It was duel race #2 because yes harvick did touch the 48 causing a 8 car crash… but then 2 days later admitted he lifted off the accelerator so he didn’t get to far in front of the cars right behind him and that’s how harvick got into him. My favorite. I can’t remember the year. It was maybe mid 2000s billy roe was on the bubble during Indy 500 qualifying. Bump day I believe. Billy roe was like 212 speed. Withdraw his time to go 213. Says he can go 214 but that’s all his car has. Oriel servia and his team go out to qualify.. laps fast enough to get in. Waved off. But why? He was 220+ hmm? Servia and his team thought it was pole day and wanted the pole. When they found out it wasn’t pole day, they tried to get the car back in the qualifying line… AFTER the gun went off and uh no once the gun goes off, no more qualifying attempts. Alex tagliani dancing around like a fool during 2009 bump day qualifying while the bubble speed was getting faster and faster, cars that were safe had to go out to go faster. Tagliani didn’t pay attention and got to his car too late and couldn’t bump his way in. Convinced another driver to give up a seat who made the race only to miss the drivers meeting because since he failed to qualify, figured the other driver had to be in the driver meeting since that guy made it… no Alex, you got a seat so you need to be in the drivers meeting…
The year Paul Tracey failed to qualify for the Indy 500 when he withdrew his time when in reality, nobody beat him.. so why did he withdraw his time? I’m still baffled by that idea. Sebastian saavedra was in the hospital for an injury and due to people withdrawing their time, he actually made the race.. he was in pain but grinning like a fool knowing he wasn’t fast enough yet made it anyway. Sarah fisher and her team had no idea a guy laying in a hospital bed was out thinking them by doing nothing. Great job Sarah.. if you don’t withdraw your time and Tracey, both make the Indy 500 that year.. why ? Sebastian wasn’t at the track at the time but was playing chess to those guys playing checkers
