I like the fact that it does pick up your iron coin . { Vanquish ) in my country some of my coins are made out of full iron, so I would not want to discriminate my iron out. I like that it doesn`t have the built in battery which means I should be able to use my own rechargeable double AA batterys to power it up. Would like to know how well would it work on salt water beaches at low tide. The companys are makeing a big mistake by makeing detectors with built in batterys, if they made them to operate on doulble AA batterys I would think a lot more of us would want to buy them, & the dealers would sell more detectors. I have seen some very good detectors i would have loved to buy, but there is no way i want a built in battery operated detector.
Even though you're on the beach, switching modes on the simplex would have KILLED the vanquish. Great video. Thanks for being unbiased, as I own minelab products and Nokta as well.
Thanks for that i would go for the simplex because its full waterproof and cheaper but they are both good deep target finding machines ,i use a Nox now and its amazing
South Coast Detecting You switch from beach mode to park mode but keep the ground balance of beach mode. That way you are still in beach mode but you can now remove notching completely as park mode allows this. I don’t know if that made sense....
I'm happy with my simplex. Not used it on the beach yet, but going to do so in the next couple of days as I'm on holiday in scotland currently and have about it with me. The vanquish looks ok, but I'm not keen on the colour and shape, simply not my taste. Great vid arron, good comparison too. Thanks.
Good video. Appreciate the extra work you had to do for your viewers to test these units, instead of just going out and hunting and having fun. Interesting to know that a multi frequency detector has chatter on the beach and that how far a single frequency tech has come that it is not too chatty on the beach. Wonder if the Nox would chatter too,,, I guess if it is the same "core" tech as the Vanquish. Interesting, Thank you
Looking for my first machine. Am beginning to like the Nokta Simplex, mainly as I plan to do most of my detecting on various beaches on the south coast and in Cornwall. I also like the fact that it's fully waterproof and it's great value for money. My little lad also wants a machine now.
Good honest vid there Arron simplex for me down to specs how many times do we get caught out in the rain 🌧 in the U.K. and the battery life is superb mine only uses 2 bars on a full days dig 👍
I have the simplex and love it besides the pin pointer interference. I also bought the vanquish 340 for my son when he gets old enough to use it. lol. I can also use it for a friend. Thanks for the upload.
A lot of people are misrepresenting the price difference. With ease, you can get a 540 Pro Pack for $400 USD shipped. Checking about 10 dealers the cheapest quote I got on the Simplex with Wireless Headphones was $320 shipped. $80 difference gets you the useful 8" coil and Multi-IQ, and a machine that works the iron and trash a lot better than the SImplex. The only deep Simplex mode does terrible in the trash as far as recovery speed, Park mode loses a ton of depth. The Vanquish outshines it in most any dirt.
I use a vanquish 440 all over South Wales beaches in reliable jewellery mode full sensitivity on dry sand minus 2 notches on wet, very reliable, I use RNB custom 30hour battery very good, the rain cover for me works well in heavy rain never had a problem yet😬,love to See this verse the XP ORX on wet sand now that would be a great video, well done interesting video👍
Hi, I am undecided whether to go for the 440 or 540. I believe the 440 has a 10 inch coil and the 540 a 12 inch. I only do beaches and would like to know what size of coil you would recommend. A reply would be most appreciated.
@@billbannochie457 540 pro has 8 inch and 12 inch coil at moment LP metal detectors are offering a free 35 minelab pinpointer great deal 440 got 10 inch coil I prefer for beach and plenty of depth for me with less weight but it suits my beach yours might need more depth sand changes everyday from tides so for me 10s perfect
@@billbannochie457 great machine I was on land and in a river (the controls are not waterproof but coil and shaft is)with it today you won't beat it on the beach for the money so smooth great value all the best brother
@@shotokanman1 I have the AT Pro but it's not great on wet sand so I reckon the multi frequency is the way to go. The beach I go to has a fair bit of wet black sand so hoping the Vanquish will be able to handle it. Thanks again for your replies, most helpful.
Very fair and balanced video Arron. Always going to be difficult with these two particular machines as there are some pretty entrenched fans in both camps. I like them both and own both. As you know though I do prefer the Vanquish ;) You can't go wrong with either though. Simplex has a superb spec for the money and for a single frequency machine does well on the beach. I will be sticking with Minelab though.
