I learned how to do the bass register (kuragaya) from a friend many years ago, it took me a couple weeks to learn. Because I was a smoker at the time, every time I'd catch on the first tone I'd cough for like two minutes. Eventually I got the overtones though, and then coughed for two minutes every time lol. My throat was conditioned after a few days though, it feels really cool to do. I could never figure out upper register though. Alas I lost the conditioning over time and now I can't do it without coughing 😂, I know the muscle movements mostly but would have to recondition my larynx. It was so cool to learn though, I never thought I'd be able to. I could only do vowel sounds, but was still cool. If I lived alone or somewhere without paper thin apartment walls I might start practicing again...

To give some context, when you sing overtone, you should be able to hear the second note above the sung note, for example, if you sing C4, the overtone is G4 or C5, so, it's the technique to sing two notes at the same time. It's caused by.. Physics.
Notice how when he sang amazing grace, there's this airy note above the actual sound.
Holy shit, this man's overtone technique 😂😂😂

It helps to do the exercises for opening the throat even while not singing. Practice making different shapes and tones with your mouth/throat just by humming first, you can actually start to feel your soft palate opening (at first, it feels like an unusual vibrating of the throat, it almost tickles lol). If you can do that while humming it will greatly help to improve technique/tone/range with way less strain on your vocal chords💜 (not necessarily YOU, as in creators of the video. I just meant in general for people who are first starting to hone their singing skills)
