Jack had such grace, wit, and eloquence delivered with a captivating elan. This was America in its brightest hour with its finest leader at the helm. How rich we were in these high golden days. It was the realization of hope, the unfolding of egalitarian democracy, the fulfillment of the legacy of our revolutionary forebears. I cherish the memory of this time in my life & revere him to this day. John F. Kennedy was our greatest president and he is sorely missed.
@WALRU11 Great comment. It seems almost as if hes missed more and his loss becomes more painful as the years go by rather than becoming less so or easier. I sometimes wonder what he would have achieved had he lived. He will always be remembered.
JFK was proud of his Irish Heritage a man of the people, well loved and may his tragic passing not let what he wanted to achieve be forgotten, everybody and I mean everybody remembers where they were when they heard the bad news. That says a lot in itself. RIP with the Irish in Heaven. God bless the free west.
Only 5 months later, he was gone...Ireland at that time was still in the middle ages thanks to Dev' ...what it must have been like to have this Hollywood movie star like president visit us ..my father always remembers as a newly wed at the time in Dublin when JFK's motorcade drove down O'Connell street...his blue suit and his tan ..Jack we miss you and your plans for the future
The most enlightened, eloquent voice in the politics of his age, and President of the United States, John F. Kennedy herewith deployed a bit of self-deprecation in stating that, had his grandfather not left New Ross, he would today, be shoveling manure for the Albatross Company (which was so close, that he and the entire audience could smell its wafting odor of dung) "Or perhaps," he quipped, "working for John D. Kelly," which referenced the local pub. This was the majesty and magic of JFK, his sharp, quick self-derogating wit that endeared him to the common man and revealed to them that he shared their humanity, perspective, mortality, interests and concerns. This was but one of the many aspects of mind and character that made him the nonpareil statesman of our time.
there was a 1798 in oulart in county wexford where i am from in1998 and john f kennedys sister was there in oulart in county wexford that day bumped in to her jean smith kennedy was the american ambassador at the time i wa s 8 at the time i felt very proud to have being from oulart the ballagh from my own local parish meeting jean kennedy smith jfks sister is something that will stick in my memory for a long long time :D really down to earth lady
Where are the men of JFK's believes statue and honour today. The nation of Ireland and the United States of America need men like him today. "Where have all the good men gone "
@WALRU11 He came into my head today since I read an article where S. Palin made a critical point about his Presidency. I know, I was nearly sick. (Anyway, ahem, cough cough). I think its a good thing every so often to view these videos and remember how brilliant and eloquent a speaker he really was and how he meant so much to people in the United States, Ireland and the World. We could do with him now the state things are in.
@capetown99 For those of us who saw him campaign, viewed his televised live press conferences, & daily followed his words & deeds in newspapers & on news broadcasts, the shock of his assassination was acute & our sense of loss lasting & profound. JFK was a unique leader, a man of courage whose pain & suffering sharpened his mind & shaped his humanity. Throughout, he retained a razor-sharp wit & ready smile, ala the Albatross Co. reference - a fertilizer firm just across the road. Huge laughs!
Somehow he Knew the Bad Guys would not let Him get along with his Agenda. He always called them out in many speeches and said the free countries of the world would survive without War without Malice!
out of all the americans jfk is the only american to say he is irish without the actual irish being pissed off, to everyother irish american, irish tell them thye are not irish and to piss off
i met john f kennedys sister in oulart during the 1798 celebrations in oulart where held where i am from got my picture taken with her too and yes i argee 100% with u
Hi Helmer The JFKz Eternal Mushroom Flame was intended to be a teardrop drying station just simply stick your face in the flame similar to a hand blower dryer, no messy kleenex liter health issues.

Those Irish (and I include 1/2 of my genealogy directly) freaking loved him, up and down.

The guy was a class act, undoubtedly evoking jealousy and resentment in others with tragic consequences.

My parents were married the day he landed 26th June 1963 .... God bless their souls .... it's the one thing we're all running out of .... TIME.