Nicely done comparison, not showing any bias whatsoever. Your closing comments are also unbiased, pointing out the strength as well as deficiency of each machine. I own both the 600 & 800 Equinox, and if buying a backup I would go with the Simplex+ with wireless headphones. IMO, Minelab dropped the ball on this, and I believe that they could have put a rechargeable battery and waterproofed the unit. I’m not sure what they were thinking, but those two features are a game changer for me. The Vanquish took the latest multi frequency technology and put it in an archaic AA battery box that you can’t get wet...very bad move, IMO. But hey...I’m only the guy with disposable income looking for the best features my money can buy. I think this will bite them in the backside, as only rabid Minelab fan boys will choose Vanquish over Simplex is they are really doing their homework. It’s a pretty easy decision for me. Thanks for a great comparison video.
I'm not sure I totally agree. Although I bought the Simplex over the Vanquish because of it being waterproof and because it was already available, I definitely had my reservations about the rechargeable battery. The bottom line is that rechargeable batteries have a life of about 3-4 years. In another 3 years, we are going to be inundated with complaints from Simplex users yelling about how expensive it was to replace their rechargeable batteries after they died. For most of us, metal detectors are not like cell phones. When your cell phone battery dies, you are usually ready for a new phone anyway. When the battery dies on your metal detector, you will likely want to keep that detector (at least for a spare). Given that the Vanquish can also use standard rechargeable AA batteries, there is very little benefit to having an internal rechargeable battery that is not user serviceable. So given the choice, I'd rather have a detector that takes user supplied rechargeable batteries of the AA type. HOWEVER... there is a big issue when it comes to serviceable batteries and making something waterproof. It is definitely easier to waterproof a machine that uses a non-user serviceable battery. That's just the way it is. As a side note, I recently got back into detecting after being away for 6 years. I threw a 9V battery into my old Tesoro detector and it started right up with no issues. That is not something you will be able to do with a Simplex or any other metal detector with an internal non-user serviceable rechargeable battery.
@@mtslyh That is the pros and cons for what unit choice to pick from. You get this but, not that or not that but, get this! I chose Vanquish because it having multi frequency!.......I hunt primarily salt beaches. I would have picked Simplex otherwise! It's a good value for what it offers!
If your reason is that a rechargeable battery won't last thru 6 years of not being used, that is a lame argument.
For those who actually use their detectors, rechargeable batteries are a lot cheaper to use over time. And most are easily replaced if they go bad from 6 years of not being used.
@@halfstep67 You appear to have completely missed my point. You do realize that they make rechargeable AA batteries right? In fact, the Vanquish 540 comes with rechargeable batteries and a charger. So it is not a question of the cost of rechargeable vs alkaline batteries. It is a question of user-replaceable vs sending it to a dealer to have the battery changed should something go wrong. All I'm saying is that if all else was equal (and in this case all else is NOT equal) I would pick a detector where I can change the rechargeable batteries myself rather than having to send it in to a repair shop to change a battery. After all, batteries go bad all the time. LiPo batteries have lots of problems with heat, cold, and not caring for them correctly. And of course, any built in battery needs to have a battery charge connector which also tends to go bad with the constant plugging in and out. What happens when your special Simplex battery cable port goes bad? What is that going to cost to have fixed? And in case you still missed it... I bought the Simplex anyway because "not all else was equal". I simply don't think a built in non-user replaceable battery is a good thing. I understand why it is potentially a necessity on a waterproof machine (Garret has struggled with this), but it is a necessary evil in my book.
The Minelab equinox's battery can be replaced by the user and is not hard to do. The charging port is magnetic and seems to be reliable but the contacts need to be cared for. The CTX 3030 has a battery that is removable and if precautions are not followed, water can get in and damage the electronics. I have both the CTX 3030 and equinox 800 and I can see advantages to both battery systems. I can leave the CTX in the truck and just remove the battery. This makes it nice. I don't have to lug the detector back and forth from the truck to the house. But I also like the carefree battery on the equinox and don't have to worry as much about leaks. But I have to lug it back and forth from the truck to the house.
I like most guys have a lot of battery powered tools. I have some Bosch 18v tools with a wireless charger. I just sit the battery on the charger and it charges the battery. Some smart phones have wireless charging capabilities as well. I believe that wireless charging would be the best system for the detector. It would eliminate the charging port and reduce any leaking possibilities. I am surprised it hasn't been done yet.
Of the two machines the simplex is less expensive at least in the U.S. so for me the Simplex would get the nod although I admit I like the tones on the vanquish better.
