco.
:(
Nicca bring them to the usa
Maybe you get to see them on bestgore.
@@clutch5011 that's fucked up
That question about 15 years from now hit different, when you see that he got murdered not long ago
The old vice making a comeback
Sending a reporter into the lion's den to interview the lion, that's badass Vice
That footage of a possible drone bomb drop was crazy. The cameraman sat there getting their reaction to his possible death.
More like "Sending a Sheep into the lion's den to interview the lion lmao
"Government can't be trusted". Same message is heard throughout the whole world
Im Mexican and have family members in Michoacan,it hurts seeing them suffer from organized crime. What he said at 18:11-18:33 sounds like the typical honest Michoacano, saying hes fed up and tired of having to carry a rifle with him for 7 years because the government doesn't do anything to protect them. Also his facial expression and personality are very similar to my family members in Michoacan LOL.
While you're watching this keep in mind that guns are banned in Mexico...
That’s what I thought too.
@@ffarmchicken not completely banned, but very difficult to qualify for. You need a permit, and in order to apply must have a good reason for needing a gun.
yeah and they buy guns from america
Ban for commonner can't protect themself
So cartel can get illegal gun and gain power easier
Thats why america being next door to mexico... is also bad for the innocent ppl of mexico who just want to go about their daily lives. A feel sorry for those ppl. Their living in a war zone - worse than Afghanistan or Iraq for that matter. Sad!
Imagine being forced to fight for a cause that you don't believe in. I feel so sad for that family.
*This war is really never ending, even when the cartel bosses makes peace, the captain, street solders, cops, army, will still fight each other for territory, greed, family members, dead innocent bystanders, betrayals, drug bust, or kidnapping the wrong people, so when there's peace, the infighting and wars will start all over again, especially when the cartel boss or captain dies and his crew, hates the new leader, someone too young, too inexperience, too weak, too greedy, or a complete psychopaths whos takes over, and half his crew switch sides and declares war.*
@Enrique X111 the war started way before Mexico, in 1910 with minorities being scape goats.
@Enrique X111 That's just flat out wrong.
@jason4275 Mexico should borrow a leaf from Switzerland. Freely dispense drugs to addicts with an option of free rehabilitation. To remove scarcity - which makes drug trafficking so lucrative - US and Mexican governments must decriminalize the use of and trade in drugs.
@@thomaskagwa9983 it’s not just drugs tho some don’t even deal in drugs at all they steal oil and gas or extort, rob sell other products such as avocados in Michoacán thatd help the situation but bigger cartels like Jalisco and Sinaloa would become exceedingly more violent as a way to cope with having lost the drug money and go into other crimes making Mexico even more violent
@peter pan NG Cartels. Not even a competition
I sincerely hope those indigenous people were able to stay safe. It hurts my heart to see hard working people that just want to be left alone and let their family life safe.
THIS GUY HAS SOME BALLS FOR ACTUALLY INTERVIEWING CARTELS ❤️
The sad part on this documentary, are the lack of actions by the stupid government of obrador
Corrupt leader as usual
So it is Obradors fault, 50 years of narco presidents and he is thee six months and it is his fault??? you are CRAZY!!!!
@@gerardorodas1854 obrador is just as useless as the rest...hundreds die everyday but don't worry about that because he planted an avocado tree or wtvr
@@Beachfossil39 Claro, y el vejete está haciendo mucho al respecto.
Finally an updated Vice on the narco wars! Been like 2-3 years. More of this content please.
major props to anyone fighting against the cartels. every country in the world would be sending armies to wipe them out and any other corruption/criminal organizations/gangs etc. The world is dark and we are advanced and conscious enough to end this BS
We aren't conscious enough, why, because people worship money, they always will. But in México it was never about worshiping money. It was about struggling from the ground to survive and raise your family. And unfortunately have to resort to this to put decent food on the table, take your kids to a fair, buy them decent shoes. I can tell you this from fact. My mom grew up in México and tells me how she used to not have shoes and some days would go without food only milk, slept on dirt floors. Yeah, it still goes on I see. The struggle couldn't be more fn real in USAs own backyard. VÍVAAA MÉXICO!! 💔🇲🇽💔🇲🇽
God bless Mexico and its beautiful people. I pray that you'll be able to live in peace soon🙏
Nah
It probably wont be in our lifetimes but maybe somewhere in the future
@@FREDDYHUNTER34isnotliquid69420 until the US legalizes drugs it won’t stop
@@worldhubtv6496 if the us legalizes drugs the cartels can legally push it and people can legally buy it, so they will probably get more people, and if your dum logic works they will result to trafficking peple so it will make it worse, the only way to end it is to have a war with them, and obliterate anyone that thinks of trying to start one, but meh what do I know, legalizing drugs will probably make our country better
@@FREDDYHUNTER34isnotliquid69420 legally push it In What way? If the US legalized drugs the cartels would be devastated and loose their power they rely on junkies buying drugs from them but if the junkies had another source to buy drugs boom problem solved and plus trafficking people doesn’t make money like drugs do so cartels wouldn’t have the money to pay off the government remember these cartels are only as big as the Mexican government wants them to be
The sad thing is that those that are protecting the people end up being the enemy too
