      I’m confident you will enjoy their line of equipment - they’ve been a joy to deal with and their products continue to perform very well for me! Here’s a link to the N2 single injector I use (8oz option for me) on Barlows: barlowstackle.com/n2-plastic-injectors/?afmc=6l. If you’re after a dual you can find them on Barlows as well. Let me know what you think once you have a chance to use their stuff for a while!

    Awesome review. Question- I'm just now assembling my shipping list to get into soft plastic bait making. What size single injector would you recommend? I'm not planning to shoot massively large or many-cavity molds- Maybe 5 to 10 cavity ~4 inch baits at max. But its tough to quantify that into oz ya know. Thanks

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад +1

      Hey man, thanks for the feedback and the question, it’s a good one! I imagine you’ll hear the same answer from most every plastic maker… “get the biggest you can afford and/or feel comfortable using”.
      I started with 4oz injectors and quickly found it frustrating as they are, essentially, “1 mold” injectors. If you’re like everyone else, you’ll find that you enjoy the hobby and want to amass more molds… which leads to the joy of shooting them all (or at least a bunch of them) all at the same same :). Indeed… there is great satisfaction in a single draw that makes a slew of baits.
      So… as a baseline, unless you’re planning to buy single cavity stuff (which you mentioned wasn’t the plan), I wouldn’t go lower than a 6oz single. I, personally, use an 8oz single and it’s awesome (which would be my recommendation). That should be sufficient to shoot 2 multi cavity 4” baits, no problem. You can go as big as 10oz or even 12… but man oh man… those are getting really up there. Hope this helps!!

      @@SDGCustomLurecraft Awesome. Thank you, that helps immensely. Honestly I really appreciate the insight. In that case I think I'll set aside some budget for a quality 8oz, then maybe a 6oz dual injector setup down the line... Love the vids, you've been a huge inspiration- first with tying, then in messing with modifying some of my own lead molds, and now you're solely responsible for getting a leadhead like me into making soft plastics lol. Thanks again man

      @@d.edwardmanders4496 oh man! My apologies up front to your wallet 😳🤪! So glad to hear you’ve enjoyed the content! And, that setup with a 8 single and 6 dual sounds great! When the time comes you could also, an an alternative, just get another 8oz single, then pickup the dual “kit” to combine them when you want to shoot laminates. It definitely is more convenient to have a dual ready to roll any time, but it would save you $100 or so by just adding 1 more plus the kit, if that was of interest. Either way, you’ll be good to go!!
      Love N2 stuff. Ron actually took some of my recommendations from this video (specifically, lengthening the rods) and implemented them. So, all the new units have long enough rods that they extend beyond the tube and make for easy access to the seals as well as cleaning. 👍👍
      Thanks again man! All the best on your soft plastic journey!!

      Thanks for the support! If you’re not sure if it’s something you want to do I’d go with a Do-It injector as it’s a low price-point and will give you a feel for it. Just be careful as they don’t have locking pins and can be dangerous if you don’t pay attention. Look for one on the used market, should be plenty out there as most everyone that finds they like the hobby moves on from Do-It. Thanks again man!

    Thanks for all the info I really don't know what size to order. At present time I am only planning to shoot my own baits. Will have to get pretty good before I think about selling baits. So that being said do you think the 4 oz injectors would be better for me. Please let me know what you think

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад

      Hey man, thanks for the question! A 4oz is a great place to start, especially if it’s just baits for yourself and you think you’ll shoot a bunch of single cavity molds (Do-It stuff, etc). The larger injectors are great, don’t get me wrong, but where they shine are with higher capacity molds. I’m guessing that wouldn’t be you (yet… LOL! Once you start the hobby games on a life of its own!!) so a 4oz makes sense… put the money you saved towards molds/supplies. All that said… don’t be surprised if (when) you want to go bigger! It happens to all of us!

    Iv been looking a new dual, my current one from another company just ain't cutting it no more, my main issue I'm looking at this one is where the piston stops like you mentioned. I'm used to oiling my o-ring by pushing the piston out running a little oil around the ring and pulling it back in. Just curious how you oil it while running baits. It's honestly a toss up between the basstackle and this one for me. I like this more slick design over the basstackle but just unsure about the piston stroke.

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  2 года назад

      Hey man, thanks for the feedback and question. I’ve got an answer and some good news for you. The answer is I oil the o-rings via the lock pin slot. I line it up and put a few drops on the “exposed” o-ring, then let it drain down and around. The good news is, after seeing this review, Ron, the owner of N2, made the decision to lengthen the rods on all the new units so they extend beyond the tubes even when using as a dual. They always did as a single, but the dual “bar” limited the range. With the extra length, that issue should be resolved.
      So yeah, even with the shorter rods, LOVE the unit and my 8oz singles. Super pleased with everything. But with the longer rods, these, IMO, are a home run.
      Hope this helps!

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  Месяц назад

      @@piratefueljim that’s correct. The locking pin ends pop off and the back unscrews so you can run a round brush all the way through each tube. After seeing this video they extended the rods lengths to accommodate better access and cleaning. 👍👍

    Curious if N2 knew you were doing a RUclips "review" of their product? Interesting that the "poor lowly" DoIt injector rated as well as it did and for nearly 1/2 the price.

    • @SDGCustomLurecraft
      @SDGCustomLurecraft  3 года назад

      Yup, N2 was aware as I reached out to the owner prior to filming to ask some “interview” questions. In that email I let them know I was doing the review. After the video was put together, I also sent them a link to double-check that I hadn’t misrepresented any of our discussions - especially if guys start reaching out to get replacement pistons etc. So yup, they were aware! Regarding Do-It, I can only share my personal experience. If a bait maker wants to go the Do-It route and save some money, by all means!! For me, the added capacity, features, and safety (locking pins) were well worth the money (and would have been had I decided to go with BassTackle or another provider). Each to their own! Appreciate the feedback!

      @@SDGCustomLurecraft Hey thanks for the response. It's interesting how much for lack of better words "hate" I see for DoIt at times and for no real reason (not that you were hating on them). Most people getting started don't need a $300 injector when a $160 one will work fine. My DoIt is over 10 years old, shot more plastic than I can count and is still on the same o-rings. Live within yours means and the right tool for the right job!