Greatest channel 👍👍👍 keep going bro , we watch your amazing videos from jordan middle east , ancient roman civilization were here in jordan and alot of ppl found amazing roman treasures , may i ask you bro , the depth of target depending by the amount of gold or coin , for example the depth between jar of coin and one coin has different depths right ?! Arron great video mate, Both machines preformed very well cant argue with that but Simplex would win for me as its the fully waterproof one and like you say the vanquish just a little bit garrett esk. Great review mate nothing really between them in working mode ATB ... Dave
I wouldn't go as far as saying "The only thing sets the simplex apart from the vanquish is just waterproof" the firmware is upgradable the minelab is not. You do such a fine job on the comparison videos, detailed information, on site demonstrations, just brilliant, what no one seems to mention though is "While your detecting with the Vanquish, how do we know people are not thinking you tore out a stop sign and swinging it? J/K" Like you I got them both and just can't wait to get out, I tried the simplex a couple of times and the real only beef I had or mini gripe is I wish the lower shaft was just a bit longer say four inches, I mean its plenty long now but extended out full it becomes a bit wobbly and having more of the shaft in makes it more stationary. If you have a chance to hunt an area that has terrible emi that you have hunted before and had problems with other machines, try the simplex, that machine did so good in places I had major problems with higher end models, that really surprised me. Thanks for the show and advice, well taken.
Just watched the video again, and you mention that both machines are chatty on the beach. So if that is the case I bet the vanquish will be just as bad on Leysdown beach as the Simplex. So will give the Simplex a bit longer and see how I get on with it after another month. I must admit I do like it, because it is waterproof, and I have rechargable batterys. I have fitted a bluetooth sender to it, so I use earbuds which are so much better that a wired headset. I don't think I could ever go back to a wired headset again. All the best Arron and keep up the videos. Nubsey aka Nigel
Too be honest, they are two many metal detectors no days ,best option is get one you like ,don't let any one change your mind,if it don't do what you like ,get a upgrade,
If you put the Vanquish into a better mode for depth, you should have done the same for the Simplex. Just ground balance in beach mode and switch to field mode.
It has beach mode, the test was done on a beach, if a newbie were to buy this they would instinctively be running it in beach mode. So this is why the test was done in beach mode.
Hey SCD, if a newbie is dumb enough to only use beach mode on the simplex wouldnt said newbie be so dumb as to not use a vanquish at the beach because it does not have a beach mode?
Fantastic video mate and very well done, for me it has to be Simplex all day long I really don't like the look of the Vanquish and I wouldn't pay that much for it.
I was deciding between these two too, but in another test simplex was worse than VAN 540 and VAN 540 have 3 years guarantee, simplex only 2 in my country but yeah price difference is relative big in Czech 260 VS 380 £ but set VAN 540 including Minelab PRO-FIND 20 too per 85£ then the price is practically the same and that's maybe a reason why is their usefulness practically identical :) greetings form CZ
The difference comes at 0.0 ground balance at soaking wet sand on small to medium size gold. Test that and the difference will be a dramatic between the 2.
Very good comparison! I was leaning towards a vanquish for my son because the simplex has a lot of interference with a pinpointer but now I’m not so sure! I have a Nox 800 and would like to hunt in water so my son would need the simplex for that!! Thanks for the info! HH🎧⛏
Do buy the Simplex. You will be astonished of the build quality this has! With a lot of other settings, the Simplex also has 3 different frequency choices to eliminate the pin pointer chit-chat. Good luck! Also, the battery lasts a long time.
The simplex is way too noisy on wet sand compared to the vanquish and the vanquish is multi IQ so I think I'm going with that. Yes it's not fully waterproof but I'd rather have more accuracy than with that noisy ass simplex.
I felt that was a very fair test between the Vanquish and the Simplex Aaron. Both machines seem fairly even. But I think I still prefer the Simplex over the Vanquish. Just personal preference. And the fact that it's waterproof to 10 feet it rains a lot here in Arkansas. Enjoy the video Aaron keep it up and keep up the beach videos I love the beach very much so. Toodaloo!
Hello, Sorry for my english but I'm french. For my first détector, on the normandy's beach, the best is the simplex or vanquish 440. tanks. good videos.

yes it is, I know this. But as it has a beach mode I wanted to see how good the beach mode was on the beach and it worked well. When I hunt with it I use field mode on the beach after a beach mode ground balance.
@@SouthCoastDetecting I know, it is just that you tweaked the other detector to relic mode as it was deeper (one one of the comparison depths) Perhaps field mode would have chattered, perhaps not...
