  • Little different video today - this is review #1 of two this week. Today I focus on the vise I use to tie all my jigs as well as look back over the vises I've used previously, giving you an honest assessment of each type and model. I hope you find it both enjoyable to watch and helpful!

    Nice review Adam! My one and only so far is the Griffin Odyssey u mentioned (a long time ago, u had that one as a recommendation in ur comments)… been very happy with it, solid clamps, all metal, very sturdy, easy to pack along on trips. Always solid info from you!! Thx again

    Awesome video and review. Really helpful in me making a decision about a vise. Like I said I like quality when I purchase a tool, gun, fishing tackle or whatever. I have always been this way. I may not use it that much but I just enjoy looking at things like this that I have and know it’s quality equipment. I’m so glad I found your channel. Thanks brother for sharing.

    Good review. The renzetti saltwater traveler was one of the two vises I narrowed my decision down to choose from. I ultimately decided on the Peak vise and I couldn’t be any happier with my decision. Yes Peak has saltwater jaws which will handle the larger hooks you can get as well as many other options.

    since it's just for ME and I only make a few to use myself ---Amazon...Colorado Anglers 2001 EZ Rotary VIse ...$64.99 (2022 newbee rookie Bass & crappie Jig Tier upper) bought this one because the reviews were mostly 4 star and said it holds a 5/0 hook just fine & tight for the 1/2oz Jigs I like to use .... rotates nicely on the axis too ... I clamp mine to the bench , turn on my Ipad to SDG and learn from the MASTER JIG'R maker upper Guy 😎🤣 keep on sharing the Luv with your Informative videos & awesome talent

    I bought a Renzetti SW traveler based on your review. It is a great vice , I did make a few up grades though . Ordered some Brass 10/32 x 3/4" thumb screws of of E Bay shortened thelm down to 3/8 of an inch and tapered the ends with a small file .NOW it really is a great vice . The brass thumb screws should have been used at the start not that much more cost involved . Thanks for your review : Ronnie Voges

    I started with the option 1. I got frustrated trying to get it to adjust to a bigger hook and bent the arm that tightens the clamp. I upgraded to option 2 but it was from sportsman’s warehouse. I never had a problem with any grease though. Currently I’m waiting on another one of the cheapos from Amazon. It’s a travel kit that includes all the tying tools. I should have listened to my wife and just packed my tying stuff to bring on this deployment.

      Thanks Andre, appreciate the question and the support man! I use the C-Clamp option from Renzetti. My desk has a “lip” just big enough to secure the vise so it works out quite nicely for me. I’ve also used a pedestal but found it moved around a bit too much for my liking, and it was higher on the desk. C-Clamp for me! Thx again man!

    Question is do you need the rotary for your flies. Being able to rotate the fly is more important just to see the other sides of the fly but using the rotary to put on material hardly

    Can you suggest a rotary vice for tying small jig sizes from size 16 to about size 8 jigs?

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад

      I’ve been so impressed with the Renzetti I have one have to say if I was in the market for another vise to tie smaller stuff it would be another Traveler (the “standard” size vs the Saltwater that comes with jaws that handle the larger hooks. For the price, performance, and quality, they are hard to beat. Anything from Renzetti is going to be too notch!

    Adam I feel like a moron asking but what is the use for the wire bent at a 90 coming off the shaft of the renzetti?

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад

      No problem at all man, great question! That’s called a “bobbin cradle”. It allows you to hang the bobbin off the black part at the end/on top of the wire form, then use the rotary to apply your materials.
