    I miss the old restrictor plate noises both what you hear on the onboard cameras and them whistling by, time to bring back the dual exhaust pipes. I can actually make the droning noise, and the whistle noise because I have the two bicuspid gap in my teeth and if I move my mouth completely horizontally and force a huge amount of air it makes that noise. My Mom love it when we watch the old races. Forget 8800 RPM's bring back the 7200 RPM's.

    I was at this race. My dad got me into NASCAR and we went together. Our first live race. He was in his Dale Jr. gear and I in my Gordon gear. It was so loud and exciting. Yeah, the ending was anti-climatic. I remember the confusion at the end. No one could hear the announcement at first. Then the crowd went nuts. I literally was waiting to get clocked in the back of the head/my Gordon cap. We ended up waiting to watch the victory lane celebration while most people left the stands.
    I get that Jr. fans were upset. He had the dominate car all day but he also had issues with people not wanting to work with him. Can’t blame them. He even dumped Michael a couple of times, got out in front by himself then would get overtaken by others. It was a pattern. Gordon ran top 10 all day. It’s not like he had a crap car. If that last caution hadn’t come out, there’s really no way of knowing who would win. Sure, Jr.’s odds were high but there were several other cars up front that could just as easily made the right moves to get the win. I’m pretty sure most of them were not interested in just helping Jr. win another restriction plate race. Harvick could certainly have won that race. Maybe Johnson. If they had gone green white checkered, there most likely would’ve been a massive wreck with everyone trying to make a move at the same time. That could’ve taken out the best cars of the day and the winner could’ve been someone who hadn’t been up front all day. A win of attrition.
    Like I said, I get that Jr. fans were upset but throwing debris on the track and at Gordon’s car was childish and inexcusable. If Jr. had won, I can’t see Gordon fans, Harvick fans, or anyone else’s fans doing the same thing to the 8 car. Jr. showed class after the race but his fans did not.

  • @remaster1981
    @remaster1981 9 лет назад +52

    That ending was some serious bullshit. Yes i'm a Jr. fan...i'm not mad that jeff won, i'm pissed at how the ending was handled. Running 4 laps of caution at this track??? For what exactly??? Running out that race under caution and not even trying to finish under green is why the fans were so pissed off....and they had every right to be.

    • @DaleReynolds
      @DaleReynolds 8 лет назад +10

      +remaster1981 As a 13 year old Gordon fan at the time who was thrilled that finally DEI got beat at a plate track, I can agree. They had 4 full laps to sort things out. In today's world, that would be more than enough time to red flag the field, clean the wreck, organize the field, open the pits and then finish in G-W-C.
      But then again back in 2004 when they started implementing all the freezing the field and everything, it was terrible. I remember a Dover race where they ran like 40 laps under caution (I remember Matt Kenseth's interview, he was pissed) and I was at the 2004 Pocono 500 where they ran like 50 of 200 laps under caution. NASCAR did not have their s**t together during this time period when it came to organizing the field and late race cautions.

      It was the right call like it or not Junior didn't get up the speed good anyway so if they would have went back early and he would have finished fourth or fifth Tony Stewart turn around going backwards then the fans was throwing beer cans on racing surface start with four laps to go there was just a crap load of debris out there that you did not see I was at the race there was not going to just throw the green flag with one left to go at a restrictor plate track that wouldn't even be a fair finish for people cuz some cars come to speed faster than others I think you're being a little biased being a jr fan