I have read most of the comments. So I would like to hear from you. Which one do you prefer handling all day?. Also is the vanquished upgradable to Internet no one else has mentioned this I know the simplex is. Possible software corrections in the future and having Bluetooth headset definitely a plus. Do not own either of them but doing my research on the simplex what is your take.
NS has listened to the hobbyists...and did not rush it to the market half ass...sales have been stupendous and believe White's..Garretts..will rethink their pricing and value seriously...have watched many a comparison and all have declared NS the better buy...
The simplex looks like nokta makro was highly inspired by the minelab equinox😅✌ Now they have a very good machine for a unrivaled price. This machine is really impressive. I cant understand why minelab wants to compete with garretts ace model series?! Minelab should do detektors in the same style like the equinox, sure even more simple but that way. Now it's doing nokta makro instead of minelab🤷🏻♂️😅✌ I have the equinox 800 😉

Great video on the comparison of the two machines they seem very equal . the only thing that will make the difference between the two as you picked up on is build quality and the price tag. my opinion i aint no expert i think both machines do well but the simplex may have the edge just due to quality and price. great vid Keep them coming ATB GL & HH

I've got the Simplex gunna hit the beach in the summer very good video learnt something there cheers Arron top man 👍🏼👍🏼
Even though you're on the beach, switching modes on the simplex would have KILLED the vanquish. Great video. Thanks for being unbiased, as I own minelab products and Nokta as well.
Thanks for the comparison video......I would choose the Vanquish for use here in New York,USA
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
As a simplex user I would stick with what I have but the minelab is also a great machine great video 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for that i would go for the simplex because its full waterproof and cheaper but they are both good deep target finding machines ,i use a Nox now and its amazing
If you take the notch off on beach mode you will get slightly more depth on the Simplex. Great video, thanks for posting!
Can’t sadly the beach mode notch is stuck... on mine anyway. It might be different in latest update
Thanks.
Can you share the result after hunting on tbe beach here...glad to wait your result here hehehe
Interesting, Thank you
Good work mate ...... bugger that minelab bit over priced
Vanquish 440 would have been a fairer test. Bear in mind the 440 only has a 10" coil but is probably the direct rival to the Simplex price wise.
Looking for my first machine. Am beginning to like the Nokta Simplex, mainly as I plan to do most of my detecting on various beaches on the south coast and in Cornwall. I also like the fact that it's fully waterproof and it's great value for money. My little lad also wants a machine now.
Ya not a bad comparison tho I’d always favour the Minelab for wet sand hunts but the build quality seems better for the simplex
Is it time to realize minelab is awesome, but far over priced😓
Thanks, this helped me to decide for sure on the Simplex!
I am also thinking about buying it. Are you happy with your choice?
Very much so. Good machine, and unless you are a professional detectorist, will serve the average person extremely well.
@@fredrickhardyway Thanks, now I have mine now too :) Now I'm waiting for the snow to melt.
Good honest vid there Arron simplex for me down to specs how many times do we get caught out in the rain 🌧 in the U.K. and the battery life is superb mine only uses 2 bars on a full days dig 👍
just wanted to know as the tests were identical,,,do they work the same in SALT WET,,,,rgds ,,and thank you for your tests
I have the simplex and love it besides the pin pointer interference. I also bought the vanquish 340 for my son when he gets old enough to use it. lol. I can also use it for a friend. Thanks for the upload.
Change the frequency on the Simplex, it worked for my carrott!
Not in the UK you can't lol 😂
@@shotokanman1 really appreciate your feedback, I will go for the 440 I think.
@@billbannochie457 great machine I was on land and in a river (the controls are not waterproof but coil and shaft is)with it today you won't beat it on the beach for the money so smooth great value all the best brother
@@shotokanman1
I have the AT Pro but it's not great on wet sand so I reckon the multi frequency is the way to go. The beach I go to has a fair bit of wet black sand so hoping the Vanquish will be able to handle it. Thanks again for your replies, most helpful.
I have both these machines and they are similar , but if you want build quality . Nokta is it .
Nice job! I will surely check out the Simplex now. less expensive seems a better choice on this.
I just ordered a Simplex ONLY because of the internal battery.
If the Vanquish had it, I would have picked it, easily.
Of the two machines the simplex is less expensive at least in the U.S. so for me the Simplex would get the nod although I admit I like the tones on the vanquish better.
