Years ago I also frequently took the train from Calais to Folkestone and vice versa, I have lost count, but sometimes 3 times a week, see a short impression here a little further, I "cut" from a longer video of myself, since it also includes distance and duration, source Wikipedia.
Thanks for uploading, I immediately recognized the M20 and the exit to the Train Tunnel, chapeau, great!!!
I will pass this link on to others who would like to know how exactly it works to get on the train, I also made a video of it at the time and I happened to be at the front!!😂👍👍👍

Hi, I have also driven a DAF. but in the end with a Volvo 460, which for me personally remains the best truck of all time, although I also think that Scania has developed well in recent years, both Swedish.😂🤣
Yes, thanks about the pension, I am not bored for a moment and now I go out with the caravan to the countries where I have once been, just to reminisce, but I am not homesick for the profession, the "youngsters" can do it now!!👍

I only now notice and see that something has changed regarding check-in, I was able to drive further in my time (2008, yes long ago) and only then check in, what exactly did you do after checking in when you parked?
If you drive away from the 1st check in, you arrive at the check in where I had to check in at the time and that checkpoint that you have there now did not exist in my time, but that "shop" on the right, but just park and go down to Walking to Burger King is no longer an option I see, ha ha ha you now drive on and you come to the check whether or not you go through the scanner, I have often gone through the scanner, I was empty but yes, just Don't do what they ask and then stand in line until you can get on the train.

It is no longer an option to visit any shop as a truck driver as far as I know. I have never seen one there either (never used the channel tunnel with a small passenger car though, maybe its a different story after small car check in). Anyway after you go through the check in and park in line with a truck there is just one small toilet and thats it. Nothing much to do really than to sit in your truck and wait for a green light.

@@Teetotaler_Scania660SV8 Thanks for your response and oh yes, I completely forgot to ask what you were driving, but that is a Scania 660!!
In my time you could still walk into that building for certain information, etc.
But also take a short break before you drove to the train, etc.
In short, a lot has changed since 2008/2015, thanks for uploading your video, it was great again!!
I have been retired since 2020, which is why I haven't been to England since January 2015, I may have seen the link but I don't see it anymore, but search otherwise on my channel and you will automatically come across this ride via the train tunnel!!

@@Butlerbob I think here I still had a Volvo FH 500, switched back to Scania just recently. I am glad you enjoyed the video, I will take a look at your channel on how the crossing used to look like. Happy retirement :)

Hi, according to a quick google search the channel tunnel is 50 kilometers long. If you look closely, there is a time stamp at the bottom of this video, once you get on the train it takes approximately 30 minutes to get to the other side. Regarding the "struggle" you are writing about... I don't claim to be the best driver in the world, I just simply wanted to show how it looks like, where you need to go and what you need to do if you would like to use the Eurotunnel with a truck. Thats all. Thank you for watching and commenting. Have a good day :)