    • @lewisgriffin9684
      @lewisgriffin9684 5 лет назад

      @@EJCatoz actually it was the right call with all the debris and the track and Tony Stewart bowling backwards there was no way they could get the race restarted other than going green with one left to go and that would not have been Fair add a restrictor plate track I think you was just mad cuz you were Junior fan this is what started the whole green-white-checkered debacle we have nowadays cuz people overreacting green-white-checkered sucks they need to do away with this two laps shootout is not how you determine a winner they said that they're at least write five laps what they should do for their overtime as do five laps one try at it if someone wrecks the race is over if it's a short tracks do 8 to 10 laps if roles were reversed you know you would have been jumping up and down that Jr won the race and you were not I've been saying it was bulshit NASCAR pretty much give Dale jr. Excuse If Im mistaken but I think Jr. won this race 6 times in his career. 5 with DEI & one with Hendrick. He could've won this race at least 10 times. Easily could've won this race 2 more times at DEI the EA sports running of this in 2003 when Michael Waltrip finished 1st & Jr. 2nd breaking his streak of 4 in a row... That would've been 5 in a row If Michael would've got the hell out of the way. That always pissed me off... Then this race right here would've been 6 wins at Talladega as Jr. did have the faster car over Gordon & If It did go back to green Jr. most likely wins. So thats 6 wins he could've had here at Talladega under DEI.
    Then moving to Hendrick I believe he won this race once in 2010 if im not mistaken, correct me if im wrong. I could have the yr wrong but I think he only won this race once with Hendrick. But if you go back & watch him race this track from like 2010-2015 he would always be pushing Jimmie Johnson which always angered me when at that time this was one of the few race tracks that Jr. still ran well at. Jimmie was winning every where why they couldn't of had Jimmie pushing Jr. in those races I will never understand. But if they had made more of an effort to have Jr. win Talladega at Hendrick he could've came really close to winning this race 10 times like his father did.

      Yes it could've been finished under Green. NASCAR officials just decided it was best to FUCK OVER THE FANS that day just like they did in the Fall Race in 2015

      I’ve never tolerated fans throwing trash onto the race track. If you throw trash onto the track you get arrested and banned for life no matter how anyone feels about the outcome.

      There was more than enough time to get at least 3 laps of green at the end there. That yellow came out with 6 or 7 to go if I remember correctly.

      Get over it. If Earnhardt jr fans hadnt thrown their cans, they would have had a green white checkered, and the officials say the track isnt clear because of debris still on the track and it is BUDWEISER Beer cans !!!!!!!

    Let's be honest... do you guys REALLY believe that the crowd wouldve showered the track had Jr. been tabbed as the leader? NASCAR completely botched the end of this race no matter what side of the fence you're on, but it's not why the fans were pissed.

    It's crazy seeing everyone saying "Jr should've won this race." "Jr got screwed." From my understanding, back then, they froze the field when the caution came out. Every clip showed JG was winning when the caution came out. So no, Jr did not get screwed. Also, to everyone who said "If it was green Jr would've won." That's not a fact. Jeff got a really good push from Harvick. Even so, if it was green who knows who would've won. They could've both spun out. Jr could have won. Jeff still could have won. My point is, we'll never know so don't act like it's a matter of fact because it's not. It's Talladega. Anything can happen.

    • @nascaronly9801

      I would also like to add that I have no ill will towards Jr or JG. I love both of them. I'm one of the very rare JG and Jr fans. And yes, the racing ending under caution suuuuuccckkkkss.

    This race summed up my hatred for Jeff Gordon. I remember being pretty irate when Gordon won because I've always been an Earnhardt fan. Now with Gordon having a chance at title 5 this weekend, it honestly feels weird to be pulling for him because during his prime my dad, grandpap, and I all hated him throughly. The Red Flag Rule was by far one of the dumbest rules they ever had.

    NASCAR decided Jeff was the winner based on scoring loops and video tape. Next thing you know, lots of Dale Jr. fans threw bottles, cans, whatever they could at Jeff's car. Of course, Mike Joy was pissed and with good reason. Doing things like that is just stupid and somewhat dangerous.

      Guess what, 2007 the fans trashed the race track again after Jeff Gordon broke his tie with Dale Earnhardt of 76 wins with 77 wins. Bob Jenkins called those tossing trash onto the race track "race idiots". Same thing in 2004 and 2007. But they didn't care.
