Talking of bench height, for us elderly who find it difficult to bend over for long periods I favour a high bench. So I have my low bench for planing, sawing but have mounted my table saw higher and use that for many tasks and all finishing etc. It's also flat of course. It's nice to have the work close to these tired old eyes too. Best of both worlds. 👍
Been blazing through your Q&A's! On the topic of chisels, I got a basic set from Ace hardware. Plastic handle and rubber handle with fairly rough side bevels. Haven't used them for any fine detail as I'm still hollowing out a log for my project but they seem good enough starting out. You can tell I use the 1 inch most as the rubber is a bit beat up. Have them longer for a year though and they start to stink. Wish I could give them a new handle but they seem to literally just be the cutting edge with a small shaft recessed into the plastic handle.
glad to see my two woodriver chisels!! im so excited to see how the ibc chisel tests out. i have been wanting to upgrade to the ibc with the customisable handles but not sure if its worth it. cant wait to see the results
@@whittysworkshop982 +yes of course, and i have made made several. these are made in a way to be swapped out that appeals to me though. would be a complete luxury buy
with regard to the glue test debate, id love to see a comparison when joinery like a mortise and tenon or spline or dovetail is considered. the only thing tht bothers me is some people have said that the glue test means that joinery is now unneccessary which is ridiculous. it was a great video but i think people misinterpereted what the results mean in actual woodwork

Western red cedar is also used as a soundboard tonewood by some luthiers, notably Trevor Gore.

What about a fractal vise for holding clogs?

The big test I have going on right now is doing a long term test to see how glue holds up over the long hall
Are you going to test Stubai chisels as well? They are quite popular here in Austria.
If I could find one to test I would love to. I just do not have the money to buy them all just to test. but I would love to add one to the test.
James just curious on the Rubio Monocoat, which one is it that you use, is there a product reference
Pure clear is what I use most often. this one. amzn.to/2Y2kwYK
