I fucking LOVE Wil! Man, I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Iridium in February for the Love of 48th street. He walked in and I was at the bar. He asked the bartender how he goes about getting a drink because he was playing that night. She directed him towards backstage...across the entire crowded venue. I said, "this is Wil Calhoun, get him whatever he wants, I got it." He was super cool and after the show was over I asked if I could get a picture with him. He said, "you bought me a drink right? You can have all the pics you want!" 😂 So humble and gracious and what a MONSTER behind the kit! 🙌🏻 The wisdom is befitting the talent and the soul he possesses.
Dom, thanks so much for this experience. I am continually inspired, excited, and impressed by these interviews. I knew who Will Calhoun was, but I didn't know who he really was - and now I do - and I am grateful for it.

FANTASTIC interview! OUR drum ambassador does it again! I love the concept of eliminating the conception of "styles". Very Bruce Lee in that aspect. What a wonderful interview, watched all the way out here in Australia. Interesting that Will Calhoun ventured out here to meet the Aborigines etc, nice to hear. Good interviewer Dom, love his laugh. It is so important to be able to laugh & enjoy humour, music & the natural world. I witnessed Will in action 30 years ago in Brisbane with Living Colour, An inspiring performance from them. Calhoun is an into it guy indeed, very uplifting he is. Thanks ever so much to all involved. Cheers.

Great interview Dom! Will inspires me to learn more deeply about the roots of drumming as I find the cultural reasons behind musical concepts so fascinating. What an experience it must have been for him to spend time amongst more remote musicians who bring such a human element to their music!