Great video and vanquish all the way for me although simplex is good for its price
Greatest channel 👍👍👍
keep going bro , we watch your amazing videos from jordan middle east , ancient roman civilization were here in jordan and alot of ppl found amazing roman treasures , may i ask you bro , the depth of target depending by the amount of gold or coin , for example the depth between jar of coin and one coin has different depths right ?! Sorry for the English, i hope you understand me
Thanks 🌷
The nokta has a built-in battery which is a. Big negative for me what happened if the nokta runs out of juice in the middle of nowhere???
Arron great video mate, Both machines preformed very well cant argue with that but Simplex would win for me as its the fully waterproof one and like you say the vanquish just a little bit garrett esk. Great review mate nothing really between them in working mode ATB ... Dave
Simplex without a doubt. I need a waterproof detector. As a matter of fact I ordered mine yesterday. Should have it by the 22nd of April.
I have a simplex and I love it because it has different tones when you switch modes also hits very deep targets 👌🏽. 🤓
We got the simplex and will use it soon..
Like you I got them both and just can't wait to get out, I tried the simplex a couple of times and the real only beef I had or mini gripe is I wish the lower shaft was just a bit longer say four inches, I mean its plenty long now but extended out full it becomes a bit wobbly and having more of the shaft in makes it more stationary.
If you have a chance to hunt an area that has terrible emi that you have hunted before and had problems with other machines, try the simplex, that machine did so good in places I had major problems with higher end models, that really surprised me.
Thanks for the show and advice, well taken.
Diggin Diggen It the minelab is upgradable, you can update it
@@melappleyard2223 Tks Mel I had no idea the firmware could be updated on the Vanquish.
Yes if you take the battery cover off, there’s a USB port at the top of the battery compartment
Love the vid too mate
Thanks! It will have to be the less expensive machine for me!!
Great review of 2 great machines arron mate. Would of liked to have see you take them both to 14 inches 🤔. Take care buddy 👍
Hi which one is better? Legend or vanquish 540?
I like the tones on the Minelab a little more, but I would choose the Simplex for the waterproofing
The string is such a good idea!!
That intro is badass I had to get up and start dancing.
HH🎧⛏
Depending on the pinpointer, you could possibly change frequency so as to not interfere with the machine. My F-Pulse can do this handily.
I have the Vanquish 440 and the Simplex+ both are quit capable of detecting deep target. I don't have a preference.
Toodaloo!
Great video mate. If I buy a backup I'll be getting a vanquish 👌 both machines look awesome though
Hello,
Sorry for my english but I'm french. For my first détector, on the normandy's beach, the best is the simplex or vanquish 440. tanks. good videos.
I know for sure which one I’m buying now. Thanks👍
Hi Arron , a very interesting comparison pretty much well matched i would say it's just down to how much you want to pay , enjoyed it mate nice one ATB GL & HH Rob .
Field mode is deepest on the Simplex!
yes it is, I know this.
Nice comparison vid Aaron.👍
I have read most of the comments. So I would like to hear from you. Which one do you prefer handling all day?. Also is the vanquished upgradable to Internet no one else has mentioned this I know the simplex is. Possible software corrections in the future and having Bluetooth headset definitely a plus. Do not own either of them but doing my research on the simplex what is your take.
The Vanquish has a computer connection inside the battery compartment for upgrade downloads.
Very good and very fare challenge between both detectors. Thanks for doing this video, enjoyed my visit. H.H. My friend.
NS has listened to the hobbyists...and did not rush it to the market half ass...sales have been stupendous and believe White's..Garretts..will rethink their pricing and value seriously...have watched many a comparison and all have declared NS the better buy...
Got the vanquish 540 for AUD $479 inc postage. So around 250 quid
The simplex looks like nokta makro was highly inspired by the minelab equinox😅✌
Now they have a very good machine for a unrivaled price. This machine is really impressive.
I cant understand why minelab wants to compete with garretts ace model series?! Minelab should do detektors in the same style like the equinox, sure even more simple but that way.
Now it's doing nokta makro instead of minelab🤷🏻♂️😅✌
I have the equinox 800 😉
Great video and very well explained between both machines 👍
Not going to mention Multi IQ when comparing prices?
Just bought a simplex Pro kit fantastic bit of kit
Здравствуйте можно узнать кто победил Симплекс или Вангвиш 540 ?
Simplex the problem is chatter on beach mode that im not how to differention on the sound...but i still get a good item...so far silver ring i get it...
I would like to know what the readings are when you perform test. I am a newbie and readings are helpful for us. Thanks for the great videos .
The simplex can also be updated through a computer. Not mentioned.
