    So they built a road where two trucks are very likely to have to pass each other, but they didn't make it wide enough!

      In the good old days in Denmark, we had/still have an - English built bridge, from 1937 (3,2 km), over Storstrømmen, which at a time became too narrow for the still larger trucks to be able to pass each other, without swinging their mirrors in!!! Today trucks aren't allowed any more, so it is only for local traffic, till a new bridge has been finished in a few years, also with more tracks for trains.
      But we are also building a new underwater tunnel below the 18 km of Fehmarn Belt to Germany, and instead of waiting for a ferry or the auto-train, we will be able to drive for ourselves! Both cars and trains!!
      I have always wondered why the Chunnel was made like this?

    I can sympathise with the person in the booth on the UK side not wanting to open the window to show which lane to get into, but it is his/her job to show clearly which way to go. In this day and age of digital signage, I don't understand why they don't have a simple keyboard to push to display clearly which lane to get into. Until that time, that person, no matter how cold, should be opening the window and doing their bloody job!

    • @The_Breeze1
      @The_Breeze1  Год назад +1

      Cheers Andrew. Once you get past the booth each lane has a red X except the lane you want which has a green ⬇️ so I’m not sure they even need the person at all ! Thank you for watching.

    This may sound like a bit of a stupid question but is it harder or not to go through border control and all the checks since brexit. And is there a lot more paper work. I've heard there where some delays at first. Its unbelievable what amount of trucks travel back and forth.

    • @The_Breeze1
      @The_Breeze1  Год назад

      Hi Lazylad, it’s longer due to the delays (for us) as we have fresh produce which requires veterinary inspection. Pre-Brexit was quicker in that respect. Trucks carrying “ordinary” goods are chosen at random for inspection so many go through without stopping. Thanks for watching mate 👍🏽

  • @Aengus42
    @Aengus42 Год назад +1

    As I drive from home to Sainsbury's on the A20 I nearly always (nowadays) see a queue of trucks just waiting. I think that's where you grabbed a 15 minute break.
    Now I know! Puzzle solved 😃
    One thing, on nights that are misty or with low cloud the light pollution out of the channel tunnel makes that drive look like a Spielberg film!
    Plus, you could read a newspaper in my back garden at midnight!
    Channel Tunnel, if you read this, please put some shades on your lighting! Just stop the light going up into the sky. Point them down where you need it. Please!

  • @struanpeat5116
    @struanpeat5116 Год назад +1

    My guess, for why you alwaysbget x-rayed may be some combination of your cargo and the company you work for. Since you're hauling a chiller your good likely need priority when getting on and off the train, while other goods could miss a train or two and not harm the goods. X-ray is the fastest way to garentee no funny business, and then youbget put into the priority (A) lane on the way out of the x-ray, since all the other lanes seem to move much slower to give customs a chance to pull the lordies aside if they want to check any of them
    Finally the lanes you took your 15 minute in are simply your placement on the next train and have nothing to do with the goods your carrying or the xeay machine
    This is my guess as a non-lorry driver, hope it helps

    • @The_Breeze1
      @The_Breeze1  Год назад

      I doubt it’s the Company as not only do they have an excellent record but we are going out rather than coming IN to the UK. We get priority being fridges & apart from the X ray there’s no other checks made ? Thanks for watching my friend 😊👍🏽
